Thomasville - Mrs. Mary Kathleen Sanders Cash, 67, of 309 Carter Drive died Jan. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born June 14, 1932, in Greenwood County, S.C. a daughter of John Paul and Mary Eula Griffith Sanders. She retired from Thomas Manufacturing Co. She was a member of I.T. Mann, Post 87 of High Point. She attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. On August 1, 1947, she married Grady Moody Cash, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mickey (Ann) Black of Thomasville; two sons, Charles Grady Cash of Richmond, Va., and Arthur Paul Cash of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Charles Grady Cash II, Christopher Gus Cash, Nicole Mari Cash, Colleen Emma Cash, Mickey Lane Black Jr., Mary Anitra Black and Tyler Elizabeth Cash; and two great-grandchildren, Briana Lynn Cash and Charles Grady Cash III.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church by Dr. Keith Carroll and the Rev. Carroll Upton. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ann Black, 124 Kaylan Lane, Heritage Farms, Thomasville.

F. L. Causey
Columbia, S.C. - Franklin Lionel Causey, 61, died Jan. 21, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1938, in Horry County, a son of Sam Mace and Henrietta Dimmery Causey, who preceded him in death. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Richland County. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW, the Fort Jackson Anglers and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church, Camden. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Mace Causey and a sister, Doris Jewell Causey Cannon.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth L. and Julie B. Causey of Sophia, N.C., and Rodney and Brenda Welch of Asheboro, N.C.; a daughter, Connie Welch of Asheboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Stevi Causey, Samantha Causey, Madison Causey, Tabatha Welch, Nina Welch, Barbara Welch, Daniel Welch and Ben Welch; three brothers, Ronald I. Causey of Green Sea, Ralph D. Causey of Florence and Joseph Darius Causey of Florence; two sisters, Norma Causey Cullipher of Mullins and Darlyn Causey Goude of Camden.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, Mullins, by the Rev. James T. Cullipher and the Rev. Don Goude. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Nichols. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Lawson
High Point - Mrs. Elizabeth Carolyn Hix Lawson, 79, of 822 Fifth St. died Jan. 21, 2000, at Evergreen Nursing Home.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Alcorn County, Miss., a daughter of Elmer and Carrie Anderton Hix. She was employed at High Point Regional Hospital as health care patient attendant until her retirement. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, the Dot Hendrix Sunday School Class and the Saint’s Alive Choir. On April 14, 1945, she married Frank Edward Lawson Jr., who preceded her in death March 27, 1987.
Surviving are two sons, Frank Edward Lawson III of Sopia and Russ Lawson and his wife, Elaine, of Morganton; three grandchildren, Vincent Lawson, Chad Lawson and Sara Lawson; and two great-grandchildren, Meagan and Katy Lawson.
Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Sechrest Funeral Home Chapel, High Point, by the Rev. Gene Phillips. Inurnment will be at a later date in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Robert Lewis
High Point - Robert Clyde Lewis, 92, of 1418 Wales Drive died Jan. 21, 2000, at his residence following three years of declining health.
He was born June 30, 1907, in Moore County, a son of Daniel Clayton and Sarah Bell Richardson Lewis. He was a resident of High Point since 1930. He was owner and operator of Tucker Dry Cleaners and retired after 50 years of service. He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church and the Rue Holder Sunday School Class. He was active in numerous committees of the church and was a former deacon. He was a volunteer member of the High Point Fire Department, and a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics and also was a lifelong member of the High Point Host Lions Club. On Dec. 31, 1938, he married the former Helen Carroll, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Clyde Lewis; four brothers, Lacy Lewis, Alton Lewis, Floyd Lewis and J.C. Lewis; and four sisters, Beulah Martin, Shule Garner, Annie Marie Cheek and Mayne Cloft. He loved his family, his church and a host of friends.
Also surviving are a son, Charles Lewis and his wife, Jane, of LaGuna Niguel, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Noel (Vickie) Freeman of Welcome and Ms. Shirley Griffin of Charlotte; a brother, Newton Lewis of 2410 Woodruff Avenue; a sister, Ms. Glenn Kennedy of Eagle Springs; six grandchildren, Leslie Freeman, Rob Freeman and his wife, Katie, Ashley Hollar and her husband, Paxton, Tripp Griffin, Bryn Briner and her husband, John, and Britta Walh and her husband, Charlie.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Green Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Garner. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point and other times at the residence.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Sallie Moody
Jacksonville - Mrs. Sallie Holland Walters Moody, 90, of Britthaven of Jacksonville, died Jan. 20, 2000.
She was born Nov. 29, 1909, a daughter of Hudson Hampton Holland Sr. and Jenny Rosette Little Holland, who preceded her in death. She married Glenn Samuel Moody who preceded her in death May 15, 1967. She was a homemaker and a member of Holiness Church. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Auta Holland Poythress on Nov. 27, 1999.
Surviving are a brother, H.H. Tom Holland Jr. of Surf City.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Perdue. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
James Sibbitt
Trinity - James “Jamie” Edward Sibbitt, 27, of 5242 Cumby Road died Jan. 21, 2000, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 11, 1972, in Randolph County, a son of James William and Barbara Spivey Sibbitt. He was a graduate of Trinity High School.
Surviving are his mother of the residence; his father of High Point; his maternal grandparents, Edward Eugene and Ann Rachel Spivey of Trinity; and a sister, Windy Sibbitt of the residence.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Garland Watson
High Point - Garland Talmadge Watson, 86, of 1714-C N. Centennial St. died Jan. 19, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Home, High Point. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Bill Balkcum
High Point - Bill M. Balkcum, 66, of Abbie Avenue died Jan. 22, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in High Point, Aug. 14, 1933, a son of Mack and Nell Marie Roach Balkcum. He was a graduate of High Point High School and was of the Quaker faith. He was a retired manager of The Dog House.
He was a loving husband and father and was well liked by everyone he met. He married Sharyn Henderson Leister Dec. 12, 1985, and she survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Greg Balkcum and his wife, Peg, of Charlotte and Andy Leister and his wife, Jennifer, of Trinity; one sister, Jewel Balkcum of High Point; one aunt, Edith Roach of High Point; and two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Sarah Balkcum.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lloyd Hunsucker. Burial will be in Springfield Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service hour, and other times at the home of the sister, Jewel Balkcum, 914 N. Centennial St.

