Carol O. Urquhart
LEWISTON-WOODVILLE - Carol Olinger Urquhart, 67, a native of San Diego, Calif., died July 22, 2001, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Churchyard by the Rev. Josh McKenzie.
The family will receive friends at their home 201 Main Street, Lewiston-Woodville.
Memorials can be made to the Lewiston-Woodville Rescue Squad, PO Box 340, Lewiston-Woodville, NC 27849.
Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.
Mrs. Urquhart was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Lewiston-Woodville, where she was church organist.
She was also a member of the Board of Directors of Historic Hope Foundation and a member of the Lewiston-Woodville Rescue Squad.
Survivors include her husband, Burges Urquhart III of Lewiston-Woodville; three daughters, Cora U. Early and Whitmel Urquhart, both of Lewiston-Woodville and Pattie Urquhart of Ayden; two sons, Burges Urquhart IV of Lewiston-Woodville and Lewis Thomas Urquhart of Bethel; a brother, Chauncey Green Olinger of New York, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
Robert J. Banks
WINTON - Robert J. Banks, a native of Hertford County, died July 21, 2001, at his residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas Lee Banks and Robert Lee Banks, both of Harrellsville, James Lewis Banks and Ronnie Brown, both of Colerain; three daughters, Frances Moore of Willingboro, N.J., Claudia Creech of Vero Beach, Fla., Vonda Speller of Aulander; one brother, Charlie Banks of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Ruth Speller of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Herbert E. Schuler
GATES - Herbert Elijah Schuler, 80, a native of Milford, Del., died August 12, 2001, at his home.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Billy Presley.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
Schuler was the retired owner and operator of a long distance trucking company and associated with Security Storage.
He was a member of Milford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Braziel Schuler; a daughter, Evelyn S. Carroll and a son, Franklin T. Schuler, both of Gates; a sister, Anna Black of Milford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ernestine K. Edwards
OCONOMOWOC, Wis. - Ernestine K. Edwards, 94, a native of Ahoskie, died August 10, 2001, at Shorehaven Health Center.
She was the widow of Edgar Edwards.
A graveside service was conducted Wednesday at Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Michael Coss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church.

Mrs. Edwards graduated from Ahoskie School and Eastern Carolina Teachers College.
Survivors include a son, E. Everett Edwards Jr. of Hartland, Wis.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Ann B. Forehand
RODUCO - Ann Lee Butler Toppin Forehand, 65, a native of Gates County, died August 13, 2001, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Library, Court Street, Gatesville, NC 27938.
Mrs. Forehand was a retired assistant in the Gates County Library and was a member of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors include a son, Steve Toppin of Roduco; and three grandchildren.
Marjorie M. Madren
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Marjorie Moore Madren, 74, a native of Hertford County, died August 13, 2001, in Riverside Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Jonathan Palmer.
A private burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Madren retired as a school teacher from the Chesapeake Public Schools.
Survivors include daughters, Carol M. Connor of Newport News, Ruth Madren of Windsor and Beth M. Jonas of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; sons, Silas A. Madren of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and James W. Madren Jr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Evelyne M. Graham; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
James L. Riddick
FRANKLIN, Va. - James L. Riddick, 69, died August 11, 2001, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday at St. Matthew Holiness Church, Holland, with Elder James M. Riddick.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Entrusting Hands Funeral Establishment, Boykins, was in charge.
Survivors include four sisters, Iola M. Worthington of Murfreesboro, Helen Hill, Sara Hinton and Sharon Worthington, all of Newport News.
Arlinda L. Jones
MURFREESBORO - Arlinda L. Jones, 95, a native of Hertford County, died August 8, 2001, at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Murfreesboro by the Rev. Robert Richardson III.
Interment will be in the family cemetery, Murfreesboro.
Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
Survivors include children, Johnnie R. Jones and Jarvis J. Jones, both of Murfreesboro, Lola E. Spease of Greensboro and Hattie L. Lawrence of Winton; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Annie Askew
AULANDER - Annie Askew, 93, a native of Bertie County, died August 14, 2001, at Brian Center Nursing Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Matthew Silver.
Burial will be in the Cherry family cemetery.

Mrs. Askew was a member of Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Herbert, Rudolph and Bobby Askew, all of Massachusetts and Samuel L. Askew of Franklin, Va.; four daughters, Alma Traynham, Larnie Smith and Vernell Askew, all of Baltimore, Md. and Catherine Brown of Massachusetts; one brother, Richard Bunch of Ahoskie; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earl R. Sharpe
ROXOBEL - Earl R. Sharpe, 45, a native of Bertie County, died August 12, 2001, in Chapel Hill.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Roxobel, by the Rev. James R. Wiggins.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sharpe was a plumber.
Survivors include three sons, Rick Sharpe of Goldsboro, Eric Sharpe of Roxobel and Gregory Sharpe of Raleigh; and two sisters, Jackie Sharpe and Neicy Sharpe, both of Bronx, N.Y.
