Sarah Taylor
High Point - Mrs. Sarah “Regina” Craven Taylor, 53, of 226 Lewis Jones Road died March 13, 2000, at her residence, after an extended illness.
She was born June 13, 1946, in Guilford County, a daughter of Clarence W. And Stacie Clark Crave, who preceded her in death . On Sept. 18, 1964, she married Lincoln S. Taylor, who survives of the residence. She attended Zion United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her half brother, Delma Brown.
Also surviving are three sons, Chris Taylor and his wife, Angie, and Alex Taylor, all of High Point, and Channon Taylor of the residence; an uncle and his wife, Gilbert and Garnet Clark of Jamestown; and a sister-in-law, Laverne Brown of Jamestown.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, by the Rev. Joe Coltrane and the Rev. David Gibson. Burial will be in Spring Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Beulah Bowen
Spencer - Mrs. Beulah C. Bowen, 96, died March 20, 2000.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Timberlake Chapel Piedmont Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
Dorothy Dowd
Greensboro - Dorothy “Dot” Stone Dowd, 74, of the Masonic & Eastern Home died March 21, 2000, at the home.
She was a native of Wake County. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a member of Bessemer Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Victor Dowd of the home; a daughter, Debbie Dowd of Greensboro; a son David Dowd of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Peggy Stone Riggsbee and Ann Stone Council, both of Morrisville; and three grandchildren, Mary Leigh Dowd, Samuel Stone Dowd and David Allan Dowd, all of Charleston.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel, by the Rev. Robert Hamilton. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Ila Hill
Clemmons - Miss Ila Mae Hill, 91, of Meadowbrook Nursing Home, formerly of Midway School Road, Winston-Salem, died March 20, 2000, at the nursing home.
She was born Feb. 26, 1909, in Davidson County, a daughter of Jacob and Daisy James Hill. She was a lifelong resident of the Midway community. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Midway United Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible Class. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Eller and Mrs. Frances Sink.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Annie Lee Ingram of Thomasville; two nieces, Mrs.. Sandra Workman of Thomasville and Ms. Melodie Frederick of Midway; two nephews, Wendell Eller of Winston-Salem and Jim Green of Gastonia; two great-nieces, Miss Ashley Frederick of Midway and Miss Jan Green of Tennessee; and a great-nephew, Jay Green of Gastonia.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Harry Sellers and the Rev. Hollis Youngblood. The body will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, until the hour of service.

Archdale - Mrs. Patricia C. Liner died Aug. 26, 1999.
Committal service conducted by Chaplain James Lynn, Captain U.S. Army Retired. Burial was in Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery Oct. 5, 1999.

Donald Pugh
Thomasville - Donald Ray Pugh, 64, of Cloniger Drive died March 20, 2000.
He was born July 21, 1935, in Davidson County, a son of Thomas Fredrick and Elsie Stalker Pugh. He lived most of his life in this area. He was employed with Midas Muffler, High Point. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Hasty Baptist Church. He was married to the former Marian Blair, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Michael Pugh and his wife, Lisa, of Thomasville; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Perryman of Thomasville; and three grandchildren, Matthew Pugh, Christopher Pugh and Taylor Pugh.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel by the Rev. Morris Hollifield. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his son, 108 Kincemac Drive.

