Nellie Spencer
Archdale - Mrs. Nellie Coltrane Spencer, 81, resident of True Care, Inc. and former resident of 226 Model Farm Road, High Point, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 14, 1999.
She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Guilford County, a daughter to William Edgar and Emma Brown Coltrane. She was a homemaker and a member of Reavis Memorial Baptist Church. She was married to Russell Spencer who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Paula Jackson of Dunn; two sons, Barry Spencer and his wife, Sharon, of Trinity and Greg Spencer and Janice of High Point; a sister, Rosalie Shaver of High Point; four grandchildren, Jason Jackson, Joshua Spencer, Beth Spencer and Samantha Spencer; a great-grandson, Garrett Jackson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reavis Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Love officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and other times at the home of Barry and Sharon Spencer, 202 Don Ave., Trinity.

John Callahan Jr.
Lexington - John Williams Callahan Jr., 87, of 200 Country Club Drive, died Nov. 17, 1999.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the Narthex of First Presbyterian Church following the service.
Edgar Clary
Greensboro - Edgar “Spot” Clary, 82, died Nov. 18, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1917, in High Point, where he married Ruby Hollingsworth on Nov. 25, 1939. He was general manager of Carbide Saws randdaughter, Camille Adams of Auburn, Ala.; special nephew, Douglas Hollingsworth of High Point; his sister, Opal Lee Shipwash of High Point; seven nieces; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sechrest Chapel by the Rev. Don Lloyd. Inurnment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Avenue.

William Darby
High Point - William Elmer Darby, 77, of 305 Dorado Drive, died Nov. 17, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital. He had been in declining health for five weeks.
He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Honea Path, S.C., a son of William Clinton and Idell Sanders Darby. A resident of High Point most of his life, he graduated from High Point High School and attended N.C. State University. He was CEO of Dobbins Electric Co. A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the High Point County Club. He was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. On Sept. 20, 1947, he married Louise Bain, who died Oct. 21, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, W. Craig Darby of High Point and R. Rankin Darby of Roanoke, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Reid (Marie) Marsh of High Point, Mrs. Mauri (Betty) Sleeth of Wytheville, Va., Mrs. Hazel Allred of Raleigh and Mrs. Sarah Nicola of Fountain Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Freda Wilson; and a brother, James Darby.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joe Blankinship and Dr. Glenn Busch. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at Sechrest Funeral on E. Lexington Avenue until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7 until 8:30 tonight, and other times at the home.

Patricia Hines
High Point - Mrs. Patricia McPherson Hines, 66, a resident of Shadybrook Road, died Nov. 18, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Randolph County, on July 1, 1933, a daughter to Dexter Eugene and Bessie Eugenia Bulla McPherson. She had been a resident of High Point all of her life and was a homemaker. She was member of Covenant Church United Methodist and the Whitlock Sunday School Class. On Aug. 26, 1950, she was married to Wade Samuel Hines, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Douglas W. Hines and his wife, Frances, of Newport News, Va., and Gregory S. Hines and his wife, Cindy, of High Point; one brother, Wesley Dexter McPherson of Trinity; seven grandchildren, Nicholas T. Hines, Bradley W. Hines, Jeremy T. Hines, Bryan P. Hines, Kaitlyn E. Hines, Kate E. Henderson and Taylor B. Henderson.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. John Fitzgerald and the Rev. Vern Price. Visitation will be at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Avenue from 7 until 8:30 tonight.

Fleta Hunt
High Point - Mrs. Fleta Bodenheimer Hunt, 83, a resident of Blandwood Drive, died Nov. 17, 1999, at Beverly Health Care of Thomasville, following a brief illness.
She was born in Forsyth County on March 11, 1916, the daughter of John Wesley and Daisy Reid. She was formerly employed at Slane Hosiery Mills and was of the Moravian faith. She was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil Reid.
Surviving are three sons, Early Franklin Bodenheimer and his wife, Barbara, of Winston-Salem; one brother, Carl Reid of Kernersville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, John Brinkley of Thomasville.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Neese. Burial will be in Union Cross Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

John O’Connell
Jamestown - John Vincent O’Connell, 68, of 805 Chatfield Court, died Nov. 18, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Timothy and Anna Lucid O’Connell. In 1987, he retired from Diamond Crystal Salt Co. and served in the United States Army. On May 21, 1955, he married Eleanor Ebel and she survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Ms. Ginny Brown of Greensboro, Mrs. Kathy Pulaski and husband, Frank, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Trish Decker and husband, Chris, of Pleasant Garden; one son, Tim O’Connell and wife, Theresa, of Erie, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Anne McCade of Catskill, N.J.; one brother, Matthew O’Connell of Spring Hill, Fla; seven grandchildren, Rick Brown, Nicole, Sarah and Christopher Pulaski, Nicholas Decker, Kyle and Kevin O’Connell.
The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Home on E. Lexington Avenue, Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

Avery Conrad
Greensboro - Mr. Avery Efird Conrad, 80, died Nov. 20, 1999 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. He was born in Lexington. Mr. Conrad was a member of First Lutheran Church. Before retirement, he was the owner and operator of Conrad Lumber Company. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Hunt Conrad.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Candy Conrad of Greensboro; sisters, Marcella Kennedy and Betty Roberts, both of Lexington; brothers Cromer Conrad, Clyde Conrad, Paul Conrad and John Conrad, all of Lexington; and one grandson, Chad Conrad of Concord. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro and at other times at the residence of Neil and Candy Conrad. Monday at First Lutheran church in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville.

Frances Hedrick
High Point - Mrs. Frances McGehee Hedrick, 81, of 809 Quaker Lane died Nov. 20, 1999 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Hedrick was born Aug 6, 1918 in Columbus, Ga. to Allen Clements and Alma Slocum McGehee. She had lived most of her life in High Point, was a homemaker and was a member of English Road Baptist Church.
On July 15, 1940, Mrs. Hedrick was married to C.C. “Doc” Hedrick who survives of the home. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Linda Hedrick Cox of Raleigh; a son, Larry Hedrick of High Point; three grandchildren, Tammy Ring, Brad Hedrick and Laurie Cox; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen McGehee of Sanford; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Stroupe of Palm Harbor Fla.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at English Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. James A. Summey. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Gertrude Ingram
Trinity - Mrs. Gertrude Smith Ingram, 60, resident of 6331 Twinwood Crt. died Nov. 20, 1999 at the High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 16, 1939, in Bladen County, a daughter to Eartle and Mary Kate Peterson Smith. She was a member of Allendale Baptist Church and was employed at Hickory Springs Inc. In March of 1974, she was married to Frank Ingram who survives of the home.
Also surviving are her parents of Thomasville; five daughters, Penny Vaughan of Thomasville, Tammy Tollison and Karen Campbell of Trinity, April Sparks of the home, Sharon Holcomb of Mocksville; one son, Clarence Hunt of Randleman; three sisters, Mary Small of Archdale, Rosellen Craven of Walburg, Ann Hughes of Thomasville; four brothers, Richard Smith and Jesse Smith of Archdale, Earl Smith of Thomasville, Danny Smith of High Point; Twelve Grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with the Revs. Bobby Metters and David Younger officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
