WELDON -- Charles Hawkins, 63, of 201 Ransome Circle, Weldon, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Love of God Church of Christ of Apostolic Faith, 2175 Thelma Road, Roanoke Rapids, with Bishop Moses Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

SCOTLAND NECK -- Margaret Coates Hale, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002.
Mrs. Hale was born in Florence, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Edwin S. Coates and Geneva Quinn Coates; and a brother, Edwin S. Coates III.
She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Hale Sr. of the home; one daughter, Geny Etheridge and her husband, Ed, of Wilson; one son, Charles H. Hale, Jr. and his wife, Mary Duane, of Morehead City; and four grandchildren, Margaret Quinn Etheridge, James Edward Etheridge Jr., Mary Charles Hale and Charles Hubert Hale III.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., today, Oct. 9, at the Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Ronald Hiester officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Woodland -- Mr. Melvin Lee Hall, 66, of Main Street, Woodland, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Hall was born June 7, 1936, the son of the late L.C. Hall Sr. and Pearl Mae Jones Hall. He was a retired machinist.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Bryant Hall; two daughters, Elizabeth Pulley of Woodland, and Frances Bryant of Elizabeth City; two sons, Robert Earl Bryant of Woodland, and Shelton Ray Bryant of Aulander; a sister, Pauline Hurdle of Aulander; one brother, L.C. Hall Jr. of Conway; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
