Susan Varner
Thomasville - Mrs. Susan Ann Gallimore Varner, 57, of 2585 Noahtown Road died Dec. 22, 1999, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan 3, 1942, in Davidson County, a daughter of Ervin Gallimore and Annie Parker. She was employed with Superior Wood Products Inc. She was a member of Hughes Grove Baptist Church, teacher of the beginner girls Sunday school class, and a member of the church choir. On July 2, 1960, she married John Winfred Varner, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two sons, Timothy Varner of 2593 Noahtown Road, and James Douglas Varner of 2587 Noahtown Road; three sisters, Mrs. Lindsay (Peggy Wadine) Hughes of Yates Road, Denton, Mrs. Arnold (Sara Irene) Miller of 756 Blackberry Road and Mrs. Varis (Elsie) Workman of 188 Marvin Road; a brother, James Von Gallimore of 321 Aycock St.; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. John Hill. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the residence of Timothy Varner, 2593 Noahtown Road.

James Barber Sr.
High Point - James Lawrence Barber, 58, of 504-B Saunders Place died Dec. 21, 1999, minutes after arrival at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in High Point, a son of Allen Scott Barber and Mary Alexander Barber. He was a graduate of William Penn High School in 1961, and attended Delaware State University, Wilmington, Del. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Lee Barber.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maxine Watkins Barber of the residence; two sons, James Lawrence Barber Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and Toby Barber of High Point; a daughter, Ms. April Barber of Greensboro; three brothers, Jesse Barber of San Francisco, Johnnie Barber and wife, Marilyn, of High Point and Melvin Barber of Greensboro; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilfong of High Point and Mrs. Iman Myhammad and husband, Sharif, of High Point; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, including Earl Nelson, who was very close to him; and other in-laws and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Eric Evans. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the National Cemetery, Salisbury. Visitation will be at the residence.

Asheboro - Elbert Christopher Cook died Dec. 24, 1999.

