Dorothy Hicks
Thomasville - Mrs. Dorothy Mae Hicks, 77, of 14 Kirk St., died Nov. 26, 1999, at Britthaven of Davidson Nursing Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home.
Chesley Pearson
High Point - Mrs. Chesley James Pearson, 83, of The Evergreens and formerly of 3610 Westfield St., died Nov. 25, 1999, at the nursing facility.
She was born July 30, 1916, in DeSoto, Mo., a daughter of Henry H. and Mabel Warriner James. She had been a High Point resident since 1960. She was well known locally and nationally for her Tole painting and had taught classes in High Point in Tole painting for 30 years. She is recognized in the National Tole Museum for her work. A doll house designed by her husband and decorated by her is in the High Point Historical Museum and was donated by Mrs. Wade Marsh. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. On Aug. 23, 1940, she was married to Harris Charles “Bill” Pearson, who died Nov. 2, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Charles Richard Pearson and his wife, Drema, of High Point; two daughters, Ms. Susan H. Pearson of High Point and Mrs. Nancy Varner and her husband, Larry, of Beaufort; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Marian Vogel of Fort Collins, Colo.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. R. Scott Woodmansee and the Rev. Lisa Mullen. Entombment will be in the church columbarium.

Alvilda Ramsey
Thomasville - Ms. Alvilda Irene Cosner Ramsey, 55, of 1600 Kanoy Road, died at 7:18 a.m. on Nov. 24, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 6, 1944, in Loudon, Tenn., a daughter of Albert H. Cosner and Mae Lambert Cosner Whicker. She had been employed with North Carolina Garment Co.
Surviving are a special friend, Gene Calhoun; a son, Richard R. Ramsey of Thomasville; a sister, Ms. Lovonda Sue Ramsey of Thomasville; two brothers, William Terrell Cosner and his wife, Patricia, and Wayman Harold Cosner and his wife, Wilma, both of Trinity; three grandchildren, Justin, Joanna and Jeremy Ramsey; seven nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and one great-nephew; uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Cansler, and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Lambert.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Family Funeral Care Chapel by the Rev. Steve Jarvis. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Robert Thompson
Archdale - Robert Samuel Thompson, 77, of 3509 Garrell St. died at 7:40 p.m. Nov. 25, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital. He had been in declining health since October.
He was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Davidson County, a son of Robert and Annie Jones Thompson. He had been a resident of High Point and Archdale most of his life. He had retired at age 74 as a textile parts salesman. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, Arthur Whaley Bible Class, and a former deacon. A mason, he was a member of the Bush Hill Masonic Lodge, #732 A.F. & A.M. On Jan. 17, 1942, he was married to Hazel Thompson, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carol Thompson Hayes of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Michael Hayes Jr. and Carmen Thompson Hayes, both of Greensboro; two brothers, John Thompson of Greensboro and Frank Thompson of San Diego; three sisters, Miss Edith Thompson of Greensboro, Mrs. Laura McDade and Mrs. Martha Hall, both of Fayetteville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. C.W. Moss. Interment will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Members of the Arthur Whaley Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Lexington - Virgie Julie Smith Thompson, 76, died Nov. 26, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a serious illness of nine days.

Kernersville - Paul Whitaker, 67, of Woodruff Road died Nov. 26, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Asheboro - Mrs. Audrey Parkerson Bain, 40, of 303 Ridge Ave., died Nov. 26, 1999, at Carolina Beach Inlet.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greensboro. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. Her husband, Richard Harris Bain Jr., also died on Nov. 26, 1999, at Carolina Beach Inlet.
Surviving are her parents, Ed and Virginia Patterson of Greensboro; a sister, Leigh Ann Payne of Greensboro; and her grandmother, Nancy Parkerson of Eastman, Ga.

Richard Bain Jr.
Asheboro - Richard Bain Jr., 38, of 303 Ridge Ave., died Nov. 26, 1999, at Carolina Beach Inlet.
He was a native of Asheboro. He was employed at Armond Corp. His wife, Audrey Parkerson Bain, also died on Nov. 26, 1999, at Carolina Beach Inlet.
Surviving are her parents, Richard and Shirley Bain of Oak Island; and a sister, Cynthia Melton of Level Cross.

Lexington - Mrs. Joyce Shoemaker Breedlove, 65, of Academy Drive, died at 10 a.m. Nov. 27, 1999, at her home after declining health of one year.

Omie Gibson
Darlington, S.C. - Mrs. Omie Leathers Gibson, 87, of Oakhaven Nursing Home, died Nov. 26, 1999, at the nursing home after an illness of two months.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.
Jay Hicks
Greensboro - J.N. “Jay” Hicks, 72, of Greensboro, died Nov. 26, 1999, after a brief illness related to a malignant brain tumor.
He was born May 28, 1927, in Durham, a son of Paul and Hattie Hicks. He was employed with Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 33 years as a regional credit representative, retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve in Durham.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Edna; a son, Brad Hicks and his wife, Kelly, of Raleigh; a daughter, Bridget Stevenson and her husband, Robert, of High Point; four grandsons, Chad Hicks, Brent Hicks, Patrick Stevenson and Andrew Stevenson; and two sisters, Faye Dennis of Durham and Bea Pate of Swansboro. He was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Jaber of Clarksville, Va.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel by Pastor Adrian Harris. A private burial at sea will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home following the service.

Juanita Johnson
Thomasville - Ms. Juanita “Snookie” Everhart Johnson, 90, of Spring Street, died Nov. 25, 1999, at Community General Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1909, in Davidson County, a daughter of Charles Thomas and Sallie Mae Wright Everhart. She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Pride Brooks of the home; Mrs. Willa Mae Bowman of Greensboro and Mrs. Oweenee Gruzdis of Thomasville; a brother, Charles “Bill” Everhart of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Thomasville City Cemetery by Dr. Kyles Y. Wallace and the Rev. Peggy Finch. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Travis Lucas
Clemmons - Travis Lee Lucas, 17, of Clemmons, died Nov. 26, 1999, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born May 25, 1982, in Forsyth County, a son of William Gary Lucas and Sharon McMahan Gallup. He attended the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, where he was a sophomore.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Sharon M. Gallup and Kenneth R. Gallup Jr., both of Clemmons; his father and stepmother, William Gary Lucas and Kristi Lucas, both of Oak Ridge; a brother, Mark Edward Lucas of Clemmons; a grandmother, Earlene Lucas of Star; a stepbrother, Kenneth R. Gallup III of Bermuda Run; a stepsister, Melinda C. Gallup of Winston-Salem; two stepgrandparents, Don and Carol McFarland of Eden, Idaho; a stepgrandmother, Mrs. Margaret F. Gallup; and seven aunts and uncles who were very special to him.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Dr. David Hughes and the Rev. Paul Mullen. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem.
