Robert Baldwin
Thomasville - Robert Raymond Baldwin, 56, of Goforth Drive died March 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital following an illness.
He was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Lynchburg, Va., a son of Ernest and Mamie Burns Baldwin. He was formerly employed at Thomasville Furniture Industries, and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean Baldwin, and his second wife, Patricia Baldwin.
Surviving are his mother of Reidsville; three daughters, Sandra Styles of Winston-Salem, Linda Stone of Reidsville and Brenda Wilson of Eden; a son, Robert Baldwin of Roxboro; two stepdaughters, Kelly Porterfield and Tammy Woods, both of Thomasville; four brothers, James Baldwin of High Point, Melvin Burns of Thomasville, Carroll Baldwin of Pelham and Ernest Baldwin of Yanceyville; two sisters, Patricia Bray of Reidsville and Elizabeth Lucas of Pelham; six grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will at the residence, 107 Goforth Drive.
Thomas Boykin Jr.
High Point - Thomas Grady Boykin Jr., 47, of 1205-C N. Main St. died March 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital. He had been in declining health for many years.
He was born Oct. 5, 1952, in Raleigh, a son of Thomas Grady Boykin Sr. and Grace Boykin. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a sales representative with Alan White Furniture Co. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his mother of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Linda B. Johnson and her husband, Michael, of Greensboro and Miss Sherry Boykin of Raleigh; and a niece, Lisa Johnson of Raleigh.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. R. Scott Woodmansee and the Rev. Lisa M. Mullen. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point.

Orie Broyles
Jamestown - Orie Van Broyles, 53, of Hilltop Road died March 12, 2000, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed wood working as his hobby.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy M. Broyles, of the residence; four children, Orie Charles Broyles and Aaron Oscar Broyles, both of Fairfield, Iowa, Saword Ann Broyles Eller of Sophia and April May Broyles of the residence; two stepchildren, Shelly Lane Curry and Devon Christine Curry, both of the residence; his parents, Orie and Daisy Broyles of Cedar Bluff, Va.; three brothers, David Glenn Broyles and Wayne Broyles, both of Cedar Bluff and Danny Rose Broyles, of Maryfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Miranda Eller, Stephanie Eller and Ares Eller.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hanes-Lineberry, Sedgefield Chapel, by the Rev. Tony Thomas. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Meadville, Pa. - Mrs. Brenda D. Cocolin, 47, of 10612 Eastview Ave. died March 12, 2000, at Meadville Medical Center following 41/2years illness.
She was born Nov. 3, 1952, in High Point, N.C., a daughter of Frank and Francis Teer Hundley. On Jan 25, 1973, she married Dave Cocolin. She was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Meadville. She was preceded in death by her father.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Cezanne Cocolin of State College; a son, Ryan Cocolin of Meadville; her mother of High Point; a sister, Marie Hodges of High Point; a brother, Frank Hundley of Greensboro, N.C.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut St., by the Rev. Gregory Steed. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. tonight at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St.

Alva Erwin
High Point - Alva Lawerance Erwin, 89, of 3810 Beverly Hills Drive died March 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Missouri, a son of Loren Erwin and Eva Samples, who preceded him in death . He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. On Jan. 8, 1983, he married Mercedes Humphreys, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah and her husband, Richard Simmerson, Kathy Finlay, and Barbara Simpson; three grandsons, Joshua Kruseman, Nicholas Simmerson and Travis Finlay; three granddaughters, Michelle Finlay, Johanna Simpson and Ann Simpson; and one great-granddaughter, Kylie.

