Thomasville - Mrs. Irene Hayes Fitzgerald, 49, of 2641 Briar Patch Lane died Dec. 25, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Doris Gaddis
Archdale - Doris Wilson Gaddis, 74, of 513 Playground Rd. died Dec. 25, 1999, at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1925, in Galax, Va., a daughter of Coy and Lena Bryant Wilson. She was employed for many years with Adams-Millis Corporation and was actively involved in the Democratic Party in Randolph County.
On Dec. 31, 1953, she was married to Claude Reitzel Dyke Gaddis, who died on Nov. 30, 1977.
Surviving are two sons, Nelson R. Randy Gaddis and wife, Carol, of Archdale and Alan R. Gaddis of Trinity; one brother, Paul Wilson of Roanoke, Va.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sechrest Archdale Chapel by Rev. Melvin B. Anderson. Interment will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
Roland Glenn
Denton - Roland A. Glenn, 89, died Dec. 25, 1999.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Briggs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jackie Hoover
Jackie Wayne Hoover, 40, of 307 Montlieu Avenue died Dec. 25, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1959, in Randolph County, a son of Willie Hoover and Hazel Hoover. He was employed with C. Allen Jones Construction Co. and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and Alcoholics Anonymous of High Point.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Hazel Hoover Leonard of Thomasville; two sons, Andy Hoover and Tony Hoover of Maryville, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Rick (Donna) Snyder and Mrs. Judy Cosme, both of Thomasville; two brothers, Raymond Hoover of Thomasville and Joel Hoover of Lexington.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by Rev. Mark Sink. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home 7-9 tonight and at the home of the sister, Mrs. Rick (Donna) Snyder, 106 Shamrock Dr., Thomasville.
Teressa Hutchins
High Point - Teressa Bemisderfer Hutchins, 49, died Dec. 25, 1999.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.
Jay Inman
Lexington - Jay Inman, 73, a former resident of Haywood Street died Dec. 24, 1999, at Sunbridge Nursing Center in High Point.
He was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Haywood County, a son of John Richard Inman and Zonie Caroline Warren Inman. He was a former employee with Thomasville Furniture Industries and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
On June 1, 1962, he was married to Grace Haynes Adams, who died April 4, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Linda) Reedy of Hayes and Mrs. Eugene (Hiawatha) Gentle of Hickory; one step-daughter, Mrs. Betty Hunt of Silver Valley Community, Lexington; one step-son, Billy Adams of Thomasville; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Mintz of Thomasville; one brother, Frank Inman of Darrington, Wash.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 15 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by the Rev. Charles Stephenson. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Hazel Laster
Thomasville - Mrs. Hazel Lucille McCarson Laster, 74, of 505 Koontz Avenue died Dec. 24, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born July 13, 1925, in Greenville County, S.C., daughter of William Norman McCarson and Annie Mae Frazier McCarson. She was a homemaker and a member of Bright Light Freewill Baptist Church.
She was married to James Jimmy Gordon Laster Jr., who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Sharon) Rowe of Hickory; one son, Albert T. Ted Bacon Jr. of Thomasville; two sisters, Mrs. George (Donniese) Moose of Virginia Beach, Va. and Mrs. Ruby Bradshaw of Hampton, Va.; one brother, Charles McCarson and wife, Ella Mae, of Thomasville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by the Rev. Henry King. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of the brother, Charles McCarson, 252 Angela Drive, Thomasville.

Vernon Luther
Thomasville - Vernon Fletcher Luther, 76, of 26 Lambeth Drive died Dec. 25, 1999, in the Sunbridge Nursing Center in Lexington.
He was born June 6, 1923, in Randolph County, the son of J.V. Luther and Lela Hill Luther. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with the 208th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theatre. He was awarded the EAMET campaign Medal, Four Bronze Stars, Purple Heart and Victory Medals.
Returning from service, he was employed with Davidson Dry Goods in Thomasville. He was a retired employee with the Thomasville Post Office, with 31 years of service. Following retirement, he was employed part time with Cedar Lodge Market, Elliott Florist and Winn-Dixie. He was a former member of the Thomasville VFW and Thomasville Moose Lodge.
He was a life-time member of the Fair Grove Lions Club, receiving Lion of the Year recognition 1994-95, served as Lion Tamer 1994-95 and was a life-time member of the N.C. Lions. He was a charter Cub Scout Master, Troop 126, with the First Baptist Church.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was a founding member of Park Place Baptist Church. With his love of music and being involved in several other local churches such as Cedar Lodge Baptist Church and First Baptist Church, where he was an active participant with the church's musical programs, including being an original member of the Rainbow Quartet. On Aug. 16, 1942, he was married to Grace Hilton, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Judy Rudisell and husband, Larry, of 4 Lambeth Drive and Mrs. Armendia Mindy Vernon and husband, Kent, of 313 Ridgeland Drive, High Point; two sons, Michael F. Luther and wife, Elisabeth, of 1279 Westminster Drive, High Point, and Johnny Luther of 28 Lambeth Drive; nine grandchildren, Scott Rudisell and wife, Jennifer, Alan Rudisell and wife, Amy, Aaron Hodges and wife, Heidi, Nicole Luther, Chris Rudisell and wife, Amy, John Rudisell and wife, Amy, Mark Vernon, Sarah Luther and Andrew Luther; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Hodges.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by Dr. Randy Stewart. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home tonight from 7-9 and other times at the home.

Greensboro - Kurney Monroe Poole, 86, died Dec. 25, 1999.

Asheboro - Iretha Livengood Sowers, 74, died Dec. 24, 1999.

Jackie Sprouse
Lexington - Jackie Lee Sprouse, 60, of 2404 Van Buren Street died Dec. 24, 1999, at his residence after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Ellerbe, a son of Lee Jesse and Cora Lockhart Sprouse. He had been a resident of High Point for the past 12 years and was a former furniture worker.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Elisa (Darlene) Sprouse of Thomasville and Mrs. Billy (Revonda) Styles of the home; two sons, Johnny Leonard Sprouse of 1700 Pershing Street and Christopher Todd Sprouse of 7049 Kennedy Road, Trinity; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Shirley) Comer of Westmoore, Mrs. Leroy (Emily) Thompson of Asheboro and Mrs. Bill (Doris) Strider of Franklinville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Eugene Sprouse.
Graveside service and burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Franklinville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
Maude Varner
High Point - Mrs. Maude Alford Varner, 95, of the Thomasville-Silver Valley area all of her life died Dec. 25, 1999, at the CenterClair Nursing Home in Lexington.
She was born Oct. 18, 1904, in Randolph County, a daughter of James Milton Alford and Annie Cheek Alford. She was a retired employee with Amazon Cotton Mill, following 45 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
On Nov. 10, 1923, she was married to Clifford Henery Varner, who died April 28, 1979. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Imogene Varner Martin on Sept. 18, 1962.
Surviving are: two sons, William Raeford Varner of Thomasville and Billy Leon Varner of Beck's Church Road, Lexington; one sister, Ruth Alford of Thomasville; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be noon Tuesday at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Van E. Brinkley. The body will remain at the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. Visitation will be at the funeral home tonight from 6:30-8:30.