Etta Brown
Trinity - Etta Eaton Wright Brown, 92, died Jan. 23, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Jan. 12, 1908, in Stokes County, daughter of Virgil Branson and Carrie Lee Boyles Eaton, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the High Point Seven Day Advent Church. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Elijah M. Wright, who died in 1953, and Richard W. Brown, who died in 1982.
Surviving are daughters and son-in-laws, Mrs. Eulene Gallimore, Shirley Mae Hamer and her husband, Boyce, Shelby Jean Dunning and her husband, Robert, Julie Marie Norcott and her husband, W. Francis; a stepson, Julian Brown; brothers, Thurman Eaton and Herbert Eaton; sisters, Mrs. Arlene Westmoreland and Helen Locile Mickey; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at High Point Seventh Day Advent Church by Elder Steven Gallimore. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pinnacle Baptist Church Cemetery in Pinnacle. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cumby Family Funeral Home in Archdale.

Archdale - Mrs. Melva Cole Cornelison, 87, of 423 Aldridge Road died Jan. 22, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Dec. 14, 1912, in Montgomery County to Jonah and Lizzie Lucas Cole. She was a homemaker and was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting and the Elizabeth Frye Sunday School Class.
She was married to Blaine Howard Cornelison, who died Dec. 23, 1993.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Emogene Yarborough and her husband, Jerry, of High Point; two sons, Sherron Howard Cornelison and his wife, Emily, of Trinity and Hoyle R. Cornelison and his wife, Charline, of Archdale; two grandchildren, Robert Yarborough of Poinciana, Fla. and Christy Cornelison of Apex; three brothers, Grady Cole of Siler City, Hubert Cole of Elmira, N.Y., and Paul Cole of Aberdeen; and four sisters, Mrs. Louise Tuttle of High Point, Mrs. Elaine Hendricks and her husband, Fred, of Raeford, Mrs. Myrta Davis and her husband, Buck, and Mrs. Ruby Easterling and her husband, James, all of Aberdeen.

