Mrs. Bluma Mae Davis, 81, of Liberty Wood Nursing Center, formerly of 228-C Brentwood St., High Point, died March 11, 2001, at the center, where she was a resident 12 years.
She was a native of Hartsville, S.C. She was a resident of High Point most of her life and was of the Baptist faith. She was employed in private homes prior to failing health. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. King; and her siblings.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Davis of Brentwood Street; and in-laws, among them, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Super of High Point.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J.I. Thompson. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hazlip Funeral Chapel.

Paul Wayne Davis, 68, died March 12, 2001, at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Garrison, longtime educator, dies at 54
WINSTON-SALEM – Larry Wayne Garrison Sr., 54, of 2000 Meadow Glen Lane, died March 13, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1946, a son of Dyrk and Vernelle Campbell Garrison. He was an educator in the Davidson County School System, and he retired as principal of Wallburg Elementary School in 1998. He was past president of Wallburg Lions Club and Midway Lions Club and he was a zone chairman. He was married Dec. 21, 1968, to Charlotte Bach. He was a member of Wallburg Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of the residence; two sons, Larry Wayne Garrison Jr. and his wife, Tabitha, of Lexington, and John Andrew Garrison II of the residence; a stepgrandson, Joshua Floyd; his father, Dyrk Garrison of Winston-Salem; a brother, Dean Garrison of Pinnacle; a sister, Mrs.. Greer (Donna) Smith of Winston-Salem; and his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Loretta Bach of Advance.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wallburg Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Max Evington, the Rev. Brooks Hunt and the Rev. Jay Whitley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N.C. 109 North, Wallburg Chapel, Winston-Salem, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service Thursday. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Blanche “Bea” Beasley Grimsley, 91, formerly of 925 Country Club Drive, died March 13, 2001, at Brookridge Nursing Center.
She was born in Scotland County. She lived in High Point most of her life and attended High Point University. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was an active member in High Point PTA and the High Point Garden Club Council. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and the Adult Fellowship Class. She retired as a real estate developer in High Point. She married Edward Lee Grimsley in 1939, who preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jane Grimsley Edwards of Winston-Salem and Mrs. John (Nancy) Grimsley Langston of Charlotte; a son, Edward Lee Grimsley Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Richard J. Crowder. Visitation will be Friday after the service at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Earnest Walter Harris, 64, of 5406 Finch Farm Road, died March 12, 2001, at his residence.
He was born May 18, 1936, in Randolph County, a son of Max O. Harris and Odessa Garren Harris. He was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former employee of Bost Bakery in Thomasville and retired from Flowers Bakery in Jamestown. He was currently employed part-time at the Braxton-Craven Elementary School in the cafeteria. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he served as an assistant Sunday school teacher. On July 31, 1963, he was married to Miss Hilde Kraft, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Kathy) Bibus of Thomasville; a son, Ricky E. Harris and his wife, Michelle, of Arcardia; his mother of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Bacon of Wallburg; a brother, Everett Harris of Lexington; three grandchildren, James Harris, Emma Harris and Mrs. Sammy (Marsha) Edwards; and a great-grandson, Dennis Edwards.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth R. Evans and the Rev. J.C. Alley. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Thomasville. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, until placed in the church Thursday 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Vonnie Gail Melton Jernigan, 50, 108 Weaver St. died March 13, 2001, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Randolph County. She was a member of Sunset Avenue Church of God. She was a teacher’s assistant at Randleman Elementary School and at Level Cross Elementary School. She was a loving wife and mother.
Surviving are her husband, William G. “Bill” Jernigan; her daughter, Melissa Paige Jernigan of the residence; her son, Phillip Jernigan of Raleigh; her mother, Almeda Beeson of Randleman; her grandmother, Hallie Whitley of High Point; and a sister, Glenda Watson of Asheboro.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset Avenue Church of God by the Rev. Boyd Byerly. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.

(Julius) Richburg of Knightdale; three brothers, Charlie (Nellie) Mangum, of Durham, William (Clarice) Lewis of Raleigh and Stanley (Vanessa) McLean; six aunts, Lucy Moore, Oveter Burnette, Fannie Jones, Flora Mangum, Margie Mangum and Beulah Mangum; four uncles, Leverst Walters, Johnnie Walters, Edward Walters and James Mangum; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jean Terry Rice, 78, of 3407 Dillon Road died March 12, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Richmond County, a daughter of Samuel B. and Mamie Jones Terry, who both preceded her in death. She was a resident of the High Point vicinity most of her life. She retired from High Point Regional Hospital, where she was a supervisor of the receiving department. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. She was married to Thurston Ray Rice Sr., who preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Thurston Ray Rice Jr. and his wife, Vermell, of Archdale, and Joel Eugene Rice and his wife, Penny, of Rural Hall; a daughter, Reece Carolyn Fields and her husband, Forrest, of High Point; three granddaughters, Briana, Paige and Jenna Rice; and a niece, Sandra Scarborough.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ben Trawick. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