Dr. Max Rogers
Salisbury - Dr. Max Pritchard Rogers, 82, died March 20, 2000, at the Lutheran Nursing Home, Salisbury.
He was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Burlington, a son of John Jerome and Myrtle Holt Rogers, who preceded him in death. He graduated Alpha Omega Alpha as one of the top six students from Duke University Medical School in 1942. He completed one year of residency in surgery at Duke University Hospital before joining the U.S. Naval Reserve Medical Corps. He was called immediately to active duty and deployed with the U.S. Marine Corps for service in the Pacific theater. With more than two years of service with the Marines, he was stationed on the front lines from Guadalcanal to Okinawa.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he returned to Duke University to complete his residency in surgery. In 1946, he was married to Nancy Curtis Leonard, daughter of Bishop C. Leonard and Ella Miller of Salisbury. He relocated to High Point to begin a medical practice. During the course of his practice in High Point, he was named as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
In 1966, he was appointed to be the chief surgeon for the Southern Railway System. To assume his new responsibilities, he and his family moved to Washington, D.C. After 17 years of dedicated service to the people of the Southern Railway System, he retired in order to pursue other opportunities as chief medical director of National Hospital for Rehabilitation Services, Arlington, Va.
In 1986, he retired completely from his professional responsibilities. He returned to his native North Carolina, taking up residency in New Bern, where he became an active member of his new community. He contributed numerous volunteers hours to the New Bern Historical Society, New Bern Preservation Society, Craven County Arts Council and First Presbyterian Church. He also was elected to serve on the board of directors of the North Carolina Museum of Art.
He enjoyed a relationship spanning 40 years with camps Sea Gull and Seafarer of the Raleigh YMCA He recently authored “Ahoy There!” a compilation of memoirs celebrating the 50th anniversary of the seafaring camps on the Neuse River. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Leonard Rogers Davidson of Bethesda, Md.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years of Salisbury; his son, Holt Leonard Rogers and his wife, Audrey Rogers of Tocca, Ga.; a grandson, John Rogers Davidson and his wife, Elizabeth Grace, of Fountain City, Ind.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Thomas L. Griffis, senior minister and the Rev. Judith L. White, associate minister. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Blondie Allen
High Point - Mrs. Blondie Allen, 78, of 604 Vail Ave. entered eternal rest on March 18, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after hospitalization of 15 days. She had been in declining health for several years.
She was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Rockingham, a daughter of Jerry and Lizzie Ingram Allen, who preceded her in death. She attended school in Rockingham and moved to High Point at an early age, where she sought employment and made her residence. She retired from Hayworth Roll and Panel. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as an usher as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the United Ushers. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lemon LeGrande, Catherine Allen and Helen Way; two brothers, Jerry Allen Jr. and Adam Allen; a granddaughter, Gilda Bishop; and a son-in-law, Johnny Armstrong.
Surviving relative to cherish her memory are a daughter, Lizzie Allen Armstrong; three granddaughters, Frenchie Rainey, Chiquita Bridges and Johnetta Brown; 10 great-grandchildren, Johnny, Tameka, Nakia, Candice, Eugenia, Rickey, Jermaine, Brianaca, Lushuana and Bryan; a brother, James Allen of Rockingham; and two aunts, Fannie Allen of Winston-Salem, and Lizzie Allen of High Point; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Greater New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Nathaniel Lindsay. Burial will be in Carolina Bilical Gardens. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Friday at the church.

Pauline Finan
High Point - Mrs. Pauline Troutman Finan, 89, of the Presbyterian Home died March 21, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Mary 27, 1910, in Stanley County, a daughter of Henry C. and Elizabeth Harwood Troutman. She was a resident of High Point for the past l0 years and had worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C. She was a homemaker and a life-time member of Central United Methodist Church, Albemarle. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2nd Lt. Francis Kennedy Finan.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Corkey and her husband, David, of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Allison F. Corkey of Winston-Salem and Dr. William B. Corkey; and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Paula W. Corkey of Durham.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. March 29, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Grace Grady
Trinity - Mrs. Grace Shackleford Grady, 84, of 309 Meredith Drive died March 22, 2000, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Surry County, a daughter of Housand and Maggie Wall Shackleford. She was an employee of Nu-Trim Inc., retiring in 1985. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Hoover Tysinger of Trinity; a son, Clyde Hoover of Stuart, Va.; three grandchildren, Karen Sloan, Tonya Johnson and her husband, Dwight, and Tracie Tysinger; and six great-grandchildren, Clint Campbell, Jatie Garland, Jake Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Kylie Johnson and Cade Johnson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sechrest Funeral Services Chapel, Archdale. Entombment will be in Floral Garden Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Johnny Love
High Point - Johnny Felice “Fee” Love, 78, of 1014 Elm St. died March 20, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 7, 1922, in West Field, a son of George Lee and Maggie Mae Love, who preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church, Trinity. He was a retired cement finisher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Ewings Love and a son.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. D. Faye McCombs and her husband, Samuel, and Mrs. Donna Canty and her husband, David. a sister, Connie Love Matthews; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary United Methodist Church, Trinity, by the Rev. Angela Pleasants. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Veterans Administration Cemetery, Salisbury.
