ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by Askew Funeral Services in Roanoke Rapids, for Mrs. Lena Harris Casper, 63, of 115 Clearfield Dr., who died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001.
Maggie "Ms. Doke' Williams
HALIFAX -- Maggie "Ms. Doke" Williams, 95, of P.O. Box 105, Halifax, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
She is survived by two daughters, Addie L. McGee of Halifax, and Lucy M. Daniel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a foster son, Milton Avent of Roanoke Rapids; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, James Neville of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 at New Bethel Baptist Church in Enfield, with the Rev. McClaine officiating.
Interment will follow in the Allen Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Halifax.
Cofield Funeral Home in Weldon is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, in the chapel.

ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Mrs. Kathy J. Wiggs, 48, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28 at Church of God in Enfield, with Michael Parker officiating.

Herbert Maryland Butler
ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Mr. Herbert Maryland Butler, 72, of 83 Leaf Street, Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mr. Butler was born in Pitt County, the son of the late William Butler and Ida Virginia Davenport Butler.
He is survived by a sister, Novella B. Baird of Roanoke Rapids; two brothers, Harvey Lee Butler of Weldon, and Linwood Earl Butler of Rock Hill, S.C.; and a special nephew, Kenny Butler and his wife, Linda, of Roanoke Rapids.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 30 at Community Church of Christ, 158 West at Zoo Road, Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. McCoy Moore officiating.

Thelma Marie Edwards
JACKSON -- Ms. Thelma Marie Edwards, 76, departed this life Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Ms. Edwards is the daughter of the late Ernest and Rosa Lee Parker-Edwards, born on May 14, 1925, in Northampton County.
Her love will be left behind to be cherished by her nieces, Christine Edwards of Conway, and Josephine Gay of Jackson; her nephews, James Edwards of Conway, Roy Edwards of Jamaica, N.Y., Carnell Edwards of California, Fennell Edwards of Murfreesboro, and Alphonso Edwards of Clayton; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29 at Allan Chapel AME Church in Jackson, with the Rev. R.L. Goode officiating.
Burial will follow in the Edwards Cemetery in Jackson.

Elizabeth Dunn Rogerson
ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Elizabeth Dunn Rogerson, 93, of 111 Wicker Court, Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Guardian Care of Roanoke Rapids.
She was born in Hertford County, and was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Chester Wilton Rogerson and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Eilzabeth Ann Loschiavo of Dumfries, Va.; four sons, Chester Dunn Rogerson and Billy Kent Rogerson, both of Roanoke Rapids, G.C. Rogerson of LaPlata, Md., and Zeb Wilton Rogerson of Vienna, Va.; one sister, Sally Wynn Dukes of Ayden; two brothers, Jack Stanford Dunn of Greensboro, and Buck Dean Dunn of Leesburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Garrett Funeral Home in Ahoskie is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Sept. 25, with the Rev. David F. Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., today, Sept. 25 at the funeral home.
Edward Jake Walker
HOPEWELL, Va. -- Mr. Edward Jake Walker, 82, of Hopewell, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at McGuire Veteran Hospital in Richmond, Va.
Mr. Walker was born on April 22, 1918, in Wake Forest.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Philippine Liberation.
He retired from both Allied Chemical and American Tobacco Co.
He was the widower of Peggy Walker.
He is survived by a son, Edward Darryl Walker of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren, Christopher Edward Walker and Melissa Wright.
Gould Chapel, Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 North 6th Ave., Hopewell, Va., is handling the arrangements, where a celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, with the Rev. Jason Barber officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Sept. 25 at the funeral home.
