High Point - Ms. Crystal Potts, 19, of 1604 Franklin Ave., died Sept. 20, 1999.
She was born July 23, 1980 in Greensboro, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hickman of Greensboro and Mr. and Mrs. Victory & Lisa Ballard of High Point. She was a cashier at Krispy Kreme Doughnut.
Funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Hargett-Gilmore Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Banks. Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 5 p.m. at the chapel and other times at the home.
Andrew Reagan
High Point - Mr. Andrew Louis Reagan, 85, of 257 Dorothy St. died Sept. 25, 1999 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 3, 1913 in Lenoir City Tenn. A son of the late William Anderson Reagan and Heddi Jane Davis Reagan. He was a retired carpet installer. He was a World War II Veteran.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held Monday, at 3 p.m. at Floral Garden Park by the Rev. George Dowd. Memorials may be made to the local DAV or VFW of donors choice. Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is serving the Reagan family.

Jamestown - Lowell ‘‘Dean’’ Long, 66, of Jamestown, died Sept. 26, 1999, at Friendship Care in Greensboro, following a long illness.

Lexington - Essie Leora Laws Cline, 78, of Lexington HealthCare, formerly of Myers Road, died at 10:58 p.m. Sept. 27, 1999, at Lexington HealthCare.
There will be no funeral service. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home.
George Hairston
Jamestown - George Levert Hairston, 80, of 302 N. Scientific St. died Sept. 27, 1999, in High Point.
He was born March 12, 1919, in Rockingham, a son of Julius and Beulah Malloy Hairston. He attended Florence Elementary School. He was a former employee of Tip Top Bakery and Oakdale Cott airston; one sister, Cassie Webster; five grandchildren, Kip Jackson, Shawn Davis, Darold Hairston, Tiffany Hairston and Keisha Hairston; and seven great-grandchildren, Lashonda, Micheal, Alexis, Ashley, Aleshia, Anthony and Kip Jr.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Foster Grove Baptist Church, 112 N. Scientific St, by B.D. Curtis. Burial will be in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be 7-8 tonight at Hargett-Gilmore Funeral Service and other times at the residence.
Alma Haithcock
Jamestown - Mrs. Alma “Bonnie” Meacham Haithcock, 77, formerly of 107 Royal Road, died at 5:10 a.m. Sept. 28, 1999, at Maryfield Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Montgomery County, a daughter of Charlie and Emma Poole Meacham. She had been a resident of High Point since 1944 and in 1981, she moved to Jamestown. She was a member of Archdale United Methodist Church and the Adult Fellowship Class. She was cofounder of Cloverleaf Supermarkets. On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Baxter Wilburn Haithcock, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons, Randy Haithcock and his wife, Tina, of 4506 Dantzler Court and Gary Haithcock and his wife, Linda, of 203 Royal Road, Jamestown; three brothers, Poole Meacham of Asheboro, Bruce Meacham of Mt. Gilead and Jerry Meacham of Charlotte; one sister, Ms. Marcile Freeman of Mt. Gilead; four granddaughters, Kim Lester and her husband, Mike, Kristy Mastrogianakis and her husband, George, Tara Soule and her husband, Scott, and Leah Haithcock; and one great-grandson, Tyler Mastrogianakis.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by Dr. Mary John Dye. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lexington - Lacy Ray Koonts Jr., 75, of W. Center St., Ext., died at 9:15 p.m. Sept. 27, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a serious illness of two months.

High Point - Mrs. Jennie Robinson Rush, 98, of 811-A Leonard Ave. died Sept. 28, 1999, at Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville, where she had been a patient since Aug. 23, 1999.

Robert Bailey
Greensboro - Robert Lee Bailey, 77, died Sept. 27, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor. He also was owner and operator of Pa Pa’s Place in Liberty, Coliseum Restaurant, and Bob’s Cafe, both in Greensboro.
Surviving are his wife, Alba Bailey of Greensboro; six daughters, Barbara Trollinger of Florida, Diane Cheek of Georgia, Gail Honeycutt of Trinity, Anita Sipper of Top Soil Beach, and Carol Gray and Loura Petty, both of Greensboro; two sons, Jimmy Lee Bailey and Kenney Bailey, both of Greensboro; a sister, Alma Dees of Georgia; two brothers, Claude Bailey of Charlotte and Howard Bailey of Florida; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.
Frances Byers
Forest City - Mrs. Frances Tate Byers, 71, of 539 Kelly Road died Sept. 29, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of Roy Jackson and Fannie Jane Ward Tate. She was a member of Caroleen United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James M. Tate and E.S. “Hoody” Tate; and a sister, Vera Tate Wilson.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Morris J. Byers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Emily Byers of Rutherfordton and the Rev. Roy T. and Janis Byers of Bostic; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sybil and Jim Wells of Henrietta and Claudia and Monty Savoy of Forest City; a brother, Robert Tate of Gastonia; eight grandchildren, Clinton Byers, Garrett Byers, A.J. Savoy, Julia Louise Savoy, Catherine Leigh Byers, Meredith Lyn Byers, Bryan Tate Byers and Spencer Gregory Byers.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Caroleen United Methodist Church by the Rev. Kim Higgins and the Rev. John E. Davis Jr. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

Billy Miller
High Point - Billy W. Miller, 78, died Sept. 29, 1999, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born in Lexington and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Sears as shipping department head, after 35 years of employment. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Elizabeth Koontz Miller.
Surviving are his current wife of 20 years, Sara Elizabeth “Lib” Miller; a daughter, Ann Miller Lewis of High Point; a stepdaughter, Laura K. Parrish of High Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wade Miller II and Karen Miller of Johnson City, Tenn.; a stepson, Randal Reid Varner and his wife, Kelly, of Greensboro; a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Miller of High Point; and six grandchildren.
Graveside service of remembrance will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel in Greensboro and other times at the residence.
W.J. Reid
High Point - W.J. “Dub” Reid, 70, of 1519 Pecan Drive died at 1:50 p.m. Sept. 29, 1999, at his residence following declining health of several months.
He was born May 5, 1929, in Surry County, a son of James Frank and Ola White Reid. He had been a resident of High Point since 1959 and was a former employee of Alma Desk Co. and Graphik Dimensions. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean conflict and was a member of New Covenant Lutheran Church. On Sept. 1, 1952, he married Mary Key, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Gina) Hodges of High Point; one son, Stanley James Reid of Asheboro; one sister, Mrs. Rufus (Mary Claudine) Ward of Jamestown; one brother, Wesley Ray Reid of Thomasville; and three grandchildren, Brittany Hodges, Matthew Hodges and Tyler Hodges.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Covenant Lutheran Church by the Rev. Linda A. Faltin. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
