WINDSOR - Connie Layton Ambrose, 53, died Jan. 4, 2002.
A celebration for life was held Sunday at Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton.
Carl H. Parker
MURFREESBORO - Carl H. Parker, 66, a native of Northampton County, died Jan. 3. 2002, at Brian Center, Windsor.
A funeral was conducted Monday at First Baptist Church Murfreesboro by the Rev. Luther Morris. Burial was in the Branch family cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, was in charge.
Survivors include two sisters, Bernice Howard and Clarice Hawkins, both of Murfreesboro; and two grandchildren.
Willie S. Holley
COLERAIN - Willie S. Holley, 84, a native of Bertie County, died Jan. 1, 2002, at Hallmark Center Nursing Home, Windsor.
A funeral was conducted Sunday at Wynn's Grove Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Thomas Lee. Burial was in Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge.
Holley was a retired farmer and a member of Wynn's Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a host of grandchildren.
Marvin A. Robertson Sr.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Marvin A. Robertson Sr., 62, a native of Margarettsville, died Jan. 3, 2002, in Maryview Medical Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Earls. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Robertson was a member of Galilee Baptist Church, Branchville.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie V. Robertson of Portsmouth; a son, Marvin A. Robertson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Emma Robertson of Portsmouth; two sisters, Mary Joyner and Irene Bowman, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four brothers, Deacon Willie L. Robertson, Elijah Robertson Jr., Ed Lewis Robertson and Larry Robertson, all of Portsmouth; and a grandchild.
Early Cofield
MERRY HILL - Early Cofield, a native of Bertie County, died Jan. 5, 2002, at RCH, Ahoskie.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Minnie H. Marsh
AHOSKIE - Minnie Hall Marsh, a native of Hertford County, died Jan. 6, 2002, at her residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerryl Moody. Burial will be at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Mrs. Marsh was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ahoskie.
Survivors include a son, Martie T. Marsh of Ahoskie; one brother, Glaston Hall of Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Clarice Skeeter of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.
Ruth G. Harrell
NORFOLK, Va. - Ruby Grantham Harrell, 84, died December 21, 2001. She was the widow of Jesse White Harrell.
A memorial service was Sunday at Faith Wesleyan Church by the Rev. W. Emmett M. Diggs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
Mrs. Harrell was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church, Norfolk. She worked and retired from Norfolk City Schools.
Survivors include a son, Joe Harrell of San Jose, Calif.; Burnese Grantham of Windsor; and a grandson.
Bob G. Johnson
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Bob G. Johnson, 68, a native of Winston-Salem, died December 20, 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Monday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church by the Rev. Paschal Kneip, O.S.B. Burial was in Rosewood Memorial Park. Holloman-Brown Funeral Home was in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
Johnson was the owner of Safety Management Inc. and a Marine Corps aviator.
Survivors include his wife, June Johnson; three sons, Philip Johnson of Martinsville, Robert Johnson of Corapeake and Christopher Baxter of Johnson of Chesapeake; two sisters, JoAnne Siebert and Rebecca Sadler; a brother, Gary Johnson; and a grandson.
Laura G. Morris
TARBORO - Laura Griffin Morris, 79, died December 20, 2001.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by Pastor Theiman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Edgecombe County, 2213 St. Andrews St., Tarboro.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynda M. Brown of Tarboro; a brother, Tillman Lee Griffin of Colerain; and three grandchildren.
Euleigh L. Congleton
KELFORD - Euleigh L. Congleton, 86, died December 23, 2001, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. She was the widow of Robert M. Congleton.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Kelford Baptist Church by the Rev. H.C. Boschen. Burial will be in Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery. Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, was in charge.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hathaway of Kelford; a son, Sheldon Congleton of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Celia Congleton of Aulander and Tiny Cofield of Woodland; and three grandchildren.
