John P. Brooks
EDENTON - John Patrick Brooks, 89, a native of Lexington, S.C., died Jan. 9, 2002, at Chowan Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, Va., by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford, is in charge.
Brooks retired from Multistamp Co. as a shop foreman and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Myra Snider Brooks; a son, Donald G. Brooks of Pleasant Hill; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Marion F. Eason
SUNBURY - Marion Faye Eason, 41, died Jan. 9, 2002, in Sunbury.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Charlie Moore. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She worked for many years as a CAN with Chowan Hospital Home Care. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Sunbury.
Survivors include her parents, Herbert Lee and Gertrude Riddick Walker of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her adoptive mother, Addie Mae Eason of Sunbury; a son, Dominick Eason; two brothers, Willie Eason and Lamont Walker; four sisters, Gloria Riddick, Marilyn Walker, Sonja Bush and Lori Davis; and her maternal grandmother, Martha Riddick.
Nora R. Speller
WINDSOR - Nora R. Speller, died Jan. 7, 2002.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel.
Shirley Eure
GATES - Shirley Eure, 64, died Jan. 10, 2002, at his residence.

Lillian Lassiter
WOODLAND - Lillian Lassiter, 95, a native of Northampton County, died Jan. 6, 2002, at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Rich Square.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Potecasi by the Rev. Shirley Edwards. Burial will be in the Lankford family cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Survivors include three sons, Leon Lassiter of Hyattsville, Md., James Lassiter of St. Albans, N.Y., and William Lassiter of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Lillian Christine Bazemore of Washington and Josephine Brown of Westwood; two brothers, John Futrell of Newports, Va., and Willie Futrell of Austin, Texas; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Josie H. Lee
AHOSKIE - Josie Irene Harmon Lee, 91, a native of Northampton County, died Jan. 10, 2002. She was the widow of Frederic Gray Lee.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert May. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge.
Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and a member of Aulander Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Nellie Nelson and Thelma Nelson, both of Ahoskie; and a brother, Raleigh Harmon of Ahoskie.
Al Moody
AHOSKIE - William Alton "Al" Moody III, 51, a native of Durham, died Jan. 10, 2002, at UNC Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Bob Skeens. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Liver Transport Fund, c/o Pat O'Dell, R.N., Comprehensive Transplant Center, U.N.C. Moody was the owner and operator of Mid-East Acceptance Corp. He was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Aulander and attended Atlantic Christian College.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jackson Moody; a son, William Jackson Moody of Ahoskie; his mother, Virginia Mayo Moody of Bethel; a sister, Sandra King of Asheville; and a brother, John Moody of Bethel.
J.E. Harrison
WINDSOR - J.E. Harrison, 58, a native of Bertie County, died January 1, 2002, in PCMH, Greenville.
A graveside funeral was conducted January 3, 2002, in Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Roger Kiker. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society. Walker Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Bowen Harrison; a daughter, Beverly H. Bass of Edenton; his father and mother, Elton and Myrtle Rich Harrison of Windsor; a sister, Iris H. Fisk of Windsor; and a brother, Ervin Harrison of Windsor.
Margaret K. Stamey
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Margaret K. Stamey, 93, a native of Windsor, died January 6, 2002, in Portsmouth. She was the widow of Henry Stamey.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in River Shore Baptist Church by the Rev. John Robertson and the Rev. Don Sheffield. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Stamey had retired from the City of Chesapeake and was a member of River Shore Baptist Church and its choir and Sweetbriar Garden Club.
Survivors include two brothers, John A. Keeter of Portsmouth and Fred R. Keeter of Edenton; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Virghan Bond Jr.
WINDSOR - Virghan Bond Jr., 59, died Jan. 3, 2002.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Cedar Landing Baptist Church, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.
Joseph Bradshaw Jr.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Joseph Willard Bradshaw Jr., 52, a native of Nansemond County, died Jan. 1, 2002, at his residence.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
Survivors include three brothers, Terry Wayne Bradshaw of Chesapeake, George Keith Bradshaw of Franklin and Robert Mills Bradshaw of Virginia Beach; and a sister, Sandra B. Fowler of Murfreesboro.
