Mrs. Frances McDonald Jenkins Lambeth, 83 of Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville died at 7:15 a.m. March 4, 2001, at the nursing home.

John W. Loflin, 54, of Greensboro died Feb. 28, 2001, at his residence.
He was a distribution manager for Valspar Inc. and a member of Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Julianne Lindsey Loflin of the residence; two sons, John Christopher Loflin and his wife, Heidi, of Greensboro, and Julian Nicholas Loflin and his fiancée, Kristen LeBlanc, of Greensboro; a sister, Elaine Loflin Schaeffer and her husband, Donnie, of Sandy Ridge; a brother, Clayton Loflin of Monroe; and his favorite puppy, Dutch.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, W. Friendly Ave.

James Ronald Russell, 70, of 22nd Ave. died at 1:30 p.m. at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Mrs. Wanda Damron Witcher, 79, died Feb. 28, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was born July 1, 1921, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of John Wesley and Emma Zetta Maynard Damron.
Surviving are two sisters, Lucille Damron Abbott and Anna Mae Damron Fraley; and a brother, John Shelby Damron.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

David Thomas Wooten, 50, of 311-A Kersey Valley Road died Feb. 28, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Forsyth County, a son of John Ellis Wooten and Ruby Wood Wooten. He was employed with Bernard’s Inc.
Surviving are his mother of High Point; a sister, Mrs. Karen Lamb and her husband, James, of High Point; and three brothers, Garry Wooten and his friend, Susan Caulder, both of High Point, Michael Wooten of Winston-Salem, Jimmy Wooten of High Point.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sechrest Funeral Chapel, E. Lexington Avenue, by the Rev. F.O. Bass Jr.
Janie Wright

Mrs. Janie Wright, 84, of 625 Ashland St., formerly of Shelby, died March 1, 2001.
She was a native of Zebulon and resided in Cleveland County for many years. She retired from Dover Mill Co., where she served for 25 years as a winder. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Washington Greene; her mother, Buena Bridges Greene; her husband, Lawrence Victor Wright; and her son, Larry Wright.
Surviving are two sons, Fred Wright of Thomasville and David Wright of Archdale; and a brother, Tyree Greene of Charlotte.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Double Springs Baptist Church, Shelby, by the Rev. Eddie Brackett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at Cleveland Funeral Service, Shelby.

Joanna Carter

The Rev. Joanna Cotrelia Miller Carter entered into eternal rest Feb. 10, 2001.
She was born Jan. 15, 1940, a daughter of Bishop and Mrs. Frank N. Miller, who both preceded her in death. She graduated from William Penn High School in High Point and City College in Los Angeles. She retired from IBM after 25 years of service in 1989. She also was employed with WXAP and WAOK, radio broadcasting, in the late 1970s. She later joined the Federal Express team for approximately five years.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a youth and was called into the ministry and ordained in 1958. She served at Kings Chapel Holiness Church in High Point under the pastorate of Bishop Odessa Covington. She ministered the word of God across the country, spending much time counseling married couples and ministering to the youth. God was her greatest love and second to Him was her love for her family and dearest friends. She was married to Ron Carter, who survives.
Also surviving to cherish her memory, are a special daughter, Damita (John Ross) McDougall, of Cary; three loving sons, Kinston and Winston Carter of Atlanta, and Todd (Tracy) Carter of Columbus, Ohio; five grandsons, Colby and Jacob McDougall, Zac, Christian and Jaedyn Carter; a sister, Lydia (Clayborn) M. Wright of Greensboro; a brother, Rod Haskins of Washington, D.C.; a special cousin, Mrs. Patricia (Walter) Vines of Lanham, Md.; four nieces; three nephews; a lifelong friend, Miss Gladys Avery; her Godsister, Elder Zula Mae Shaw; and a host of friends.
Funeral was held Feb. 14, 2001, at Green Pastures Christian Ministries, Decatur.

Franklin L. Grimsley, 55, a resident of 1112 Trinity Street, Apt. 701, died March 2, 2001.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carolina Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Tuesday.
William Harris

William Thomas Harris, 85, a resident of 100 Hedrick Drive, died March 3, 2001, in the Piedmont Center.
He was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Davidson County, a son of Thomas Smith Harris and Ena Tysinger Harris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He served as a manager of Peace Cafe and later was associated with Davidson Wholesale. He was a member of Thomasville Masonic Lodge 214 A.F. & A.M. and Memorial United Methodist Church. He was first married to Dorothy Mae Owen, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1992, and later married Virginia Thayer Jackson, who died July 28, 1997.
Surviving are two nephews, Thomas D. Harris and his wife, Denny, of Florence, S.C., and Steve Lipe and his wife, Sandy, of Grier, S.C.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Revs. Kyles Y. Wallace and Wilbur A. Jarrett. The body will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the hour of the service. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Joyce Hart

Mrs. Joyce Wilson Hart, 62, a resident of 602 Longview Drive, died March 2, 2001, in Vencor Hospital in Greensboro following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 11, 1938, in High Point, a daughter of Edna Wilson McLeod and Roswell McGinnis. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Westmoreland Sunday School Class. She lived on the Mills Home Campus of Baptist Childrens Home from 1946 to 1957. She was an Alumni Council member for many years and was an elected Alumni Council officer for several years. She was a member of the Thomasville Woman’s Club until her health declined. On Nov. 14, 1957, she was married to Joseph W. Hart, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Joey Hart, of the home; a grandson, Michael Hart and his wife, Jamie, of Thomasville; two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Kirstin; five sisters, Debbie McGinnis Albrecht of Key West, Fla., Nancy Boggs of Huntington, W. Va., Terry McLeod of Hazelhurst, Ga., Shiela Tupper of Orlando, Fla., and Lisa McLeod Walker of Riceville, Tenn.; two brothers, Tommy McGinnis of Tahlequah, Okla., and Swain McLeod of High Point.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. David Best. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The body will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the home.
