Mrs. Virginia Bolling Froelich Stephenson
Garysburg, NC - Mrs. Virginia Bolling Froelich Stephenson, age 87, of Garysburg, NC, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Hampton Woods Nursing Home in Jackson.
Mrs. Stephenson was born October 5, 1923 in Norfolk, VA, the daughter of the late Louis A. Froelich and Nancy Moore Froelich. He was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Read Stephenson and a sister Nancy G. Garey.
Survivors include her children, William M. "Bill" Stephenson and his wife, Nancy of Garysburg, NC, her daughter Ellen S. Sutherland and her husband, Stephen of Davidson, NC, Newton R. Stephenson and H. Barham Stephenson and his wife Susan L. all of Garysburg, NC. Her grandchildren, Susan Lynn Stephenson, Louis "Froelich" Stephenson, Henry Stephenson, Shannon Williams and Hunter Taylor.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Jackson Cemetery in Jackson, NC.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Mr. Joe Carlton Davis
Conway, NC - Mr. Joe Carlton Davis, age 72, of Conway, NC, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Davis was born October 12, 1938 in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late Joe Sawyer Davis and Minar Woodard Davis.
Survivors include his wife Frances Jones Davis. His daughters, Jennifer Davis Wheeler of Conway and Tammy Davis Snow and her husband Gary of Benson, NC. His sisters, Gwendolyn Martin, Magdalene Edwards and Betty Lucus. His brother, Dean Davis. Five grandchildren, Hunter, Chelsea, Joseph, Kathryn and Abigail.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, with Rev. Billy Cashwell officiating. Burial will be private at the Davis Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Edward Louis Arnette
Seaboard, NC - Mr. Edward Louis Arnette, age 81, of Seaboard, NC, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Hampton Woods Nursing Home in Jackson, NC.
Mr. Arnette was born July 25, 1929 in Robeson County, NC, the son of the late Corbett Arnette and Mary Faircloth Arnette. He was also preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Harris Arnette and his daughter, Rochelle Arnette Cagno. He was a retired supervisor with Carolina Mills.
Survivors include his son, Charles Arnette and his wife, Sonja of Seaboard, NC. His brothers, L.C. Bozeman and his wife Pat and Calvin Bozeman and his wife Elaine. His sister, Lorraine Norris. His sister-in-laws, Odessa Singletary and Ella Harris. Five grandchildren, Sherri Moore and her husband Jay, John Ciliege, Michael Ciliege and his wife Priscilla, Travis Arnette and Cory Arnette. His great-grandchildren, Samantha and Cameron Arnette, Wesley Ciliege, J.J., Jillian and Patricia Moore.
Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home, NC, with Rev. Steve Trussell officiating.
The family will receive friends at any time at the home of Charles and Sonja Arnette in Seaboard, NC.
Flowers are welcomed, however memorial contributions may be made to Seaboard Baptist Church, Seaboard, NC 27876.

Leonora Hall Vaughan
Margarettsville, NC - Leonora Hall Vaughan died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Good Samaritan Center in Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park, Florida, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years and a Pearl Harbor survivor, William Lewis Vaughan.
She was born in Washington, D.C., to the late Harrison Frank and Nellie C. Hall, and graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. She and her husband moved to Miami, Florida from Margarettsville, NC, in 1956, where she was employed at National Airlines in the Maintenance records department. She retired from National Airlines in 1973 moving to Margarettsville, NC, where she resided with her husband for more than 25 years. Moved to Live Oak and Daytona Beach, Florida, for several years returning to Conway, NC, until her husband’s death in 2004, when she once more moved to the Live Oak area and Dowling Park, Florida. During her residence in Florida, she attended the First Presbyterian Church of Live Oak and was a member of the Woman’s Club of Live Oak.
Survivors include one sister, Margaret Hall Lynn of Live Oak, Florida; one brother, Edward Joseph Hall (Ruth) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a niece, Elizabeth Vaughan Futrell (William) of Conway, NC; a nephew, Thomas Jackson Vaughan (Lillie) of Margarettsville, NC; a nephew, John William Vaughan (Shirley) of Margarettsville, NC; a niece, Tammy Vaughan Flythe of Seaboard, NC; a niece, Phyllis Hall Warwick (Douglas) of Marietta, Georgia; and a host of other grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Margarettsville Baptist Church in Margarettsville, NC, with Rev. Jim Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Seaboard Cemetery in Seaboard, NC.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 23, 2010 one hour prior to service at Margarettsville Baptist Church.

