COFIELD – Dorothy Burton Liverman, 79, of 216 Wiccacon Road, Cofield died Thursday, October 20, 2011 in her home.
Mrs. Liverman was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Jethro Clyde and Annie Mae Lane Burton.
A homemaker, she was a member of Harrellsville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Councill and Ailene Rountree.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 52 years, Rupert Edward Liverman; a daughter, Anita Gail Liverman; a son, Louis Edward Liverman and wife, Stephanie, all of Cofield; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in the Harrellsville Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Hall and the Rev. Billy Presley.
Friends may join the family at the residence.

CONWAY – Alvester Barber Sr., 77, of Uriah Martin Road, Conway, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Revelle Hill Baptist Church, Conway.
Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Lonnie Gray Skinner

MURFREESBORO – Mr. Lonnie Gray Skinner, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
He was a native of Bertie County.
He was the son of the late Ioma Mae and Levy Gray Skinner.
He was deacon and Sunday school teacher of Creech Memorial Baptist Church in Ahoskie.
He showed continuous dedication and service to the Ahoskie Rescue Squad and Fire Department, serving as a volunteer for most of his life.
Mr. Skinner was an area director of the NC Association of Rescue and EMS.
Due to his excellent service he received the Paul Harris Award, the highest award given for dedicated service. This award was presented by the Ahoskie Rotary Club.
Mr. Skinner on three occasions was presented the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism as well.
He was a loving and compassionate family man that will be missed greatly.
In his later years, Mr. Skinner became a fixture in the area nursing homes, visiting and expressing his love for all the residents.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Futrell Skinner of the home; two daughters, Karen S. Cole and her husband, Joe, of Jackson, and Joyce S. Harden and her, husband, Charles of Windsor; two sons, Randy Skinner and his wife, Cindy, of Hertford, and Allen Skinner of Nashville; one step-daughter, Anita P. Jones and her husband, Michael, of Murfreesboro; and one stepson, Robert C. Parker of Murfreesboro.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Michelle Cole, Abbigail Gray Harden, Jessie Harden, Charles Harden and Elizabeth Gray Skinner and one step-grandson Michael Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Creech Memorial Baptist Church in Ahoskie with the interment following at the Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
Officiating will be the Rev. David Duncan, the Rev. Lonnie Armstrong and the Rev. J.N. Baggett.
The family will receive friends at Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square on Friday evening from 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Creech Memorial Baptist Church, 501 Lloyd St. South, Ahoskie, NC 27910 or to the Salvation Army.

MURFREESBORO – Margaret Person Revelle, 85, died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 27, 2011, having been surrounded by the love of family and friends.
She was a native of Louisburg and the daughter of the late Matthew M. Person, Sr. and Mary Burt Harrison Person.
After graduating from East Carolina University, she came to Murfreesboro in 1946 to teach Home Economics in the high school.
She was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church and was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Charles L. Revelle, Jr.
Surviving to cherish her memory are sons, Charles L. Revelle III ("Chuck") and wife, Bonnie, of Murfreesboro, and Henry and wife, Sara, of Winton; daughters, Meg and husband, David Chapin, of Raleigh, and Emily and husband, Van Beck, of Davidson; ten grandchildren, Thomas, Rachel, Emily, Harrison and Leslie Revelle of Murfreesboro, Dylan Taylor of Winton, Sarah and Samuel Chapin of Raleigh, and Patrick and Matthew Beck of Davidson; brother-in-law, John P. Revelle and wife, Barbara, of Murfreesboro; sister in-law, Mary Ann Person of Louisburg; four nephews, Matt and Brad Person, Jay and Dan Revelle; and one niece, Paige R. Polito.
The family will receive friends at the Woodridge Drive home on Saturday, October 29, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and at other times.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Murfreesboro Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Lee Canipe and the Rev. Thomas Caulkins.
A graveside service will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

WINTON – Jimmy Lee Etters, age 68, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
Jimmy was born on July 17, 1943 in Gates County, a son of the late Robert Franklin and Mildred Greene Etters.
He was retired as a crane and forklift operator for EastCo Aluminum in Winton, and was a member of Winton Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Gladys Gardner Etters of Winton; two sons, Bobby Lee Etters of Eure and Robbie Etters of Conway; sisters, Carolyn "Peggy" Pierce of Eure, and Sheila Boone and Ramona Pitts, both of Franklin, VA; a brother, Langston Etters of Eure; and three grandchildren, Gabriel Etters, Kathryn Etters and Ethan Etters.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Hunter Lee Etters.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Winton Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Futrell officiating.
Burial will follow at the homeplace in Gates County.
The family will receive friends at the home of Langston Etters, 12 Little Island Road, Eure, NC, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 27.

POTECASI – Mr. Virgil Shell Bazemore, age 90, of Potecasi, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Bazemore was born June 18, 1920 in Martin County, NC, the son of the late Steven Edward Bazemore and Betty Burkett Bazemore.
He lived most of his younger years in Bertie County.
He started to work at age 17 and worked until he was 78 years old.
He worked for E.B. Lassiter Lumber Company, Resinall, and for the last ten years of working was with his son, Wayne.
He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Vaughan Bazemore;
his sons, Wayne Bazemore and his wife, Carolyn, of Winton and Steven Bazemore and his wife, Donna, of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Brittany Bazemore and Matthew Bazemore; and several special nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Potecasi Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Henderson and the Rev. Bob Deacon officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson from 7-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12 and other times at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Potecasi Baptist Church.

Jefferey was born in Franklin, VA, and was a graduate of Northampton High School-East.
He was employed as a material handler and flaking operator with Resinall Corp.
Left to cherish his memory is his parents, Sharon Dunn Rose and her husband, Tommy, of Severn; sisters, Angel Randall and Jennafer Bryant; and brothers, Jason and Brandon Rose.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Severn Baptist Church, Severn, with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating.
Burial will follow in Severn Cemetery.
