COMO - Elton L. Blowe, 44, died March 11, 2002 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Survivors include his parents, Cyrus and Queenie Blowe of Como; brothers and sisters, Cynthia Blowe and Wanda Huntley, both of Greensboro, Quincy Glover of San Antonio, TX, Charmaine Lassiter of Murfeesboro, Charlotte Elevege of Atlanta, GA, and Regina Stephenson of Hyattsville, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.
Burial will follow in Carver’s Park Cemetery.
Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers.
James R. Majette
MURFREESBORO - James Roosevelt Majette, 69, died March 10, 2002 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Survivors include brothers and sisters, Willie Majette of Gatesville, John T. Majette of Aulander, Alton Majette of Washington, D.C., Jessie Majette, Janie Martin and Cynthia Banks, all of Murfreesboro, Hattie Lassiter of Windsor, and Shirley Burke of Landover, MD.
Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. at Nebo Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers.
Annie R. Boone
MURFREESBORO - Annie R. Boone, 61, died March 7, 2002 in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie W. Boone of Como; two daughters, Melissa B. Smith of Murfreesboro, Teresa Boone of Como; her father, Maurice Wells of Como; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A wake will be held on Friday from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services of comfort are entrusted to Hertford County Undertakers.
Mary M. Cherry
WINDSOR - Mary Magdeline Cherry, 89, died March 6, 2002 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, B. Mildred Cherry of New York, Georgia Wiggins of the home; three sons, Robert Cherry of North Carolina, James Cherry of New York and Barnard Cherry of Maryland; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alberta Thompson of North Carolina, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9 at 3 p.m. in Gilliam Funeral Chapel, Windsor.
Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, also in Windsor.
John Thomas Harrell
WINDSOR - John Thomas Harrell, 91, died March 6, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Rosetta Harrell of Windsor; two daughters, Jean Shirley Speight and Carrie Liles of Dover, NJ; one son, Willie Harrell of New Haven, CT; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Refreshing Center C.O.G.I.C., Windsor.
Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor.
Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Malinda W. Lupi
CHARDON, OH. - Malinda Dink Wilder Lupi, 70, a native of Harrellsville died March 11, 2002.
Survivors include her three children, Jimmy Lupi of Chardon, OH, Cindy Prokop of Jefferson, OH, and Linda Ann Lupi of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brother, James Wilder of Houston, TX; sisters, Marion Johnson of Harrellsville and Nancy Evans of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Nadine H. Keeter
MERRY HILL - Nadine Howard Keeter, 83, died March 10, 2002 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Keeter was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
She was survived by her son, Charlie E. Keeter of Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 in Edgewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home.
Thomas M. Newsome
AHOSKIE - Thomas McCoy Newsome died March 11, 2002 at his Hertford County residence.
He was a member of New Ahoskie Baptist Church and the Jerusalem Lodge #96.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ward Newsome of Ahoskie; his mother, Louise Newsome of Ahoskie; one sister, Jacqueline Newsome Allen of Ahoskie; one brother, Lloyd Newsome, Jr. of Hampton, VA; three foster brothers, Sylvester Newsome of Baltimore, MD, Rency Lee Eley of Ahoskie, Joseph Holloman of Ahoskie and two grandchildren, Jeremy Tucker of Ahoskie and Jerica Lynn Tucker of College Park, GA.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. in New Ahoskie Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie.

Helda G. Lassiter
AULANDER - Helda G. Lassiter, 68, died March 11, 2002 in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
A native of Bertie County, she was also a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.
She was survived by one sister, Dolly Robbins of Chesapeake, VA; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. in Garrett Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Ahoskie Cemetery.

Mary C. Davis
AHOSKIE - Mary Cordelia "Delia" Burden Davis, 80, died March 13, 2002 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Early’s Baptist Church, Ahoskie.
Survivors include her son, Charles L. Harmon of Tunis; her daughter, Cleo L. Roussis of Ahoskie; two sisters, Lucille Nichols and Edith Nichols, both of Ahoskie; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15 at Garrett Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, VA.
The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday and will assemble at the Funeral Home again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
