Ida Tedder
High Point - Mrs. Ida A Culbreth Tedder, 91, of Wesleyan Arms died March 16, 2000.
She was born Feb. 17, 1909, in Cumberland County, a daughter of Harrison and Anne Hall Culbreth. She was a registered nurse and worked as a private duty nurse in the High Point area. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. On Dec. 23, 1934, she married Jack Lawrence Tedder, who preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1972.
Surviving are a son, Dr. James Dale Tedder of Oakland, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Cara Dwyer of Rosemont, Pa., and Mrs. Christine Atkins of Bromall, Pa.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, by Father William Evans. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service.

Mary Woodley
High Point - Mrs. Mary Lucille Loving Woodley, 88, of Wesleyan Manor died March 16, 2000.
She was born Jan. 29, 1912, in Guilford County, a daughter of William Franklin and Tranquilla Jane Spencer Loving, who preceded her in death. She was the wife of E.J. Woodley Jr, who preceded her in death in 1974. She had been employed by Mirror Products Co.
Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Monjure of Jamestown; a son, Roger Helmstetler of Summerfield; a sister, Lois Williams of High Point; five grandchildren, John Skaggs, Hayley Helmstetler and Dylan Helmstetler, all of Summerfield, Tracy Helmstetler of Greensboro and Laura Cook of Pleasant Garden; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today in Oakwood Municipal Cemetery by the Rev. Bobby Loving. There will be no visitation.
Cumby Funeral Service, High Point, is in charge of arrangements.
Cletus Albright
Thomasville - Cletus W. Albright, 87, of 1635 Light Road died March 17, 2000.
He was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Davidson County, a son of Otis and Ella Clodfelter Albright. He lived in Thomasville for 16 years and had lived in Valdese for 50 years. Prior to retiring in 1977, he worked as a foreman in the carving department of Drexel Furniture. He was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and the Ever Ready Sunday School Class. He was married to Callie Fowell, who preceded him in death in 1973. On Dec. 16, 1984, he married Neva Beck Elberson, who survives of the residence. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Albright and Ray Albright; and sister-in-law, Doris Albright.
Also surviving are two sons, Roy Albright of Drexel, and Kenneth Albright of Morganton; a stepson, Bill Elberson and his wife, Helen, of Thomasville; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Gordon of Denton, Mrs. Edith Beck of Thomasville, Mrs. Thelma Darr and her husband, Grady, of Thomasville, and Mrs. Ruby Leonard and her husband, Fred, of Thomasville; three brothers, Joe Albright and his wife, Hazel, Melvin Albright and his wife, Edith, and Fred Albright and his wife, Montie Bell, all of Thomasville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church by Dr. E. Keith Carroll, the Rev. Carroll M. Upton, the Rev. C.E. Apple, Lt. Chad Elberson and Lt. Rebecca Elberson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at Family Funeral Care until 30 minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Flora Berry
High Point - Miss Flora Elizabeth Berry, 100, of Oakview Nursing Home died March 17, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in Randolph County, Oct. 24, 1899, a daughter of Jessie and Adella Fentress Berry. She was a member of Oakview Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two special friends, Cliff and Helen Brown of High Point.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harold C. Davis Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Steve Smith. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Frank Briles
Thomasville - Frank Briles, 59, of 817 Kennedy Road, died March 16, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 16, 1941, in Randolph County, a son of Flake and Edna Williams Briles. He was self-employed and was a former member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith. On Nov. 25, 1965, he married the former Carol Miller, who survives of the residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jane B. Sherrill and her husband, Kent, of Winston-Salem and Annette B. Wilkerson and her husband, Dan, of Trinity; four sisters, Mrs. Joy Ruth Small and Mrs. Bertie Lemmons of Randleman, Mrs. Mary Lou Kindley of Lexington, and Mrs. Barbara Lewis of South Carolina; and two brothers, Harold Briles and Carl Briles of Trinity.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Family Funeral Care Chapel. Burial will be in Pierce Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Thomas Gray
Thomasville - Thomas Oscar Gray, 89, formerly of 11809 Trinity Road, Trinity, died March 24, 2000, at Piedmont Nursing Center.
He was born March 12, 1911, in Randolph County, a son of Winslow and Annie Hill Gray. He was self-employed in the furniture industry and was a member of First Baptist Church of Archdale, where he was a former deacon. He was married to the former Jessie Frye, who preceded him in death Oct. 7, 1982. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Gray Osborne and four brothers, Howard Gray, Sidney Gray, Robert Gray and Ben Gray.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Edith Osborne of Pleasant Garden; a brother, Walter Gray of Archdale; a special friend, Irene McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale by the Rev. J.C. Alley. Burial will be in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Thomasville - Alonzo Owen Gurganus Sr., 67, of 1819 Woodsway Drive died March 23, 1932, in Community General Hospital.

High Point - Jimmie D. Hayes, 66, of 314-A Brentwood St. died March 23, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for the Triad, where he had been a resident for nine days, and declining health one month.

