William Greene
Archdale - William Leon “Buck” Greene, 74, of 301 Havenwood Drive died Jan. 4, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Sanford, a son of Ollie A. and Elsie Cox Greene. He was a resident of Greensboro and Archdale most of his life and was a retiree of Overnite Transportation, where he worked for 44 years. He was a member of Allen Jay Baptist Church. On Sept. 25, 1982, he married Louise Mabe, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Charles R. Deal Jr. of Goldsboro; a daughter, Mrs. Brian (Lori Deal) Dupre of Archdale; two grandchildren, Niki Dupre and Brian Dupre Jr.; and two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Angel and Mrs. Beulah Waddell, both of Sanford.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Allen Jay Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger W. Carmichael. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

Charles Henkel Jr.
Trinity - Charles “Woody” Henkel Jr., 60, of 5578 Kimberly Lane died Jan. 5, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Mecklenburg County, a son of Charles Woodrow and Marjorie Short Henkel. He was a former employee of Mid-State Forklift. On Sept. 3, 1960, he married Sybil Bair, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are three children, Charles “David” Henkel of Ft. Belvoir, Va., Beth Henkel Smith of Archdale and Allen C. Henkel of Trinity; and four grandchildren, Stan Lake, Shawn Lake, Staci Lake and Blake Henkel.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the residence of his daughter, Beth H. Smith, 302 Daniel Paul Drive, Archdale.

High Point - Mrs. Kathryn Hoover Jones, 92, of 225 Crestwood Circle died Jan 4, 2000, at her home.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Janet Ingram; and a daughter, Deloris Ohlson.

Lena Kindley
Thomasville - Lena Tussey Kindley, 91, of Pineywood Road died Jan. 5, 2000, at The Oaks of Thomasville.
She was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Davidson County, a daughter of Jesse Washington and Jessie Thomason Tussey. She was a retiree of Eckerd Drug Stores, High Point. In 1930, she married Lester Odell Kindley, who preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1962. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Kindley Galloway in 1972.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Julie Galloway King of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Sula Teague of High Point and Mrs. Wilma Peace of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Jo Ann Maley of Thomasville.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Livengood. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Laws.

Roy Lunsford
Winston-Salem - Roy Edgar Lunsford, 79, of 3364 Valley Road died Jan. 4, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Winston-Salem, a son of Walter Ray and Martha Caudle Lunsford. He was a self-employed plumber and member of First Wesleyan Church. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Surviving are his wife, Maude Hayes Lunsford of the residence; five daughters, Janice L. Blanton of Lexington, Patricia L. Skeen and her husband, Jerry, of High Point, Ruth L. Grant of Salem, Ore., Audrey L. Whisenhunt and her husband, Ricky, of East Bend, and Susan L. Mitchell and her husband, Ronald, of King; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Danner, Juanita Peoples and Olivia Shore, all of Winston-Salem, and Oreta Tate of Kernersville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel by the Rev. David Shrum. Burial will be in Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons.

Thomasville - Hubert Wesley “Joe” Reece, 72, of 407 Cox Ave. died at 12:23 p.m. Jan. 4, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Davidson County, a son of Charlie W. and Sallie Trotter Reece. He was a resident of Davidson County all his life. He was retired and had worked with Carson Inc. and Burlington House Furniture. On Jan. 20, 1979, he married Wanda Ziegler, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Helen) Elberson of Thomasville and Mrs. Ken (Joyce) White of Surf City; and a brother, Bill Reece and his wife, Evelyn, of Thomasville.

Greensboro - Mrs. Aurelia Harris Rush, 90, of 4416 Anderson St. died Jan. 3, 2000, at Human Service Alliance, Winston-Salem.
Surviving are two nephews, John H. Harris III and his wife, Lois, and the Rev. Nathan A. Harris of Cleveland, Ohio.

