GARYSBURG -- Mr. Robert Lee Alston, of P.O. Box 151, Garysburg, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
Mr. Alston is survived by his wife, Annie M. Alston of Roanoke Rapids; his children, Jasper Garner (Almatine), Bernard Alston and Barbara Alston, all of Roanoke Rapids, Ronald Alston of Red Bluff, Calf., Douglas Alston of Roanoke Rapids, Gwendolyn Alston-Moody (Timothy) of Hampton, Va., Delores Alston-Turner of Roanoke Rapids, Robert Earl Alston (Tracie) of Goldsboro, Linda Alston of Roanoke Rapids, Glenda Alston-Robinson (Willis) of Garysburg, and Haishan Lockhart (Rashea) of Roanoke Rapids; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mildred Alston-Boone of Garysburg, Isabelle Alston-Taylor (John) of Roanoke Rapids, and Pearline Alston-Thorne of Littleton; his sister-in-law, Joanna Alston of Newberry, S.C.; his aunt, Louvenia Hunt-Bunch of Roanoke Rapids; and his mother-in-law, Mary L. Ranson of Roanoke Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28 at First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. Michael Simmons officiating.
Interment will follow in the Roanoke Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Garysburg.
The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara Alston, 1923 Willow St., Roanoke Rapids.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27 at Cedarwood Cemetery, with a Baptist minister officiating.

Burial will follow in Parks Cemetery in Rich Square.

Frederic Scott Ragan
ARLINGTON, TX -- Frederic Scott Ragan, 37, of 5807 Stage Line Dr., Arlington, TX, died today, Oct. 26, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Ragan was born in Boone and was a member of First Baptist Church in Arlington, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Ussery; his mother, Audria Hinchman and her husband, David Arthur, of St. Augustine, Fla.; his father, Johnny H. Ragan Jr. of Boone; two stepsons, Charles Sewell and Brian Sewell, both of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, John Ragan III of Altamont Springs, Fla.; and one sister, Colleen Ragan of Boone.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Mt. Lawn Memorial Park in Boone.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Underdue (Guster) of Roanoke Rapids, and Helen Brown (Benjamine) of Manassas, Va.; two sons, Michael Jenkins (Clementine) of Rocky Mount, and Tony Jenkins (Leperthia) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 at Smith Chapel Baptist Church in Halifax, with the Rev. Albert E. Clark Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Twilight Baptist Church Cemetery in Weldon.

SCOTLAND NECK -- Claude A. Paramore III, 67, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001.
Mr. Paramore was preceded in death by his mother, Tessie Jones Paramore.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth H. Paramore of the home; one daughter, Jackie and her husband, Gene Bunting, of Oak City; his father, Claude A. Paramore Jr. of Scotland Neck; two sisters, Polly Fisher of Highland Springs, Va., and Kay Thomas of Colonial Heights, Va.; and two grandsons, Daniel Bunting and Alex Bunting of Oak City.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 7 at the Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Billy Poteat officiating.
