Paul L. Snyder
SUFFOLK, Va. - Paul Lee Snyder, 67, a native of Hertford County, died November 2, 2001.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Frank Halsey Jr.
R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home was in charge.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 902 Pennsylvania Ave., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
Snyder was retired from Lipton Tea as building maintenance mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Ward Snyder; a daughter, Debora S. Husted of Akron, Ohio; sons, Ronald L. Snyder of Akron, Paul Wayne Snyder of Greenville; sisters, Elizabeth S. Wirt of Richardson, Texas, Lillian S. Umphlett of Suffolk, Marie S. Peele of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MERRY HILL - John Henry Brown, 90, died October 31, 2001.
A graveside service was conducted Saturday at Capehart’s Baptist Church Cemetery.

AULANDER - Charlie Williford Jr., died November 2, 2001.
A funeral was conducted November 4, 2001 at Conoconary Baptist Church, Aulander.

Willie M. Cherry
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Willie McCoy Cherry, a native of Bertie County, died November 3, 2001, at Maryview Medical Center.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday at New Mount Olivet Baptist Church by the Rev. Milton Blount.
Interment was in Roosevelt Park.
Fisher Funeral Home, Portsmouth, was in charge.
Cherry was an Army veteran and was an employee at Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he retired.
He was a member of New Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Cherry; two daughters, Tracey C. and Janelle C. Cherry; and three sisters, Gladoria Cowell, Rosa Smallwood and Clareather Cherry, all of Portsmouth; a brother, Jimmie Cherry.
Pattie E. Cumbo-Stetson
CONGERS, Ga. - Pattie Edna Cumbo-Stetson, a native of Northampton County, died September 2001.
A memorial service was conducted September 15, 2001 at Branches Chapel Baptist Church, Rich Square, by the Rev. Tony Flood, Sr.
Memorial contributions was made to the cancer fund.
Mrs. Cumbo-Stetson was a flight attendant for 20 years with Continental Airlines.
Survivors include her mother, Blanche Mitchell Haymer of Congers; her father, A. Cumbo of Jackson; and a brother, Jessie Cumbo of New York.
Arnez G. Riddick
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Arnez G. Riddick, 78, a native of Windsor, died November 4, 2001, at her residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Earls.
Burial will be in the Wilder family cemetery, Windsor.
Fisher Funeral Home is in charge.
The family will have a going home celebration at 7 p.m. Friday at 1523 Crystal Lake Drive, Portsmouth.
The body will be conveyed from St. John Baptist Church Saturday at 2 p.m. to Windsor for interment.

Mrs. Riddick was a retired seamstress; a member of St. John Baptist Church; a member of the American Business Women's Association; a community volunteer Southside Civic League and other community affiliations.
She was also a former member of Pineywood Chapel Baptist Church, Windsor.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie C. Riddick Sr.; three daughters, Brenda R. Williams, Arnice L. Monroe and Crystal L. Cumber; four sons, Raymond Williams, Michael Riddick, Charlie Emerson Riddick and Tyrone Riddick; three sisters, Fletcher Mae Hopson, Claytee Moore and Eather L. Jenkins; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mary C. Taylor
BOYKINS, Va. - Mary Elba Council Taylor, 90, a native of Northampton County, died November 5, 2001.
She was the widow of Henry Thomas Taylor Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Boykins Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Speight.
Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main St., Boykins, Va. 23827 or a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Taylor was retired from Aster Nut Co. and a member of Boykins Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Addie Flowers of Drewryville and Harriette Singleton of Mechanicsville; and a son, Rowland L. "Bucky" Taylor of Franklin.
Tessie Flythe
CONWAY - Tessie Flythe, 86, a native of Northampton County, died November 3, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Conway by the Rev. Jonah Walston.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
Survivors include her children, Rufus Flythe of Conway, Bettie Flythe and Ethel Flythe, both of Woodland, Mary Bowser and Anna Fleetwood, both of Potecasi and Margie Worthington of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Hannah Stewart of Milwaukee and Mammie Bradley of Pleasant Hill; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 41 great-great-grandchildren.

WINDSOR - Lula Byrum Evans, 79, a native of Bertie County, died October 27, 2001, at her home. She was the widow of Lester M. Evans.
A graveside funeral was conducted Monday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Doug Vaughan and the Rev. Ralph Clark.
Walker Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Evans was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Evans Byrum of Williamston, Brenda Kay Evans Jackson of Greenville and Merle Evans Benge of Hertford; a son, Milton Gray Evans of Windsor; a sister, Jessie Elizabeth B. Phelps of Windsor; 10 grandchildren; and 15 grandchildren.