Treva Elliott
High Point - Mrs. Treva Beck Elliott, 94, a former resident of 509 Hedrick Ave., died Jan. 22, 2000, in Evergreens Nursing Home.
She was born March 12, 1905, in Davidson County, a daughter of Garfield and Betty Perry Beck. She had been a resident of High Point most of her life and was retired from Triangle Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Christ Community Church, Sunday School and was church organist for 40 years. On June 26, 1927, she married Walter Lee Elliott who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1997.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frances Elliott of 1409 Forrest St.; a brother, Byron Beck of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Jerolene Polke and her husband, Gerald, of Belmont Avenue; a granddaughter, Mrs. Lisa E. Waldroup and her husband, Rick, of High Point; a grandson, Phillip E. Hejl of Charlotte; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Catherine Hejl, Brooks Anderson Hejl and Graehme Cochran Hejl of Charlotte and Joshua Elliott Waldroup of High Point. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Daynese Elliott; a son, Donald E. Elliott; a brother, John G. Beck; a sister, Nancy Sumner; and a granddaughter, Patti Hejl.

Robert Fields
Archdale - Robert Milton Fields, 71, of 209 Linda Dr. died Jan. 22, 2000, at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1928, in Guilford County, to Samuel Rufus and Lala Dickerson Fields. He had lived most of his life in the Archdale area, was a 1947 graduate of Allen Jay High School and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was retired from Drexel-Heritage, Inc. He was a Baptist.
In 1953, he was married to the former Aleen Marie Smith, who died March 29, 1996. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Mounce, who died in 1997.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Debra F. Pulliam of Trinity, Mrs. Brenda M. Small of High Point and Mrs. Kathy F. Blommaert of Sophia; one son, Phillip Fields of Mocksville; one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Frazier of High Point; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by Rev. Dr. Keith D. Letterman. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Kernersville - Mrs. Ellen Swett Jones, 81, of 812 Birch Lane, Apt. 11-D, died Jan. 23, 2000 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

Actna Ruth
Lincolnton, Ga. - Ms. Actna Davis Ruth, 75, of Lincolnton, Ga. died Jan. 21, 2000, at the Lake Crossing Health Center.
She was born in Randolph County, N.C., and was a former Eckerds employee. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Interlachen, Fla.
Surviving are one son, John Ruth Jr. of Lincolnton; one daughter, Linda L. Sparks of Lincolnton; two step-sisters, Shelby Fink and Bonnie Coble of High Point, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Whitehall Methodist Church Cemetery in Whitehall, N.C. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, N.C.
William Stack
Salisbury - William Lloyd Stack, 73, died 2 a.m. Jan. 22, 2000, at W.G. “Bill” Heffner V.A. Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Guilford County, a son of Raymond and Ruby Elizabeth Orrell Stack, who preceded him in death. He attended Guilford County schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was a salesman for a number of years while living in High Point. After moving to Salisbury, he was owner and operator of the Salisbury Glidden Paint Center until his retirement. He was a charter member of Salisbury Christian Fellowship, where he was active in all phases of church work. He also was an elder and member of the adult Sunday school class. On July 27, 1946, he married Dorothy Geneva Grissett, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hilton L. (Toni) Stack Lossi of Shallotte and Mrs. Robert (Meloney) Stack Rulhlman of Salisbury; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Stack Stanley of Clearwater, Fla.; and three grandsons.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salisbury Christian Fellowship by the Rev. Don Vess and the Rev. Lawrence Lee. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Salisbury Christian Fellowship and at other at the residence.

Thomasville - Clifford Swain, 84, a resident of Cox Avenue, died Jan. 22, 2000, in the Community General Hospital.

High Point - Belvedere Beal Whitfield, 49, of 709 S. Scientific St. died Jan. 21, 2000 at his residence.
She was born in Chatham County and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was self-employed. She loved people, life and was extremely proud of her son. She was loved by all.
Surviving are one son, Jeff Beal and his fiancee, Cindy Holt, of Gulf; a half-brother, John Wayne Jacobs of Gulf; an aunt, Mrs. Mark Combs of High Point; best friend and soul mate, Rik Lee of High Point.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church at 503 Alton King Road, Gulf, by the Rev. Wayne Rigney. A memorial service will take place later for her friends in High Point at the home of Rik Lee. Memorials may be sent to a memorial fund established in her name.