James Ford
High Point - James Donald Ford, 61, of 2605 Central Ave., died Dec. 23, 1999, minutes after arrival at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in Dillon, S.C. A son of Aaron and Rosa Mae Carmichael Ford, he had resided in High Point 40 years and was a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Marsh Furniture Company, and most recently, Thomasville Furniture Industries. His wife, Mary L. Ford, died May 5, 1998. A son, James A. Williamson died Dec. 28, 1990. His parents, a brother, Bobby Ford, and a sister Lennie E. Charmichael, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ann Baldwin, Ms. Doris Ann Ford and Ms. Denise Lynn Ford, all of High Point; four sons, Jimmie Lee Williamson, Willie A. Ford, Jerry L. Ford, and Cleveland R. Ford, all of High Point; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson, Jalen Ford; one brother, Billy Ford of Trenton N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Williamson of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Sadie Hatchell of Dillon S.C. There are other family members and friends.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Emmanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Lawrence Curtis. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Family visitation will be at the church Monday, 2 p.m. and other times at the residence. Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Lillie Gray
Trinity - Mrs. Lillie Smith Gray, 94, resident of 4643 Fairview Lane, died Dec. 23, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital after declining health for several months.
She was born in Randolph County, a daughter of John W. and Ida Smith. She had been a resident of High Point and Trinity most of her life and was of the Methodist faith. She was a former employee of Archdale Manufacturing Company and Sherrod Shirt Company. In 1926, she was married to William Murray Gray who preceded her in death in 1968.
Surviving are, two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Hedrick of 411 Park St., High Point, and Mrs. Betty Wall of the home; two sons, John Allen of Raleigh and James Robert Gray of 4641 Fairview Lane, Trinity; one sister, Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Britthaven of Davidson County; and one grandson, Gregory Allen Pearson.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Roger W. Porter. Interment will follow in the Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Caroline Green
High Point - Caroline Daniel Green, 82, of SunBridge for the Triad, died Sept. 6, 1999. She was the mother of David Allen Daniel, President of Piedmont Associated Industries. She had been in failing health for several years. Her remains were cremated and scattered in Lake Wylie, her beloved home of many years.
She was the owner of one of the first dance studios in the Charlotte area. She taught thousands of young people the art of dance. She also was responsible for starting the first Cotillion Club in Charlotte, aiding many teens to learn the social graces required to be involved in country club activities, debutante balls, weddings, etc. As an educator, she also was involved in a national dance organization, Dance Masters of America. At various times through the years, she served in many capacities, including serving as president of Carolina Dance Masters, the local chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fleet Green, a well-known musician in the Carolinas. He played clarinet and saxophone at the Cajun Queen in Charlotte until a few weeks before his death in February, 1989, at the age of 75. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Carole Watts.
Surviving are a son, David Allen Daniel, and a daughter-in-law, Linda; four grandchildren, Allen Daniel, Lindsay Daniel, Aaron Daniel and Audrey Daniel, all of High Point; a daughter, Maryanna Daniel of San Francisco; a brother, Erv Hinkle and his wife, Bettye of Dunwoody, Ga.; three nieces, Barbara Bramble of Atlanta and owner of a dance studio, Beverly Baugh of Wilmington and Holly Pitts of Dunwoody; three nephews, Rick Hinkle, a musician,of Atlanta, Jeff Hinkle of Lake Norman and Hamp Hinkle of Charlotte; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Hinkle of Wilmington, and Wylene Hinkle of Charlotte.
Barbara Little
High Point - Barbara Denise Little, 28, 615 - A Park St., died Dec. 23, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born on July 19, 1971, in Bennettsville, S.C., a daughter of Frank Williams and Deloris Goodman Williams. She was married to David M. Little who survives of the home. She attended Marlboro Senior High School and was a member of Spirit of Life Ministries Church where she was a member of the Senior Church. Her mother predeceased her.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Dante Little and Antwana Goodman; a daughter, Jasmine Stewart; her father, Frank Williams; her grandmother, Corrina Goodman; her mother in-law, Florence McQueen; her father in-law, David McQueen; two sisters-in-law, Chanta Little, and Marie Little; three nieces; two nephews; four aunts; and five uncles.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Spirit of Life Ministries with the Rev. Phillip Biggs officiating.
Tracey Shuler
High Point - Mr. Tracey Lee Shuler, 33, resident of 223 Friendly Ave., died Dec. 23, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born July 12, 1966, in Guilford County.
Surviving are one daughter, Ashton Danielle; parents, Phillip and Violet Gibson of 529 E. Fairfield Rd; four brothers, Wilford Shuler Jr., Keith Gibson, Phillip Gibson and Phillip Brewster Gibson all of High Point; two sisters, Debra English of High Point and Tina Garrison of Arcadia; grandfather, John Ray Odom. Also surviving are his companion of 11 years, Reid Rudisill, and two of his closest friends, Michael (Milo) Summers and Aaron Watson both of Cherryville.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery with the Revs. Ralph Pruitt and Milo Summers officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gibson, 529 E. Fairfield Rd.

High Point - Erick Stephon Townsend, 18, of 1609 Franklin Ave., died suddenly Dec. 21, 1999.
Erick was born on July 12, 1981, in Bennettsville, S.C., the son of Willie Hailey and Mildred Townsend Hailey. He had lived in High Point for 17 years where he attended High Point Central High School and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his father, of High Point; his mother of the home; one sister, Shena Townsend, also of the home; four brothers, Ken Hailey, Ron Hailey, Derick Hailey and Corey Hailey all of McColl, S.C.; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Catherine Townsend of Bennettsville, S.C.; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Ann Quick of Newark, N.J.; aunts; uncles; cousins; other relatives; and friends, among them Joanna Young, who was very dear to him.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Haizlip Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Henry J. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Family visitation will be Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel and other times at the residence.

Thomasville - Mr. Jack ãLutherä Wright, 76, of Beverly Health Care and formerly of 1152 Cid Road, died Dec. 23, 1999, at the nursing center.
He was born May 29, 1923, in Davidson County, a son of the late Arthur Franklin Wright and Ida Lee Lambeth Wright. He was retired from Burlington Industriesâ Denton plant and was a member of Cid United Methodist Church.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Cook of Asheboro and Miss Margie Wright of the home; two brothers Bickett Wright of Thomasville and Bruce Wright of Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with the Rev. Billy Joe Yates officiating. The interment will be in Cid United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the Funeral Home Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of the brother, Bruce Wright, 788 Cid Road, Thomasville.
