ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Funeral arrangements are incomplete and being handled by Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton, for Collin Daniel, 67, of 1505 Brickell St., Roanoke Rapids, who died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Wiley Rexford "Rex' Barnes
HALIFAX -- Mr. Wiley Rexford "Rex" Barnes, 67, of 41 Bradley Dr., Halifax, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Barnes was born on Jan. 9, 1934, in Wilson County, the son of the late Elvin and Lillian Ferrell Barnes. He was employed with nine years of service as a produce manager at Byrd's Grocery.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rayford and Rupert Barnes.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Woodard Barnes; one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Scott Hall of Roanoke Rapids; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wiley Rexford Barnes Jr. and Melissa, and James Ricky Barnes and Donnie, all of Roanoke Rapids; and four grandchildren, Kyle Barnes, Mary Beth Barnes, Blake Barnes and Drew Barnes.
Hockaday Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19 in the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the funeral home, and other times at the home in Halifax.

Robert Benjamin Lassiter, Sr.
Roanoke Rapids, NC - Robert Benjamin Lassiter, Sr., age 75 of Frank Road Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away March 16, 2013 at his home. Robert was born June 13, 1938 in Northampton County, North Carolina, the son of the late Willie H. Lassiter and Emily Bell Britton Lassiter. He was also preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Edwards Lassiter. Survivors include his two brothers, Donald Lassiter and wife Carol of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Dennis Lassiter and wife Karen of Roanoke Rapids, NC, his daughter, Terry Dawes and husband Danny of Roanoke Rapids, NC, his two sons, Robert Lassiter, Jr. and wife Patricia of Adolphus, KY, and Wayne Lassiter of Seaboard, NC. Five grandchildren, Michael Collier of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Rodney Collier of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Chasity Miller of Bowling Green, KY, Jessica Weikel of Adolphus, KY and Lisa Jones of Scottsville, KY. Eleven great-grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews. A special nephew Ronnie Lassiter and wife Angie of Roanoke Rapids, NC. A memorial gathering of Robert’s family and friends will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC, from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gaston, NC - Mr. George R. Raab, age 88, of Gaston, NC, died March 12, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Mr. Rabb was born January 27, 1925 in Old Bridge, NJ, the son of the late George J. Raab and Helen Snure Rabb. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran and lifelong member and past Commander of American Legion Post 177 in Old Bridge, NJ. He is survived by six children, Robert G. Raab of East Orange, NJ, Craig F. Raab and wife Joanne of Englishtown, NJ, Faye M. Raab Johns and husband Jim of Gaston, NC, Mark J. Raab and wife Gail of Brick, NJ, and Carol E. Raab-Schmidt of Toms River, NJ; a brother, Albert J. Raab and his wife, Esther of Flemington, NJ; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Roanoke Rapids, NC - Bonnie Shaw Storey, age 82, of Coleus Lane, Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on March 21, 2013 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Bonnie was born on April 17, 1930 in Chatham County, North Carolina. The daughter of the late Norman and Annie Shaw. Bonnie was a nurse for many years. Survivors include one sister, Novella Deloatch of Roanoke Rapids, NC, one grandson Hunter Morgan Davis of Wake Forest, NC, and several nieces and nephews; a special nephew Jim Deloatch of Cary, NC, and his children Lauren and Michael Deloatch. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at The Shaw Family Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC, at 2:00 P.M. with the family sharing memories of Bonnie Storey’s life. The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC, Monday, March 25, 2013 from 12:00 until 1:30 P.M. prior to the graveside service and we will then go in a funeral procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.

Jimmie was born on November 10, 1942 in Nash County, North Carolina, the son of the late Edd Coley and Nancy Pearl Radford. Survivors include his two sisters, Sallie Ann Wells of Martinsville, VA, and Nancy Coley Dixon of Roanoke Rapids, NC, his two brothers, Bunnie Coley of Rocky Mount, NC, and Albert Ray Coley and wife Mary Elizabeth of Roanoke Rapids, NC, his nephews, Frank "Sonny" Dixon, III of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Timothy Dixon of Greenville, NC, and Stephen Michael Dixon of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and a special friend Henry Dixon of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Garysburg, NC - Mr. Frank Stephenson Hill, age 87, of Garysburg, NC, died Thursday July 11, 2013 at Wake Med. Frank was born November 7, 1925 in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late Robert Hill and Myra Stephenson Hill. He was also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Gray Hill and a son Robert Mark Hill. He was a World War II veteran and a life-long member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where he taught the adult Sunday School class for the past 38 years. He is survived by his sons Freddie Hill and his wife Viola of Garysburg and Steve Hill of Paragould Ak., his daughters Betty Lou Zusin of Charlotte, Mary Jo Edwards and her husband Mark of Sanford, NC, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Sara Congleton of Virginia Beach Va., and Doris Newsome of Littleton, NC. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Pleasant Grove United Church Jackson, NC, with Rev. Robert Hill officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Roanoke Rapids, NC - Randy Lee Taylor, age 58, of Robin Road, passed away July 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born January 8, 1955 in Halifax County North Carolina, the son of the late Jacob Rudolph Taylor and Nettie Virginia Gilliam. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Randy will be truly missed by so many. He was also the owner operator of Interstate Garage in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Survivors include his loving wife Pam Taylor, his four sons, Andy Taylor and wife Leigh, Kevin Harris, James "Bubba" Harris and fiance' Kristen DeBerry, Terry Lee Harris and Amanda Moncure, seven grandchildren, Ryleigh, Landyn, Kasen, Corey, Jacob, Jackson and Jessalyn, three brothers Butch, Mike and Jerry Taylor all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, one sister Anne Taylor Smithwick and husband Donald and a very special grandpuppy "Tootz" Harris. Hudson and Dora Ruth Belch Hudson. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and a U.S. Marine Veteran. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Stony Creek Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC with Rev. Robert Barmer officiating.
