Lois Harrell
NORFOLK, Va. - Lois Harrell, 91, a native of Winton, died Dec. 16, 2001.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Metropolitan AME Zion Church by the Rev. A.A. Parsons. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.
She was a member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church for 60 years.
Survivors include eight daughters, Alice Williams of Portsmouth, Helen Evangeline Davis of Maryland, Carrie Hamilton, Elizabeth Perry, Shirley Spellman, Cassandra Harrell and Cynthia Lee, all of Norfolk and Harriett Falls of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Linwood Bowser of Chesapeake; a sister, Helen Harrell of Cofield; 42 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Foy D. Pierce
COLERAIN - Foy Mason Davis Pierce, 67, a native of Bertie County, died Dec. 18, 2001, in PMH, Greenville.
A funeral was conducted Friday at Colerain Baptist Church by the Rev. Arthur Kirk. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge. Memorial gifts may be made to the Colerain Rescue Squad, PO Box 397, Colerain, NC 27924.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of Colerain Baptist Church and the Colerain Women's Civic League. She was retired from Copeland's Drug Store in Ahoskie.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Pierce; sons, Steve Lee Pierce of Gonzales, La., Ronald Wood Pierce of Fort Riley, KS and Robert Vann Pierce of Ahoskie; sisters, Rosa Lee Gentry of Edenton, Della Paphites of Virginia Beach, Va., Annie Brickhouse of Chesapeake and Cullen Davis of Windsor; and six grandchildren.
Sarah B. Dildy
GATESVILLE - Sarah Elizabeth Blanchard Dildy, 74, a native of Gatesville, died Dec. 19, 2001, in Albemarle Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. in Lebanon Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. L. Harrell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gates County Community Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Dildy was a retired homemaker and a member of Lebanon Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie Dildy Sr.; a daughter, Dorothy D. Harris; a son, Charlie G. Dildy Jr.; a sister, Lucille Washington of New Haven, Conn.; two brothers, Hardy Blanchard of Bronx, N.Y. and Wardell Blanchard of Waterbury, Conn.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Clarence Parker
MURFREESBORO - Clarence Parker, 77, a native of Hertford County, died Dec. 20, 2001, at PCMH, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Haven Baptist Church. Burial will be in Carver's Park Cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Katie V. Parker; children, Emma P. Peoples of Murfreesboro and the Rev. James Vaughan of Durham; sisters, Myrtle P. Beale of Murfreesboro and Gladys Branch of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Sarah Davis
AHOSKIE - Sarah Davis, died Dec. 21, 2001, at NGH.

Marie D. Burgess
CONWAY - Marie DesJardin Burgess, 84, originally from Michigan and restored from the National Institute of Health and was a resident of Conway, died Dec. 19, 2001, in Columbia, Md.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Conway Cemetery by the Rev. David Ross. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, is in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Burgess; four children, Phillip Burgess, David Burgess, Joseph Burgess and Dorothy Hicks, all of Maryland; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
James Freeman
WOODLAND - James Freeman, a native of Bertie County, died Dec. 19, 2001, at his residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church Potecasi by the Rev. Randolph Freeman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Freeman; six sons, James Freeman Jr. of Raleigh, Randolph Freeman of Ahoskie, Stanley Freeman and Curtis Freeman, both of Woodland, Johnny Freeman of Top Sail Beach and Ricky Freeman of Suitland, Md.; a daughter, Barbara Daniels of Clinton, Md.; three brothers, Willie Lee Freeman of Baltimore, Mark Freeman and Alexis Freeman, both of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Dethenia Cooper of Southeast Washington and Josephine Freeman of California; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
William Savage
COLERAIN - William Savage, a native of Hertford County, died Dec. 21, 2001, at RCH, Ahoskie.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Harrellsville. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Survivors include four sons, William L. Savage of Colerain, Willie Savage of Aulander, Charlie Ray Savage of Ahoskie and James Savage of Colerain; daughters, Frances Savage, Helen Savage, Lorraine Savage, Annette Savage, Etheleen White and Freda Gaston, all of Colerain, Peggy A. Dempsey of Middletown, Conn.; one brother, Charlie Savage of Colerain; one sister, Pattie Williams of Harrellsville; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
T.L. Bundy
CORAPEAKE - Thurman Lee Bundy Jr., 58, a native of Gates County, died December 18, 2001, in his home.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Parker’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Terry Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge.
Bundy was retired from the maintenance department of Newport News Shipyard.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Gibbs Bundy; a daughter, Shelly Bundy of Hertford; and five grandchildren.
Glenn Woolard
EURE - Thomas Glenn Woolard, 68, a native of Washington, died December 18, 2001, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Christian Church by Daniel Davenport. The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Gates County Rescue Squad.
Woolard was a retired electrician from Service Electric’s, he had served in the U.S. Army and attended Trinity Christian Church, Winton.
Survivors include his wife, Gaye Morgan Woolard; daughters, Jeanna Rose of Gatesville and Molly Woolard of Toledo, Ohio; sons, John Giles of Wilmington, Doug Woolard of Beaufort and Shane Haga of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; sisters, Mary Lyon and Louise Harlow, both of Norfolk; a brother, Don Woolard of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
