Mrs. Arrie Bell McCoy, of 7541 Sunnyvale Drive, Died March 16, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Earl. She later became a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point. In her elderly years, she attended the St. Stephens Adult Day Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Amanda Wade McCluney; her husband, Bill McCoy; five brothers, Gary, Claude, Andrew, Curtis and Will; two sisters, Inez and Rosetta.
Surviving are a daughter, Rosa Lee (Leroy) Tate of the residence; a niece raised as a daughter, Thelma Smith of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Joe (Mary) Tate, Henrietta (Tommy) Briley, Sylvia Woke, Karen Tate and Lenette (Troy) Burris; six great-granchildren, Dederrick Bennett, Talita Briley, Tommy Briley, Jr., Michael Tate, Cecilia Woke and Larry Burris; two sisters, Elvira Smith and Mattie Lee Smith; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Earl. Burial will be in church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8 tonight at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point and 1:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Earl, and at other times at the residence. Hoover’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Linda Neal
Newport
Mrs. Linda Giles Neal, 50, died March 17, 2001, at her residence in Core Creek community.
She was born Feb. 10, 1951, in High Point, the youngest daughter of Paul Columbus Giles and Alma Hamrick Giles, who both survive of Archdale. She graduated from Guilford Technical Community College Nursing School, formerly Guilford Technical Institute, and was a dedicated career registered nurse. She was employed until recently at both Craven Regional and Carteret General hospitals, primarily in the ICU, CCU and emergency departments. She also was employed for a six-year period in the early 1990s with New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C., with the ICU department. She was a member of Core Creek United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Martin.
Surviving are her husband, Gary Neal of the residence; her daughter, Angela Panzarella of Newport; a grandson, Jordan Froscher of Newport; two stepsons, Cully and Cody Neal, both of Newport; two brothers, Earl Giles of Archdale and Frank Giles of Trinity; two sisters, Margaret Ann Andrews of Trinity and Becky Krieger of Archdale; and nine nephews and seven nieces.
Memorial service was held 1 p.m. March 19 at Core Creek United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Stamey Beatrice York Perrell, 95, of SunBridge of Lexington, formerly of Brookcircle, died at 2 p.m. March 19, 2001, at Sunbridge of Lexington after four years of declining health.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the families respective homes.

Mrs. Linda Carolyn Unroe Russell, 51, of 3638 Westfield St. died March 19, 2001, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 2, 1939, a daughter of Lloyd S. Unroe and Norma Gladys Hickman Unroe. She was a resident of High Point for the past 38 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point. On June 8, 1963, she was married to Clarence H. Russell, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Johnny (Anita) McPherson of Sophia; a son, Terry Russell and his wife, Angie, of Trinity; seven sisters, Miss Trudy Unroe and Mrs. Allen (Sarah) Lowe, both of White Sulpher Springs, W. Va., Mrs. Vera Davis of Elkin, Mrs. Lucille Deeds and Mrs. Ira (Louise) Deeds, both of Clifton Forge, Va., Mrs. Danny (Brenda) Booth of Vinton, Va., and Mrs. Pete (Sandy) Nicely of Lynchburg, Va.; and three grandchildren, Bradley McPherson, Bridgett McPherson and Christin Russell.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel, Thomasville, by the Rev. Junior Seawell. Burial will be in Hilltop Baptist Church Cemetery, Thomasville. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Estelle Sanders

Mrs. Estelle Williams Sanders, 79, of 204 Wyndham Ave. died March 19, 2001, at Piedmont Christian Home after an extended illness.
She was born June 19, 1921, in Bethel Springs, McNairy County, Tenn., a daughter of Dave and Errett Beatty Williams. She was a resident of High Point three years and a previous resident of Greensboro for more than 30 years. She was a member of Northwest Church of Christ and a founding member of Friendly Avenue Church of Christ in Greensboro. On June 2, 1951, she married Laurel Knox Sanders, who survives of the residence. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Logan Sanders; and her two brothers, John and Beatty Williams.
Also surviving are three sons, Edwin K. Sanders and his wife, Barbara, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Alan T. Sanders and his wife, Terri, of Collierville, Tenn., and Boyd C. Sanders and his wife, Tammy, of 8509 Mahala Drive; two sisters, Mrs. Ira Tacker and Mrs. Nina Mae Summers, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren, Jason Sanders, Lauren Sanders, Jessica Sanders, Collin Sanders, Caitlin Sanders, Evan Sanders and Ethan Sanders.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Earl Taylor. The body will be at Sechrest Funeral Home, E. Lexington Avenue, until the hour of service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ms. Annie Davis Strickland, 87, of 108 Oakdale St. died March 19, 2001.

Vernon W. Wood
High Point
Vernon W. Wood, 81, died March 18, 2001.
He was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Guilford County. He was an active member of the High Point Elks Lodge 1155 many years, where he served as an officer and leading knight. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 87 until his death. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1942 to 1946 during World War II. He retired from Old Dominion Freight Lines in 1985, serving more than 40 years.
Surviving are a son, V. Scott Wood of Virginia; two sisters, Neely Fields and Mary Buie, both of High Point; and two grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Ruby Blevins

Mrs. Ruby Blevins, 82, of 1510 Deep River Road died March 19, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Ashe County, a daughter of Isacc B. and Rhody Blevins. She was a resident of High Point the most of her life and a former employee of Archdale Manufacturing. She was a member of High Point Primitive Baptist Church. She was married to Barney Ellis Blevins Sr., who preceded her in death in 1970. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Price.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Neff of Archdale; two sons, Barney E. Blevins Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Karney, Neb., and Michael E. Blevins Sr. and his wife, Margaret, of High Point; two brothers, Allen Blevins of West Jefferson and Bill Blevins of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery by Elder Steve Nichols. There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Margaret Alice Joyner Gilreath, 88, formerly of Greensboro, died at her residence.

She was a native of Montgomery County. She was a retiree of L. Richardson Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are three sons, Donald R. Hoover, Reginald C. Hoover and Wyatt L. Hoover, all of Greensboro; three daughters, Ina V. Hines, Carol A. Hoover-Warren of High Point, and Cynthia L. Hoover of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Union Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
