Lucille Brown Johnson
Rosobel, NC - Lucille Brown Johnson, age 96, of Roxobel, NC, died Thursday, October 8, 2009.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 7, 1913 in Hertford County, NC, the daughter of the late Fleetwood Brown and Meta Perry Brown. She was also predeceased by her husband, Jesse Johnson. She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Jesse B. Johnson and Gary Johnson, both of Roxobel, NC; two sisters, Hazel Johnson of Roxobel and Dora Mae Harrell of Portsmouth, VA; and two grandchildren, Paul Johnson and Laura Joyner.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating.
Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson on Saturday from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m.

Miss Calvia Mae Clary
Roanoke Rapids, NC - Miss Calvia Mae Clary, age 88, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, died Oct. 1, 2009 at Rich Square Health Care Center in Rich Square, NC.
Miss Clary was born October 20, 1920 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the daughter of the late Louis Brandford Clary and Sallie Louise Taylor Clary.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Edwin L. Clary and Parrish Mitchell Clary and a sister, Marcella C. Jackson. She worked for many years at J.P. Stevens and Company and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids.
Survivors include her sisters, Doma C. Cooper of Roanoke Rapids, Mary Ann Hinson of Rocky Mount, NC, and Sylvia Davis of Sandston, VA. A very special nephew, Andy Jackson and his wife Brenda of Roanoke Rapids and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Dr. Julian Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

Mr. Carl C. Price
Seaboard, NC - Mr. Carl C. Price, age 79, of Seaboard, NC, passed away September 29, 2009 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.
Mr. Price was born February 9, 1930, the son of the late J.W. and Beatrice Price. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie W. Price. Two daughters, Lena Price and Carla P. Stephenson and her husband Joey. His granddaughter, Carly Stephenson. His sister, Mary Price Barrett. Also many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Robert Hill officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Mildred C. Parker
Pendleton, NC - Mrs. Mildred C. Parker, age 89, of Pendleton, NC, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Severn Baptist Church in Severn, NC, with Rev. Brent Hobbs and Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Severn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 PM, prior to the service.

Mr. Nicholas "Nick" Dane Parker
Murfreesboro, NC - Mr. Nicholas "Nick" Dane Parker, age 55, of Murfreesboro, NC, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Parker was born, May 26, 1954, in Portsmouth, VA, the son of Loyd Alston Parker and the late Lila Brown Parker. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Wayne Parker.
Nick was a master carpenter and worked in the construction business until his health failed him.
Survivors include his father, Loyd A. Parker of Murfreesboro, NC. A brother, Timothy James Parker and his wife Lynn Warren Parker of Franklin, VA.; his sisters, Wanda Parker Vinson and her husband W.C. of Murfreesboro, NC, and Marlene Loraine Parker and her husband Tim Askew of Asheboro, NC. Also five nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Wint Hale officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service at the home.

Mrs. Katherine Kee Kirkland
Pendleton, NC - Mrs. Katherine Kee Kirkland, age 88, died September, 16, 2009 at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, VA.
Mrs. Kirkland was born, August 28, 1921 in Northampton County, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Irvin "Jake" Kirkland, a son, Thurlow Kirkland and a grandson, Ryan Kirkland. She was a member of Galatia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Joseph H. Kirkland and his wife Sarah of Margarettsville, NC. A sister, Ella Jean Overby of Branchville, VA. A daughter-in-law, Sandy Kirkland of Sedley, VA and her granddaughter, Kirby.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Galatia Baptist Church with Rev. David Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Conway Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, Friday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and other times at the home of Mrs. Kirkland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Galatia Baptist Church for Missions or to the Conway-Severn Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Grace Harrison Davis
Seaboard, NC - Mrs. Grace Harrison Davis, age 87, of Seaboard, NC, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Davis was born, March 2, 1922, the daughter of the late Alvah Reid Harrison and Maude Justice Harrison. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Godwin Davis. She was a member of Galatia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Harrison and his wife Judy of Garysburg; Linda Luckert and her husband Glenn of Arlington, TX; William Davis and his wife Wanda of Conway; David Davis and his wife Pam of Seaboard; Ann White and her husband James of Murfreesboro, NC; Shirley Aston of Conway, NC; Jerry Davis of Seaboard, NC; Danny Davis of Murfreesboro, NC; and Terry Davis of Smithfield, VA. Her brothers, Paul Harrison and Alvah "Dink" Harrison, both of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held, Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Davis Family Cemetery with Rev. David Foster officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, Thursday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.

Deborah Swain Joyner
Woodland, NC - Deborah Swain Joyner, 48, of Woodland, died Monday, September 14, 2009.
Survivors include her husband, Linwood Joyner; a son, Danny Taylor of St. Johns; her parents, L.B. Swain of Windsor and Mary Lou Belangia of Harrellsville; and a brother, Tommy Swain of Ahoskie.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, with the Rev. J.N. Worsley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deborah Swain Joyner Memorial Fund, c/o Southern Bank, Woodland, NC 27897.

Herbert William Cook
Conway, NC - Herbert William Cook, 67, of Conway, died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Southampton County, Va., he was a building contractor and carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cornett Cook; children, Lisa Diane Cook Baines of Suffolk, VA, Sam William Cook Jr. and Timmy Earl Cook, both of Ivor, VA, Betty Sue Cook of Garysburg and Joanie Cook Draper of Seaboard; sisters, Martha Ann Ericcson and Mandy Likens, both of Smithfield, VA; brothers, Jimmy Cook of Wakefield, VA and Johnny Cook of Windsor, VA; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Faison’s Assembly of God Church, Conway, with the Rev. R.O. Denton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NCWRC Wildlife Endowment Fund, 1710 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1710 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Jean Hoggard Stacy
Murfreesboro, NC - Jean Hoggard Stacy, age 52, of Murfreesboro, NC, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Stacy was born May 25, 1957. She was a LPN and received her nursing degree at Roanoke-Chowan Community College. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Hoggard.
Survivors include her husband Curtis Harold Stacy, Jr., two daughters, Amber Stacy of Aulander, NC, and Melissa Stacy of Murfreesboro and Wilmington, NC, her mother Lucille Martin Hoggard of Woodland, her sister, Brenda H. Lassiter and her husband Ed of Woodland, and a brother, Buddy Hoggard and his wife Joann of Roanoke Rapids.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, NC, with Rev. Jimmy Jarrell officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, Thursday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and other times at the home of her mother, Lucille Hoggard in Woodland, NC.
