Mrs. Hazel Hughes Albright, 84, of 7340 E. Holly Grove Road, died March 9, 2001, at Britthaven Of Davidson.
She was born March 31, 1916, in Mitchell County, daughter of the late Mose Garland Hughes and Bessie Mosley Hughes. She was a retired employee of Kayby Mills and was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.
She was married Oct. 24, 1935, to Joe Henry Albright, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Loyd (Norma) Hepler and Mrs. Doak (Jean) Fuller, both of Thomasville, and Mrs. Milton “Monk” (Freida) Suggs of Lexington; one son, Lawrence Albright and wife, Emma, of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. Beaulah Sparks of Bakersville and Mrs. Norman (Faye) Brown of Thomasville; one brother, Jack Hughes of Lake Norman; 11 grandchildren, Stacey Inman, Jay Hepler, Cheryl Ivey, Joey Albright, Daren Fuller, Marty Fuller, Wendi Key, Terri Ward, Marlon Suggs, Tressi Suggs and John Suggs; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church by Dr. E. Keith Carroll and the Rev. Carroll M. Upton. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home 7340 E. Holly Grove Road, Thomasville. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Donald Max Benfield, 68, died March 9, 2001.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
William Brown

William Cornelius “Neil” Brown, 71, a resident of SunBridge of Asheboro and formerly of 2971 Old Mountain Road, Trinity, died March 9, 2001, at the nursing facility.
He was born April 13, 1929, in Chesterfield County, S.C., to William Emanuel and Lillie Ingram Brown. He had been plant manager at Allied Systems Inc. in Greensboro and later retired from Alma Desk Co. in High Point.
On Jan. 6, 1952, he was married to the former Mary Whitaker, who died on Oct. 13, 1991. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jackie Brown and Chris Brown; four sisters, Ellen Thomas, Agnes Brown, Helen Parker and Ruby Boone; and a grandson.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kathy Hunt and husband, Bobby, and Mrs. Ann Boone and husband, Roger, all of Trinity, and Mrs. Tammy Speight and husband, Jimmy, of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Toby Hunt, Jody Hunt, Renee Beckom, Lynn Brown, Jackie Brown, Melody Christy, Candi Taylor and Faren Speight; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel Beckom, Hollis Hunt, Cody Hunt, Samantha Maynard, Shelby Hunt, Sheyenne Hunt, Aryale Blevins and Ryan Smith; two brothers, Wilson E. Brown of Clayton and Marion Brown of Patrick, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. Elvia Pierce of Wallace, S.C.; two special sisters-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Brown and Mrs. Kathryn Brown; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special loving friend, Levina Cribb, and her family.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Patrick Baptist Church in Patrick, S.C. Interment will be in Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
Ruby Culp

Mrs. Ruby Virginia Batten Culp, 81, a resident of 611 Cable St., died March 10, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born in Thomasville on May 14, 1919, a daughter of Carey Hunter Batten and Mary Rolfe Batten and was a lifelong resident of Thomasville. She had retired from Ragan Knitting Mill and was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and the Fidelity Sunday School Class.
On April 14, 1944, she was married to Wilson Clark Culp, who survives of the home.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Mark Sink. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Arthur Lankford, 90, of 8967 Old Liberty Road, died March 10, 2001, at his home.
He was a native of Stokes County and was born to the late John and Susie Ward Lankford. He was a member of Pleasant Union Wesleyan Church and was retired from Gregson Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Arrington Lankford; one sister, Della Gray Brower; and one brother, Albert Lankford.
Surviving are three sons, Dwight Lankford and wife, Marlene, of Liberty, Dean Lankford and wife, Marcia, of High Point, and John Lankford and wife, Linda, of Liberty; one sister, Ella Mae Coble of Liberty; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Liberty by the Rev. Raeford Brim. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty, and other times at 8967 Old Liberty Road.

Mrs. Mary Marie Fitzgerald Sink, 82, of 1159 Pilot School Road, died March 9, 2001, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Davidson County, daughter of the late Joseph Howell Fitzgerald and Lula Kearns Fitzgerald. She was a homemaker and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, the Singles No. 2 Sunday School class and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Group.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alice Marie Sink; a sister, Myrtle Fitzgerald Briles; and a brother, Charles Fitzgerald.
She was married to Loy Lorenzo Sink, who proceeded her in death Feb. 5, 1991.
Surviving are three sons, Ronnie B. Sink and wife, Aurelia, of Thomasville, Larry B. Sink and wife, Sharon, of High Point and H. Dean Sink and wife, Carolyn, of Jamestown; one sister, Ruby Fitzgerald Loman of Thomasville; one brother, Wade K. Fitzgerald of Thomasville; six grandchildren, Kevin B. Sink, Caprice Sink Thrift, Corie N. Sink, Brennan “Bo“ Sink, Matthew Dean Sink and Carl Alex Sink; and a great-grandson, Ty Alexander Thrift.

Miss Amy Blair Slaughter, 28, resident of 4809 Whisper Oak Drive, died March 10, 2001, at the Wake Forest University Medical Center following declining health since July.
She was born March 2, 1973, in Lee County, a daughter of William Blair and Glenda Keller Slaughter. She had been a resident of High Point and Archdale most of her life and was employed with Community General Hospital in Thomasville.
She was a graduate of Davidson County Community College with an associate degree in nursing and received from the Army Nurse Corps the Spirit of Nursing Award. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and the Singles Sunday School Class.
Surviving are the parents of the home; one sister, Mrs. Michael (Shannon) Cranford of Thomasville; one nephew, Tanner Cranford; one niece, Madison Cranford; and her grandmothers, Mrs. Myrtle Slaughter of Sanford and Mrs. Viola Keller of Morganton.
Funeral will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Green Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Alan Cox and the Rev. David M. Emery. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before and after the service at the church Monday.

Nathaniel Stewart, 52, of 2611 Dallas St., died March 8, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1948, in High Point, the son of Paul Alexander and Rochelle Annie Mae Stewart. He was an auto repairman with P.P.G., Harris Covington, Body Shop. He graduated from William Penn and Guilford Technical Community College. He was a member of King Chapel Holiness Church.
Civic activities include minister, K.C.B.’s, Deacon Board, Praise team, Senior Usher Board and formal Sunday School Superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elvan N. Stewart.
Surviving are his wife, Wilda Ingram Stewart; two sons, Jerimy Stewart and Anthony Steel, of the home; two daughters, Miss Latilda Stewart of the home and Miss Stennettia L. Stewart of Tucker, Ga.; three brothers, Jerome Stewart and Terry Stewart, both of Fayetteville, and Darrell (Eather) Stewart of Turlock, Calif.; three sisters, Miss Marlene Stewart, Miss Geraldine S. (Lonzo) Davis and Mrs. Patricia (James) Franklin, all of High Point; four grandchildren, Iman Stewart and Alex Steel, both of High Point, Amber and Ariel Stewart, both of Tucker, Ga.; and other relatives, including Mary Coleman, Barbara Dixon of Ft. Washington, Md. and William (Mary) Stewart of High Point.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at King Chapel Holiness Church by Bishop James R. Terry. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Monday at the church and other times at the home, with public viewing 3-9 p.m. Monday at King Chapel Holiness Church.