Bernice Steele
High Point - Ms. Bernice Hurley “Shake” Steele, 78, of 107 Charles Ave. died Jan. 3, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital where she had been a patient since Dec. 24, 1999.
She was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Montgomery County, a daughter of Theodore and Dilcie Robinson Steele, who both preceded her in death. She resided in High Point for 50 years and for many of these years she was an employee at Top of the Mart, where she was the pastry chef. She was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by three sons, Tommy Lee “Squeak” Steele, Kenneth Steele and Rupert Steele; a daughter, Celeste McRae; two grandchildren, Steven Turner and Brandy Turner; and a sister, Blanche Steed.
Surviving are four daughters, Ms. Mackie Steele of the residence, Mrs. Evelyn LeGrande and her husband, Velvet, Mrs. Bettye Curtis and her husband, the Rev. Bobby Curtis, all of High Point, and Ms. Gail Steele of Greensboro; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Guilford Steele and his wife, Classie, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Davis of Candor; a son-in-law, Ernest “Lou” McRae of Greensboro; and other in-laws and friends.

Conway, S.C. - Louise G. Ariel, 61, of Aaron Street died Jan 5, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center following an illness.
She was born in Loris, a daughter of Leonard and Mazelle Martin Greenwood, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
Surviving are her husband, Rene J. Ariel of the residence; two sons, Timmy Mincey and Steve Mincey, both of Conway; a daughter, Joyce Galloway of Conway; three brothers, Eddie Greenwood of Trinity, Lonnie Greenwood of Thomasville, N.C., and Tommy Greenwood of Asheboro, N.C.; two sisters, Eula Mae Nance of Trinity, N.C., and Lois Ann Watkins of Chadbourn, N.C.; a stepson, Michael Ariel of Fall River, Maine; a stepdaughter, Carol Lynn Myers; six grandchildren, Wayne, Crystal, Tommy, Jennifer, Tiffany and Jeremy.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Denton - Roland A. Glenn, 89, of 18450 N.C 109 S., died Dec. 25, 1999.
He was born Feb. 8, 1910, in Chatham County, a son of Robert and Ida Griffin Glenn. He attended Kings College, Bristol, Tenn., and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy. He was married to Julia Martin Glenn, who preceded him in death Dec. 15, 1992.
Surviving are a niece, Sankie Stallings of Mt. Olive.

High Point - Franklin D. Roosevelt Howze, 65, of Evergreen Nursing Home died Jan. 4, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1934, in Great Falls, S.C., a son of Tom and Amelia Cousar Howze, who preceded him in death. He was a former employee of Leggett & Platt Inc. He attended Great Falls County Schools and was of the Holiness faith. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Howze; two brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are nine sons, the Rev. Franklin Howze, Curtis Howze, Charles Howze, and the Rev. Richard Howze, Curtis B. McNeil, Mike McNeil, Adam McNeil Howze, Sherman Howze and Tony Howze, all of High Point; three daughters, Evangelist Cynthia H. Page, Ms. Flora Jean Howze, and Mrs. Sabrina H. Preston, all of High Point; three sisters, Mrs. Janie Patterson (Charles) of Waco, Louise Williams and Shirley Wilson (James), both of High Point; four daughters-in-law, Valerie W. Howze, Evangelist Jennie M. Howze, and Trina McNeil, all of High Point, and Stephanie Howze of Thomasville; two sons-in-law, Frank Page and Anthony Preston, both of High Point; 31 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, S.B. Kinsey Sink
Winston-Salem - Kinsey Taylor Sink, 2, of W. Clemmonsville Road died Jan. 4, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 15, 1997, in Forsyth County, a daughter of Frank and Kimberly Weavil Sink. Even though Kinsey’s life was too short, she brought joy and happiness to everyone who knew her.
Surviving are her parents of the residence; maternal grandparents, Jeff and Chippy Weavil of Winston-Salem; paternal grandparents, Buddy and Betty Sink of Winston-Salem; three great-grandparents, Bruce and Nancy Weavil of High Point, and Dot Myers of Winston-Salem; other loving family, friends; and her little dog, Sas.

He was born Jan. 1, 1933, in Laos a son of Phomma and Leur Sinpaseuth. He was a member of theLao Church at Lexington Avenue Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Khoun Sinpaseuth of the residence; three sons, Torm Sinpaseuth, Boonthong Sinpaseuth and Ubol Sinpaseuth; a daughter, Orlathai Sinpaseuth; a brother, Kongsy Sinpaseuth; and a sister, Naly Sinpaseuth.

Surviving are three daughters, Lucille Lewis and her husband, John, Juanita Sullivan and her husband, Robert, and Cynthia Montgomery and her husband, Franklin; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
