Lanner McMahan
Trinity - Mrs. Lanner Mashburn McMahan, 84, of 4530 Peace Road went to be with Jesus Dec. 20, 1999.
She was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Fannin County, Ga., a daughter of Andrew Mashburn and Elizabeth Grant. She was a homemaker and was a member of Jewel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Doyle Dwight McMahan and a brother, Herschel Mashburn.
Surviving are four sons, Doyle Dwight McMahan Jr. of Trinity, Don K. McMahan of High Point, James T. McMahan of Asheboro and Ronald D. McMahan of Trinity; three daughters, Elizabeth Haynes of Asheboro, Delores Hicks of Columbia, S.C., and Geraldine Jordan of Asheboro; 27 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and four sisters, Mildred Franks, Ruth Barnes, Ruby Warren and Pearnell Greer.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale by the Rev. Tommy Harrold and the Rev. Jimmy Hinson. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the residence of Ronald McMahan, 4530 Peace Road.
W. Morrison
Neptune, N.J. - Willie James Morrison Jr., 51, formerly of High Point, died Dec. 17, 1999, at his residence.
He was born in Rockingham, N.C., a son of Willie James Morrison Sr. and Ella Mae Rush, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are four sisters, Dorothy Archie, Julia Morrison, Peggy Reed and Sharise Diggs, all of High Point.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Rush Cemetery, Rockingham. Visitation will be at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Archie, 1705 Oberlin Drive, High Point.

Augusta, Ga. - Lois Barrow Potts, 88, of Wheeler Road, formerly of Hover Drive, Lexington, N.C., died 3 p.m. Dec. 20, 1999, at University Hospital.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Hope Chapel, Lexington. by the Rev. Bill Sosebee. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
Merle Rollins
High Point - Mrs. Merle Beck Rollins, 67, of 1213 McCain Place died Dec. 21, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Guilford County a daughter of Dewey and Beulah Black Beck. She was a lifelong resident of High Point and retired after 33 years at Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Co. She was an active member of Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church, where she was a church pianist and taught Sunday school. In 1950, she married Bruce T. Rollins, who survives of the residence.
Surviving are two sons, Eric Rollins of Thomasville and the Rev. David Rollins and his wife, Tamara, of Albemarle; two grandsons, Michael Rollins and Jonathan Rollins; and a sister, Mrs. Sra Burgess of Baltimore.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church by the Rev. James Capps and the Rev. Harold Pharr. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Lexington - Ms. Betty Ann Everhart Saraceno, 68, died Dec. 20, 1999.

Troy Shelton
High Point - Troy Thomas Shelton, 83, of 113 E. Peachtree Drive died Dec. 20, 1999, at Sunbridge of the Triad Nursing Center.
He was born May 28, 1916, in Stokes County, a son of Troy Franklin and Saloan Shelton. On Dec. 24, 1941, he married Martha Kathleen Gordon of Pinnacle, who survives of the residence. He was a lifelong resident of Guilford County and a member of Oakview United Methodist Church. He was employed by Lyles Chevrolet for 17 years and retired from Kimble Auto Glass. He was a member of Numa F. Reid Lodge #344 and also a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Greensboro. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Shelton and her husband, David Lee Williams, of Anaheim, Calif.; a grandson, Jeffrey Myers Caldwell and his wife, Andrea Tano, of High Point; two grandchildren, Troy Preston Caldwell and Carly Rene Caldwell; three sisters, Avis Bowles of Winston-Salem, Earline Dantzler of Georgia, and Dura Carter of Wilmington; two brothers, Cecil Shelton of Walnut Cove, and Chester Shelton of Mt. Airy.
Masonic graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. today in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. E.A. Reavis Jr. Visitation will be at the residence.

James Barber
High Point - James Lawrence Barber, 58, of 504-B Saunders Place died Dec. 21, 1999, minutes after arrival at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in High Point, a son of Allen Scott Barber and Mary Alexander Barber. He was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1961, and attended Delaware State University, Wilmington, Del. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Lee Barber.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maxine Watkins Barber of the residence; two sons, James Lawrence Barber Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and Toby Barber of High Point; a daughter, Ms. April Barber of Greensboro; three brothers, Jesse Barber of San Francisco, Johnnie Barber and wife, Marilyn, of High Point and Melvin Barber of Greensboro; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilfong of High Point and Mrs. Iman Myhammad and husband, Sharif, of High Point; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, including Earl Nelson, who was very close to him; and other inlaws and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Eric Evans. Burial will be 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery, Salisbury. Visitation will be at the residence.

Glenn Barnes
High Point - Glenn Robert Barnes, 69, of 719 Nance Ave. died Dec. 23, 1999, at the High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born May 3, 1930, in Sylva, a son of Fred Homera and Noba Mae Wykle Barnes. A resident of High Point most of his life, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He worked for 28 years at Globe Furniture Co. and retired from Monarch Furniture Co. On Dec. 18, 1950, he married the former Daisy Wall, who survives of the residence.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ricky (Debra) Kanoy of Archdale, Mrs. David (Kim) Lackey of Trinity, and Mrs. Tim (Ann) Bishop of High Point; two brothers, Jimmy Barnes and Joseph Barnes, both of Sylva; three sisters, Mrs. Jim (Helen) Hankins of Archdale, Mrs. Geraldine Powell of Macon, Ga., and Mrs. James (Linda) Giles of Waynesville; and four grandchildren, Dana Kanoy, Jamie Kanoy, Tyler Bishop and Jacob Bishop.
Graveside service and burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. John C. Hill. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence.

Surviving are his wife, Debra Lawson Freeman; two daughters, Heather Freeman of Charlotte and Jennifer Freeman of Pinehurst; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Freeman of Pinehurst; a sister, Jane Freeman Bunch of High Point; and a brother, Basil H. Freeman Jr. of Las Vegas.

Pleasant Garden - Annie Edna Cole Johnson, 90, of 1787 Brittany Trail, died Dec. 22, 1999, at her residence.
She just celebrated her birthday with us. We wanted to keep her here for one more Christmas, but God decided he needed another angel so he called her home. She was a native of Industry, Ill. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Harry P. Johnson of Julian and Richard Lee Johnson of Sophia; four daughters, Ruth Johnson Mick of High Point, Mary Sue Johnson Sheets of Pleasant Garden, Barbara Johnson Jones of Greensboro and Katherine Johnson Bolanos of Franklinville; a sister, Marie C. Bailey of Greensboro; a halfsister, Lois Tribble, of Little Rock, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Randleman, by the Rev. Ron Kimble. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