Carl Hinson
High Point - Carl Livingston Hinson, 78 of 705 Belmont Drive died March 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Thomasville, a son of Will Marshall and Minnie Ann Powell Hinson. He was a lifelong resident of High Point and retired from Southern Sales Inc. Prior to his retirement he worked for Piedmont Wholesale Inc. for 35 years and also had been employed by Arthur’s Pharmacy in High Point. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Hughes, 6th Division 545th Platoon. He served in Guam, Okinawa and Japan.
He was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class. On Nov. 24, 1948, he married the former Elsie Mae Tackett, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wanda White of Archdale and Mrs. Connie York of Gainesville, Fla.; two sons, Gene Hinson and Jerry Hinson, both of High Point; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church by the Rev. Bynum D. Orr. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

Larry Hodges
Lexington - Larry Benjamin Hodges, 61, of 1158 Michael Road died March 12, 2000, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
He was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Baton Rouge, La., a son of Lloyd Benjamin and Lorraine Wiggins Hodges. In 1988, he married Betty Barker Hodges. He was active in the ministry and was a U.S. Army and Marines veteran.
Surviving are his wife of the residence; two daughters, Rhonda Hodges Russell of Ponchatoula, La., and Rhonda Donell Hodges of Tyro; two sons, Larry D. Hodges of LaPlace, La., and Coyt E. Hodges of Tyro; two sisters, Brenda Hodges Baumgartner of Thomasville and Penny Hodges Shelton of Hammond, La.; and a brother, Gary W. Hodges of Denham Springs, La.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Life Mission Church, High Point, by J.B. Jennings and Robert Laughlin. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation.

Boyd Kistler
Sophia - The Rev. Boyd Charles Kistler, 80, of 3627 Edgar Road died at 1:19 p.m. March 13, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital, after declining health of several months.
He was born June 16, 1919, in Hickory, a son of Boyd Clarence and Rosa Belle Freeman Kistler. He was a graduate of High Point College and received his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He served as a Wesleyan minister for 60 years. His ministry reached to Australia, Japan and the Carribean Islands. He was a member of Midway Wesleyan Church in Randleman and was elected pastor emeritus. He was a resident of High Point and the vicinity since 1975. On May 27, 1939, he married Bessie Farlow, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a son, Ivan Reece Kistler and his wife, Pilar, of Gastonia; two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Esther) Bennett of Sophia and Mrs. Ron (Mary Lou) Cox of 213 Barney Road; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Green of Waxsaw and Mrs. Katherine Walker of Lincolnton.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Midway Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Arnold J. Luther, the Rev. J.W. Phillips and the Rev. Henry D. Williams. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The body will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wesleyan ministers.

Kathryn Lowe
Trinity - Mrs. Kathryn T. Lowe, 52, of 1317 Koonce Drive died March 12, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Forsyth County, a daughter of John M. and Edith May Hollifield Tise. She was a resident of the Archdale and Trinity vicinities for the past 15 years and was a retired employee from Guil-Rand Veterinary Hospital. On Nov. 29, 1966, she married Erskine L. Lowe Jr., who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tonya Lowe Canham of Archdale; three sons, Kevin Lowe of Asheboro, Erskine Lee Lowe III of Virginia and Jesse Marcus Lowe of Trinity; a sister, Carolyn T. Shelton of Greensboro; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Thomasville - Donald Leon McDaniel Sr., 57, of 5259 E. Holly Grove Road died March 12, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Davidson County, a son of Walter McDaniel Sr. and Gladys Reece McDaniel. He was last employed with Harris Teeter as a truck driver as long as his health permitted. He was a member of Christian Life Freewill Baptist Church. On March 10, 1971, he married Scarlett Peters, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Jerry Wayne McDaniel.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Crystal Dawn Colflesh and her husband, Dave, of Delaware, Mrs. Mary Lou Teal and her husband, Victor, of Asheboro and Mrs. Eva Alice Potts and her husband, Edward, of Trinity; three sons, Donald Leon McDaniel Jr. of Asheboro, James McDaniel and his wife, Sherice, of Germany and James David Butler and his wife, Michelle of Lexington; his mother of Thomasville; three brothers, Bobby McDaniel, Walter McDaniel Jr. and Frank McDaniel, all of Thomasville; and 11 grandchildren.
