BOYKINS, Va. -- Mr. Memphis Blunt, Jr., 67, of Boykins, Va., departed this earthly life Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Louise Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29 at Galilee Baptist Church in Branchville, Va., with the Rev. Willie Diggs officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Funeral arrangements are incomplete and being handled by Coleman Funeral Home in Garysburg, for Inell Clanton Ramsey, 60, of 1935 N. Fulton Ave., Baltimore, Md., and a native of Northampton County, who died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Shirley Flythe Lynch
GASTON -- Mrs. Shirley Flythe Lynch, 60, of Star Route Box 7, Gaston, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mrs. Lynch was born in Northampton County, and was the daughter of the late Virgil P. Flythe and Eva Banty Flythe.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Marie Byrum; and three brothers, Gilbert Lee Flythe, Ray Prune Flythe and Bobby Earl Flythe.
She is survived by her husband, Wylie Louis Lynch of the home; her mother-in-law, Lucy Bertha Poythress of Gaston; her sons, Lacy Ward Byrum Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Robert Byrum and his wife, Retha Harris Byrum, Jerry Lewis Lynch and his wife, Susan, and Willie Lee Lynch and his fiance', Stephanie Ward, all of Roanoke Rapids; her sisters, Rockie Lou Byrum of Roanoke Rapids, and Virginia Stallings of Salt Lake, La.; her granddaughters, Jessica Byrum, Rebecca Byrum and Jennifer Jones, all of Roanoke Rapids; and her grandsons, Steven Lacy Byrum and Kaleb Michael Byrum, both of Roanoke Rapids.
Wrenn Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Nov. 26 in the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Gregory officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence located at Star Route Box 7, Gaston.
Elizabeth "Libby' Jean Wells
ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Elizabeth "Libby" Jean Wells, 41, of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Levelle Wells and was a member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Littleton.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Marie Wells.
She is survived by her mother, Jean Gaither Wells of Roanoke Rapids; two sisters, Debbie W. Morgan and her husband, Ozzie, and Sharon W. O'Neal and her husband, Dennis, all of Roanoke Rapids; her maternal grandfather, George Russell Gaither of Roanoke Rapids; one niece, Leslie Morgan, and three nephews, Michael Morgan, Tommy O'Neal and John O'Neal, all of Roanoke Rapids; and a special cousin, Larry "Buddy" Wells of Spring Hope.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Bear Swamp Baptist Church in Littleton.
The Rev. Charles Wilson and the Rev. Dennis W. Gregory Sr. officiated.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Sharon O'Neal, 176 West Kerr Drive, Roanoke Rapids.

Allyne Faucette Gardner
ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Allyne Faucette Gardner, 87, of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Halifax County, and was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Faucette and Lois Mitchell Faucette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Macon Gardner Sr.
Those left to cherish her memories are a son, Nathaniel "Nat" Macon Gardner, Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Roanoke Rapids; a daughter, Pat Faucette and her husband, Bobby, of York, Pa.; four grandchildren, Crystal Wise and her husband, Chris, of Chester, Va., April Gardner of Suffolk, Va., Robert Faucette of Pennsylvania, and Chris Lassiter and his wife, Shannon, of Roanoke Rapids; and one great-grandchild, Austin Lassiter of Roanoke Rapids.
Wrenn Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, with the Rev. Jim Pearson and the Rev. Arthur Winstead officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Olivia Louise Emery
GASTON -- Mrs. Olivia Louise Emery, 72, of 225 Cherrytree Road, Star Route, Box 135, Gaston, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest.
Mrs. Emery was born in Halifax County, and was the daughter of the late Henry W. Beecher Rook and Julia Batton Rook.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was a former beautician for Susie's for more than 20 years and also worked for Leggett's Department Store for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, Stancil Emery of the home; a daughter, Linda Taylor of Roanoke Rapids; a son, Ray Emery of Raleigh; a sister, Betty Jean Pittman of Gaston; and four grandchildren, Jamie and James Taylor of Roanoke Rapids, and Jessica and Jaclyn Emery of Raleigh.
Wrenn Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the chapel, with the Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Glennelle Clark Washington
Halifax County native
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Glennelle Deloris Clark Washington of Washington, D.C., a Roanoke Rapids native, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at her home from complications of a brain tumor.
Mrs. Washington was born in Roanoke Rapids, on June 20, 1944, the only child of the late Joseph Glenn Clark and Gladys May Johnston Clark.
At an early age, she was baptized and joined Carter's Chapel Baptist Church (now Carter's Chapel Missionary Church).
She graduated valedictorian from J.H. Chaloner High School in Roanoke Rapids in 1962 and pursued studies in biology at the Hampton Institute (now Hampton University).
After graduating from Hampton in 1966, she taught one year at Everetts Elementary School in Roanoke Rapids.
She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1967 and started working for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1968.
During Mrs. Washington's 33-year career at NIH, she made a number of significant scientific discoveries.
In 1969, she married Samuel Washington of Washington, D.C.
The couple had four sons together, which they raised in D.C.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Samuel W. Washington; four sons, Samuel C. Washington, Dr. Stanley Washington,
Sterling A. Washington and Stuart D. Washington; two aunts, Ida C. Williams of Reston, Va., and Helen C. Boykin of Gary, Ind.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, at Salem Baptist Church, 917 N St., NW, Washington, D.C., followed by the funeral service at noon.

Mildred Juanita Johnson Prince
ROANOKE RAPIDS -- Mildred Juanita Johnson Prince, 71, of 801 E. Littleton Rd., Apt. 5, Littleton, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mr. Prince is survived by two daughters, Linda Collins (Marvin) of Baltimore, Md., and Wanda Prince of Roanoke Rapids; and two grandchildren, Twana Handy and Michael Prince.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7 at Huber Memorial Church in Baltimore, Md.
Local funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8 at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church in Weldon.
Interment will follow in the Wayman A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Enfield.
