Mrs. Mary Belle Talbert Tester, 87, of Brian Center Nursing Home, formerly of W. 7th Ave., died at 12:10 p.m. Feb. 23, 2001, at Brian Center Nursing Home after several years of declining health.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday at the Mausoleum Chapel.

James H. Ball, 75, of Turner Road died at 9:50 a.m. March 7, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Mrs. Pansy Ora Ozment Bolton, 93, of 1924 Lick Creek Church Road died March 7, 2001, at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Randolph County, a daughter of John Henry Ozment and Lugolda Walden Ozment. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She retired from Maro Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Cid United Methodist Church. She married William Clifton “Cliff” Bolton, who preceded her in death April 21, 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Myers of Denton; a son, Jack Bolton and his wife, Martha, of Thomasville; three grandsons, Billy “W.C.” Bolton, Chip Bolton and Rusty Bolton; a great-granddaughter, Brooke Harris; and three great-great-grandsons, Justin Myers, Nathan Harris and Christian Harris.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Hulon Pait. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nancy Gore Fowler, 76, of 5173 Manor Ridge Drive died March 7, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital after several months of declining health.
She was born May 26, 1924, in Horry County, S.C., a daughter of Jonathan Franklin and Lonnie Housand Gore. She was a resident of Archdale since 1968. She retired from High Point Furniture Industries. She was a member of High Point Original Freewill Baptist Church for 37 years. On Sept. 8, 1940, she married Claude Hester Fowler, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Autrey (Perlene) Sellers of Florence, S.C., Mrs. Cleo Ward and her special friend, Tex Osborne, of High Point, Mrs. Olen (Joyce) Harrelson of Archdale, Ms. Claudine Fowler of Sophia, Mrs. Judy Tucker and her husband, the Rev. Cecil L. Tucker, of Randleman and Mrs. Russell (Rita) Webster of Trinity; two sons, Bobby H. Fowler and his wife, Wanda, of Archdale, and Lennon Fowler and his wife, Becky, of Lexington; an adopted son, William James “Billy” Gore of Roseboro; a sister, Mrs. Maybelle Smith of Shallotte; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. Jesse Burford and the Rev. Hillis Burton. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Stella A. LaBella, 97, died March 7, 2001, at Wesley Long Nursing Center after two years of declining health.
She was a native of Chicopee, Mass. She was a wife, mother and homemaker. She resided in Apopka, Fla. for 33 years and in the Jamestown area for the past 14 years. She attended Presbyterian churches in Florida and Jamestown for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles LaBella.
Surviving are her son, Charles F. LaBella and his wife, Betty, of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Scott LaBella and his wife, Amanda, of High Point, and Susan Townsend and her husband, Matthew, of Mebane; and a great-grandchild, Emma Jane LaBella of High Point.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Apopka. Visitation will be after the service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Nannie Lena Smith Hicks Peele, 90, died March 5, 2001, at Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Surry County, a daughter of Walter and Electra Snow Smith, who both preceded her in death. She retired as a nursing aide and was a member of Burton Street Methodist Church in High Point.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Daisy and Raymond Pruitt of White Plains, Eva and Bob Davis of Beulah and Mary and Bob Gooch of Asheboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Kay Hicks of Kannapolis and Clay and Jo Ann Peele of Randleman; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a step grandchild; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Fern Wright of Dobson; a brother and sister-in-law, Gaither and Ruth Smith of Booneville; and a special sister-in-law, Osie Flint of Ballard, W.Va.
Funeral was held 11 a.m. March 7 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Airy by Brother Don Collins and the Rev. Roger Carmichael. Burial was in Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Lucille Rodden

Mrs. Lucille Thornburg Rodden, 82, of Graybrier Nursing and Retirement Center died March 6, 2001, at the nursing center.
She was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Minden, W.Va., a daughter of Thomas and Martha Young Thornburg. She was a resident of High Point most of her life. She was married to Charles Harold Rodden who preceded her in death in 1974. She and her husband operated Rodden Grocery on West Fairfield Road in High Point, and they also operated Rodden Hatchery. She later was employed with Acme Samples Inc. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in High Point, the Royal Pearl Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Club. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She also was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rose Suggs and her husband, Jerry, of Archdale; two sons, Thomas Jerry Rodden and his wife, Betty, of Archdale, and Randy Lee Rodden of Statesville; a sister, Mrs. Martha Jean Billings of High Point; five grandchildren, Karen Rodden Deitz, Sharon Rodden Johnson, Paula Nance Kingdon, Jason Glenn Nance and Wayne Scott Rodden; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. David A. Miller. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ida Pearl Tucker, 50, of 703 Rosecrest Drive died March 4, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Robeson County, a daughter of Anderson and Louise McLean, who both preceded her in death. She was an employee of Wesley Long Nursing Center in Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Lou McLaughlin; and her two brothers, Charles McLean and Lacy McLean.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Lee Tucker of High Point; three children, Tracy L. Howell, James T. Howell III, and Shantia N. Howell, all of High Point; her stepmother, Helen McLean of High Point; two sisters, Patricia Townsend of Laurinburg and LaQuan McLean of High Point; four brothers, Jack McLean Jr. of Fayetteville, James McLean of High Point, Darrell McLean of Washington, D.C., and Robert McLean of Laurinburg; a grandson, James T. Howell IV of High Point; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Word of Reconciliation Ministries, High Point, by the Rev. Quentin O. Boger. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 12:30-1 p.m. Saturday at the church and other times at the residence.