Mr. Robert Glen Griffin, Jr.
Roanoke Rapids, NC - Mr. Robert Glen Griffin, Jr., age 83, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
Mr. Griffin was born September 22, 1927 in Clayton, NC, the son of the late Robert Glen Griffin, Sr. and Leatha Jackson Griffin Britt. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Arlene Griffin. He was retired from J.P. Stevens and Company where he worked for many years as a supervisor. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Jones Griffin. His children, Diane Grant and her husband Jonathan, Clifton "Pee Wee" Griffin, Judy Griffin and Frances Spence and her husband Beryl, all of Roanoke Rapids. His grandchildren, Rhonda Jenkins and her husband Cliff, Laura Spence and her fiancé Brock Weiss, Cory Grant and his significant other, Star Odom and Sherry Spence. His great-grandchildren, Allison Jenkins, Michaela Wallace, Zyler Grant, Paige Osborne, and Alexsa Spence.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, December 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, with Rev. Bobby Turner officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Massey Funeral Home from 3:00 until 5:00 PM and in case of inclement weather, the family will receive at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 until 1:00 PM prior to services. The family will receive at other times at the home, 107 Madison Street, Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Rhonda Kay Meeks Peace
Rocky Mount, NC - Mrs. Rhonda Kay Meeks Peace, age 51, of Rocky Mount, NC, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.
Rhonda was born February 16, 1959 in Hertford County, NC. She was predeceased by her father Charles B. Meeks.
Survivors include her husband of thirty one years, Robert E. "Bobby" Peace. Her daughter, Adrienne Peace Pittman and her husband Patrick of Rocky Mount, NC. Her mother, June Frances Harrell Edwards and her husband Junius of Galatia, NC. Two sisters, Carol Meeks Davis and her fiance Chuck Buffaloe of Conway, NC, and Melissa Edwards Barnes and her husband Glen of Galatia. Two grandchildren, Jordan and Draven Pittman. A sister-in-law Ruby Viverette and her husband Jimmy of Rocky Mount, NC.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Tommy Hagan officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery.

Mildred Marie Hock Carroll
Gaston, NC - Mildred Marie Hock Carroll, age 63, of Gaston, NC, died December 7, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
Mildred was born February 5, 1947 in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Churchill Carroll and her father, Lumis V. Hock.
Survivors include her children, Churchill "Chuck" Carroll of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Wanda Carroll Narron of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Her mother Thelma C. Hock of Enfield, NC. Her sister, Sandra Brown and husband, Steve of Gaston, NC. Her grandchildren, Billy Lee Narron, Jeremy Wayne Narron, Matt Blaine Turner, Lawrence Dustin Carroll, Joshua Wayne Turner, Allison Blake Turner, Amber Nicole Carroll, Melissa Renee Carroll, Trevor Dane Carroll and Heather Marie Johnson. Two great-grandsons Mason Shane Turner and Christopher Matthew Richards. Two nieces Casey Harris and Heather Balmer.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC, from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M.

Mary Elizabeth Rawls Bell Bacher
Jackson, NC - Mary Elizabeth Rawls Bell Bacher, age 84, formerly of Jackson, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 in Suffolk, Va.
Mrs. Bacher was born October 12, 1926 in Washington, NC, the daughter of the late John Rawls and Luella Mizzell Rawls. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Bell and her second husband, Roy Bacher. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
Survivors include her children, Charles A. Bell Jr. of Jackson, NC, Linda Y. Ward of Virginia Beach, Va. Syble G. Hall of Houston, Texas, Mary Teresa Holton of Norfolk, VA, Sheila A. Gayle of Suffolk, VA, and Mona Lisa Lorenzan of Norfolk, VA. Her sister, Norma Visaya of Oakland, California. Many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Also many family members from Bear Grass, NC.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery.

Mrs. Virgie Mae Terry
Aulander, NC - Mrs. Virgie Mae Terry, age 70, of Aulander, NC, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Terry was born November 19, 1940 in Northampton County, NC, the daughter of the late James Andrew Dickens and Susie Smiley Strange Dickens.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Redden "Reggie" Cornelius Terry, Jr. Her daughters, Rhonda Matthews and her husband Buck of Millennium, NC, Renee Bowen and her husband Raleigh of Buena Vista, NC, and Crystie Lassiter and her husband, Travis of Millennium, NC. Two sons, Mike Terry and his wife, Kathy of Ahoskie, NC, and Phil and his wife, Tracey of Millennium, NC. Four sisters, Nellie Morris of Millennium, Betty Ouellette of Aulander, Sue Dunlow and her husband, Jackie of Ahoskie and Rose McLaurin of Fayetteville, NC. Fourteen grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan and Amber Matthews, Brent and Brook Bowen, Kailey, Gracie Mae and Landon Lassiter, Kevin and Nick Terry, Josh Edmonds, Jennifer Bishop, Kelsey and Kimberly Terry. Three great-grandchildren, Kayden Terry, Jake and Ben Bishop.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery.

Rhoni King Gregory
Jackson, NC - Rhoni King Gregory, age 46, of Jackson, NC, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Guardian Care in Roanoke Rapids.
Rhoni was born March 23, 1964 in Worcester, Mass. She was predeceased by her father, Ronnie G. King. She was a retired secretary.
Survivors include her daughter, Renee’ E. Gregory. Her mother, Elizabeth W. King. Her brothers, Mark A. King and Adam King. Her sister, Rhonda G. King. Her grandson, Andrew M. Patterson. Her nieces, Gracie D. King, Jessica F. King, Amanda B. King, Emily A. King, and Alexis Pennington. Her nephews, Gage King and Joshua C. King. Her aunt and uncle, Ellen and "Meanie" Jones, her uncle, Larry King and her aunt and uncle Judith and J. R. White. Many cousins and many friends along with her family pets, Leo and Joey.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Jackson Cemetery in Jackson, NC, with Rev. Sue Owens officiating.
