Dr. C. Salvadore Cherry
GARYSBURY - Dr. Cater Salvadore Cherry, a native of Woodland, died December 8, 2001.
Coleman Funeral Home, Garysburg, is in charge.
Cherry served in the United States Navy before attending Hampton University in Hampton, Va., (Batchelor of Sciences 1960 and Masters of Arts 1965).
He received his Doctorate degree from Nova University in 1981.
Dr. Cherry served as a teacher, principal and Associate Superintendent for the Northampton County Public School System.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Yvonne Vaughan Cherry; five sons, DeCater LeSalvadore and Melchizedek Obadiah, both of Garysburg, Vladimir Llewellyn of Dallas, Texas, Demarqus Quodon of Richmond, Va. and Gamaliel Rhodanthee of Elizabeth City; one daughter, Alicianiah Lennette of the home; two sisters, Doris Cherry Brown and Sarlutha Anderson-Davis of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; three brothers, Whit Hardy of Poughkeepsie, Alvin Bernard and Hollis Everett, of Rich Square; and five grandchildren.
Londale Belfield
EMPORIA, Va. - Londale Belfield, 30, a native of Paterson, N.J., died Dec. 8, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Rich Square, by the Rev. Dalton Bush.
Burial will be in the Wilder-Cherry family cemetery, Aulander.
Wilder’s Funeral Home, Aulander, is in charge.
Belfield was a machine operator with Fisk Alloy Wire.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Belfield; a daughter, Ariel Lampley of Paterson; a stepson, Michael Baker; a stepdaughter, Kamila Green, both of Paterson; two brothers, Herbert Belfield Jr. of Paterson and Dondale Belfield of Newark; and three sisters, Diane Casper of Roxobel, Mary Gatling and Cynthia Wong-song, both of Paterson.
Willie Lee
WINDSOR - Willie Lee, a native of Bertie County, died Dec. 11, 2001, at the Hallmark Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Metropolitan Interdenominational Church of God by the Bishop Anthony Cherry.
Burial will be in Weeping Mary Church Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Barnes of Windsor and Aaron Freeman of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Ida Owens of Windsor and Brenda Lee of New York City, N.Y.; four brothers, James Lee, Winston Lee Jr. and Willie McCoy Lee, all of Lewiston and Melvin Lee of New York City; five sisters, Georgia Smallwood of Aulander, Annie Mae Lee of Lewiston, Beatrice Lee, Rosa L. Lee and Ruth Margaret Lee, all of New York City; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Dora L. Wilson
HOBBSVILLE - Dora Lee Wilson, 81, a native of Gates County, died November 2, 2001, at Down East Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service was conducted Sunday at the Saunders family cemetery by the Rev. Charlie Eason.
Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, was in charge.
Survivors include her children, Willie Saunders of Fayetteville, Betty Wilson of Sunbury and Rosa Spellman of Norfolk, Va.; brothers, Thomas Saunders, William Saunders and Murry Saunders, all of Waterbury; and sisters, Rosa Payton of Hobbsville, Betty Greene and Dorothy Saunders, both of Waterbury; Shirley Robinson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jessie Williams of Norfolk, Va.
Willie L. Holley Sr.
MERRY HILL - Willie Lee Holley Sr., 63, died October 22, 2001.
A funeral was conducted Sunday at Peterson Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Lindley R. Joyner.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors include his mother, Annie M. Holley; and sisters, Hattie and Gail Sutton.
Kareem A. Holley
MERRY HILL - Kareem Ali Holley, 27, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died October 23, 2001, in a Brooklyn hospital.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Oxley Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Vonner Horton.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors include his mother, Ella J. Holley of Brooklyn; and three brothers, Calvin Sykes of Virginia, Terry Sykes of New Jersey, N.J., and Dion Sykes of Brooklyn.
Ruby Miller
WINDSOR - Ruby Phelps Byrum Miller, 86, a native of Bertie County, died November 3, 2001, in Winston Park Rest Home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Askewville Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Harris and the Rev. Frank Stansbury.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of Askewville Baptist Church and was a former choir member.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn B. Bond and Linda B. Smithwick, both of Windsor; a son, Franklin T. "Buddy" Byrum of Windsor; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

AHOSKIE - Inez Ford, died November 3, 2001.

Cora V. Bazemore
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Cora V. Bazemore, a native of Windsor, died November 3, 2001, in her home.
She was the widow of William L. Bazemore.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds.
Burial will be in Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Lewiston.
Viewing will begin at noon Tuesday at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
The family will receive friends following the burial ceremony in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Bazemore was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include a daughter, Georgia Haskins of Portsmouth; a son, Robert E. "Bobby" Bazemore of Portsmouth; two sisters, Ruth Bossard of Columbia, Md., and Lucille Bazemore of Windsor; a brother, G. Thomas Bazemore of Ahoskie; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Bernice S. Lewis
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Bernice Smith Lewis, 75, a native of Suffolk, died November 2, 2001.
She was the widow of Edgar L. Lewis Sr.
A funeral was conducted Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Potter.
Burial was in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte L. Smith of Suffolk and Connie Lewis of Portsmouth; three sons, Edgar L. Lewis, Jr. and Ronald W. Lewis, both of Portsmouth and Kenneth H. Lewis of Chesapeake; three sisters, Virginia S. Colprit of Arlington, Va., Evelyn S. Harrison of Windsor and Shirley S. Carpenter of Warrenton, Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