Rebecca Huntley
Greensboro - Mrs. Rebecca Hayes Huntley, 45, died March 23, 2000, at Wesley Long Hospital.
She was born Aug. 28, 1954, in Amsterdam, N.Y., a daughter of Charles A. and Ina M. Hayes. She was a member of Guilford College United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife of Barry E. Huntley and a devoting loving mother. She was much loved and her life’s work was devoted to her family, especially her two children. She graduated from Western Guilford High School and Pavillon International. She loved life, she will be so missed, but her memory will forever be in our hearts. To her children and loved ones she was their sunshine and the greatest mother, confidant and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. She was beautiful within, caring, courageous, generous, spirited, loving, noble and special. May her spirit be forever loved. Her journey will have no strangers for they will all know her. She always strived for the happiness of others. These are only a few words that describe her.
Surviving are a loving mother and father of Greensboro; a daughter, Melanie A. Wagoner; a son, Charles R.W. Wagoner of Greensboro; two sisters, Deborah M. Holbrook and her husband, Gary, of McLeansville and Kimberly S. Hayes of Greensboro; two brothers, David C. Hayes and his wife, Aleta, of Greensboro and Matthew T. Hayes and his wife, Mary, of Jamestown; her grandparents, Edward and Hazel Lampman of Fonda, N.Y., and Albert Hayes of Johnstown, N.Y.; a mother-in-law, Theresa Huntley of Greensboro; two sisters-in-law, Felicia Huntley and LaWanda Huntley of Greensboro; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Guilford College United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date in the cemetery at the family home adjacent to the Pavillon International in Mill Spring. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel.

Ruby Long
Jacksonville, Fla. - Mrs. Ruby Boland Long, 91, formerly of Columbia, S.C., died March 17, 2000.
She was born Dec. 27, 1908, in Batesburg, S.C., a daughter of Clarence Eugene and Mallie Whitman Boland, who preceded her in death. She attended Summerland College in South Carolina, and was employed as dorm supervisor of female students at Jones College. She worked for Colonial Properties Inc. and Allen Eye Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Vernon Long.
Surviving are a daughter, JoAnn Long Allen and her husband, Dr. Walter Gregory Allen Jr., of Jacksonville; a son William Ray Long and his wife, Rose Mary, of Jamestown, N.C.; four grandchildren, Dr. Vivian Allen and her husband, Robert Harris, of Jacksonville, Ginger Long Dorrell Kerr and her husband, Fred, of Jamestown, William Ray “Rocky” Long Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Jamestown; Kristen Long Schadt and her husband, Stephen, of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Grace Boland Smith of Newberry, S.C.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a godchild, Kippy Smith Kingston and her husband, Dan. of Newberry.
Memorial services were held March 20, at the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Gerry Walston of Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will be 2 p.m. April 1, in Sharon Memorial Cemetery, Charlotte, N.C., by the Rev. John Petry III.
Mary Murrell
Greensboro - Mrs. Mary Thompson Murrell, 76, of 4628 Burlington Road died March 24, 2000, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 30, 1923, in Randolph County, a daughter of Shurford Arthur and Rosa Barnes Thompson, who preceded her in death. She retired from Jefferson Standard Insurance Co. with more than 35 years of service. She was a member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Thompson; a brother, Raeford Thompson; and a grandson, Chad Payne.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, George “G.W.” Murrell of the residence; four children, David Murrell and his wife, Linda, of Belew’s Creek, Richard Murrell and his wife, Marsha, of Charlotte, Linda Murrell of Kallands, Va., and Phillip Murrell and his wife, Sandra, of Summerfield; five sisters, Ann Loflin of High Point, Jamesanna Hollingsworth of High Point, Bernice Cave of Greensboro, Lula Edwards of High Point and Esther Vickers of Mooresville; a brother, Herbert Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Tracey Whitesell of High Point, Lyle G. Lawing of Los Angeles, Laurie Murrell, Amy Murrell and Lindsey Murrell, all of Charlotte, and Joyce E. Murrell of Belew’s Creek.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. Allen Myers and the Rev. Lester Stanley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street and other times at the residence.

Carl Nelson
Kernersville - Carl Watson Nelson, 85, of 1290 Union Cross Road died March 23, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born July 21, 1914, in Stokes County, a son of Arthur Boulden and Zettie Nelson. He lived most of his life in High Point, before moving to Kernersville, in 1996. He retired from High Point-Thomasville and Denton Railroad as an engineer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II, and received numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of Walnut Cove Primitive Baptist Church. He was first married to Mary Wrenn Nelson, who preceded him in death in 1975. He later married the former Iva “Bobbie” Moore, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Alan Barry Nelson and his wife, Jan, of High Point; a stepson, Donald W. Moore and his wife, Linda, of Reidsville; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Reid and her husband, Charles, of Kernersville and Deborah Grogan and her husband, Randy, of Wilson; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by Elder Jess B. Higgins and Elder E.W. Hooven Jr. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Edith Perry
High Point - Mrs. Edith Harrison Raymond Perry, 97, of 1742-A N. Hamilton St. died March 23, 2000, at Evergreens Nursing Center.
She was born June 4, 1902, in Guilford County, a daughter of Arthur Rawley and Ada Myers Harrison. She worked as a bookkeeper at Globe Furniture Co., Ritch Face Veneer and at Piedmont Veneer until retirement in 1986. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pilot Club. She was married to Henry David Perry, who preceded her in death in 1944.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Irma Perry Sohnchen of the residence, High Point, and Margaret Perry Becker of High Point; two sons, William Suppler Perry of Birmingham, Ala., and John Calhoun Perry of Mt. City, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. R. Scott Woodmansee and the Rev. Lisa Mullen. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Visitation will be 6:30-8 tonight at 1742-A North Hamilton St.
