William Jernigan
Archdale - William David Jernigan, 73, of 5887 Oak Knoll Drive died Feb. 15, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1926, in Johnston County, a son of David and Annie Phillips Jernigan, who preceded him in death. He married Eloise Parker Jernigan in 1948. He was a retired employee of Akzo Chemicals. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of Cloverdale Church of the Living God of High Point.
Surviving are his wife of the residence; a daughter, Judy Jernigan Howard of Trinity; three sons, Gale Jernigan of Randleman, Dennis Jernigan of Archdale, and Gary Jernigan of High Point; three brothers, Joseph Jernigan of Archdale, James Jernigan of Trinity and John Jernigan of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Lydie Carson and Bertha Hall, both of Dunn; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, by the Rev. David E. Perry. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Peggy Leonard
Thomasville - Mrs. Peggy Joyce Stewart Leonard, 65, of 117 Circle Drive died Feb. 16, 2000, at Community General Hospital.

Thomasville - Mrs. Charlotte Anne Holzworth Patterson, 64, of 503 Pontiac Drive died Feb. 16, 2000, at Community General Hospital.

Lexington - Ms. Daphne Lamar Pearson, 50, of Arthur Drive died at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 14, 2000, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
Gary Pierce
Thomasville - Gary D. Pierce went to be with Jesus at 9:55 a.m., Feb. 16, 2000, after two years of declining health. He was injured in a car accident Nov. 7, 1960, at the age of 15, that left him a quadriplegic. For 40 years, he was a true soldier and fought a hard fight to the end. He was an inspiration to his family and friends. His strength has and will carry all of us through.
He received his high school diploma certificate Dec. 14, 1979, and an associate of science degree in transportation on May 13, 1982. On April 29, 1983, he married Lisa Todd. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Ralph Pierce and three aunts, Mrs. Eunice Pierce, Mrs. Moring Wagner and Mrs. Charlotte Ellis.
Surviving are his loving and dedicated wife of the residence; his parents of Thomasville; a sister, Gwen P. Pitts and her husband, Jack, of High Point; a brother, Terry C. Pierce and his wife, Nancy, of Thomasville; a niece, Cynthia D. Wilmoth; three nephews, Tracy C. Pierce, M. Kevin Hayes and Mark C. Pierce; two great-nephews, Dillon Pierce and Jordan Smith; aunts and uncles, Louie and Glenna Taylor of Mt. Airy, Everette Pierce of Lexington, Eva Hill of Thomasville, Troy and Doris Pierce of Lexington, the Rev. Warren and Oleen Pierce of Lexington, Elwood and Josephine Pierce of Albermarle, Barbara Pierce of Archdale, Lacy and Inez Pierce of Asheboro, and Coleen Ward of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law, Elneida L. Todd of Thomasville; 27 first cousins; numerous second and third cousins; three special friends, Chris Todd, Robert Holloman and Glen Townsend.
He was cremated. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1051/2 Harris Street.

David Stephens
Archdale - David Eugene Stephens, 36, of 6044 Poole Road, Lot 6, died Feb. 14, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born July 27, 1963, in Guilford County, a son of Richard Eugene and Mary Lou Cardwell Stephens. He was in furniture sales and a member of Highland Baptist Church. He married the former Tina Marie Williamson, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two sons, Terry Dwayne Stephens and Daniel Ray Stephens, both of the residence; his parents of Archdale; two brothers, Donnie Stephens and Allen Stephens, both of Archdale; two sisters, Jeannie Poole and Mary Ann Johnson, both of Archdale.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Home, Archdale, by the Rev. Phillip Talton. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Lexington - Carolyn Honeycutt Beck, 58, died Feb. 20, 2000.

Lexington - Ms. Carolyn Hartley Bulla, 60, died Feb. 20, 2000.

Beulah Childress
Thomasville - Mrs. Beulah Rea Hege Childress, 80, of 1840 Cunningham Road died Feb. 19, 2000, at 11:30 a.m.
She was born Juen 4, 1919, in Davidson County a daughter of the Manie Garland Hege and Clemmie Berrier Hege, who preceded her in death. She was a retired employee of Britthaven of Davidson. She was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and a member of the Ever Ready Sunday School Class at the church. She was also a former Sunday school teacher.
She was married to Thomas Franklin Childress, who preceded her in death March 7, 1978. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jerry C. Hege, who died March 8, 1999.
Surviving are one son, Bobby F. Childress of Thomasville; four sisters, Mrs. Versie Lee Hege, Mrs. Rebecca Hotle and Mrs. Margaret Wood, all of High Point and Mrs. Leople Parrish of Thomasville; one brother, Harvey Hege of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church by Dr. E. Keith Carroll and Rev. Carroll M. Upton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home 1840 Cunningham Rd.

Laverne Gobble
Thomasville - Mrs. Laverne Sexton Gobble, 69, of 448 Stemp-Everhart Road died Feb. 20, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born March 31, 1930, in Davidson County, Healing Springs Community, a daughter of Dexter Sexton and Mary Dunin Sexton. She was a retired employee with Britthaven of Davidson. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Lexington. On Aug. 5, 1944, she was married to Charles Henry Gobble, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ms. Fran McMillan of High Point and Mrs. Angela Shelton of Thomasville; two sons, Dr. Russell Gobble and Charles D. Gobble, both of Thomasville; one sister, Mrs. Leona Snider of Denton; and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel by the Rev. Wayne Knight. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home, 448 Stemp-Everhart Road.

High Point - Ollie F. Griffin, 81, died Feb. 20, 2000, at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville.

Doris McBride
Greensboro - Mrs. Doris Holt McBride, 68, of 709 Hogan St. died Feb. 20, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a retired nurse from Health Haven Nursing Home, now known as Britthaven of Guilford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph McBride.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Deborah McBride of Greensboro; one brother, Bob Holt of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Hanes-Lineberry, Sedgefield Chapel.
