Mr. Atlas Hilton Little
Seaboard, NC - Mr. Atlas Hilton Little, age 83, of Seaboard, NC, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Little was born January 12, 1927 in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late Major Little and Gladys Hill Little. He was also predeceased by a son, Jerry Elliott Little, a brother J.T. Little and a sister, Ruby Davis. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Seaboard United Methodist Church. He served as a Seaboard Town Commissioner for eight years.
Mr. Little worked for many years at Community Drug Store in Seaboard and retired a few years ago from the NC Department of Corrections as a health assistant where he received the Long Leaf Pine Award from the State of North Carolina. He was also well-known for his gardening skills.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Davis Little, his children, James Little and his wife Kathy, Linda Benthall and her husband Eugene, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Joe Little and his wife Lisa of Carrsville, VA, his sisters, Rachel Little and Janie Hux and a brother Carlton Little all of Seaboard, NC. Five grandchildren, Samuel Little and his wife Jennifer, Mindy Little, Jonathan Benthall and his wife Angie, David Benthall and Parker Little. One great-granddaughter, Madelyn Little.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Seaboard Cemetery with Rev. Steve Trussell and Rev. Carol Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and other times at the home.

Mrs. Hazel Martin Ward
Woodland, NC - Mrs. Hazel Martin Ward, age 79, of Woodland, NC, died Friday, March 12, 2010.
Mrs. Ward was born May 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Claude W. Martin and Mabel Vick Martin. She was also predeceased by her husband Juels Ward and her daughter, Pamela Ward Vaughan.
She was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church and a member of the church choir. She retired from Woodland Manufacturing Company after 32 years of service.
Survivors include her sister, Lucille M. Hoggard of Woodland and her brother, E.S. Martin of Murfreesboro, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Pond and Rev. Jimmy Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC, Saturday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and other times at the home of her sister, Lucille M. Hoggard.
Mr. Luther Gray Edwards
Enfield, NC - Mr. Luther Gray Edwards, age 81, of Enfield, NC, died Sunday, March 7, 2010.
Mr. Edwards was born August 19, 1928, the son of the late Wiley Gray Edwards and Martha Williams Edwards.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
He was a US Army veteran and retired as a supervisor at Safelite.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Hale Edwards.
His son, Pete Edwards and his wife Phyllis of Roanoke Rapids. His daughter, Allison Pittman and her husband Ronnie of Rocky Mount, NC. His sister, Onita Smith and her husband Herbert of Enfield. Three grandchildren, Jason Edwards, Billy Pittman and his wife Stephanie and Amber Pittman. One great-grandchild, Dayzee Pittman.
Graveside services will be held, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield with Rev. Alvin Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Enfield, NC, Tuesday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.

Mr. Luther Thomas Liverman
Conway, NC - Mr. Luther Thomas Liverman, age 66 of Conway, NC, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Liverman was born June 29, 1943 in Northampton county, the son of the late Luther Garland Liverman and Pearl Belch Liverman. He as also preceded in death by a brother, Roland J. Liverman and a son, Johnny Liverman. He was retired from R.W. Moore Equipment Company.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Elliott Liverman. His son, Michael Rodney Liverman and his wife Gail of Cofield. Three daughters, Shirley Garris, Tina Liverman and Angela Liverman all of Conway. His sister, Geraldine Harris of Murfreesboro. Six grandchildren, Shannon Marie Liverman, Michael Barnes, Jessie Liverman, Ty Liverman, Melissa Flythe and Kyndal Jenkins.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square with Rev. Joe Lassiter officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, Friday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and other times at the home of Wanda’s mother, Thelma Elliott in Rich Square.
Mrs. Hilda Hale Skinner
Aulander, NC - Mrs. Hilda Hale Skinner, age 76, of Aulander, NC, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Skinner was born June 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Charles Madison Hale and Marie Howard Hale. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Davenport. She was a member of Aulander Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Edward Skinner and his wife Teresa of Roanoke Rapids and Jerry Skinner and his wife Alice of Ahoskie.
Her special companion, Hanzel Davenport. Her sister, Augustine Roundtree of Eure, NC. Her grandchildren, Jeffrey Matthews, Judy Boseman, Jennifer Vaughan, Joann Forbes, and Kristian Skinner. Her great-grandchildren, Austin Vaughan, Cody Vaughan, Briann Forbes, Brooke Forbes, Katie Matthews, Daniel Boseman and Kayla Boseman.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie.

James Thomas "Jaybird" Bracy, Sr.
Aulander, NC - James Thomas "Jaybird" Bracy, Sr., 74, died March 3, 2010, in his home with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Bracy; his children, Cindy Bracy Harris of Manteo, Billy Ray Bracy of Windsor, James Thomas Bracy, Jr. of Ahoskie, Michael Timothy Bracy of Jacksonville, Christopher Scott Bracy of Aulander and Janae Bracy Copeland of Jacksonville; sons-in-law, Reese Craig Harris and Bryant Clark Copeland daughters-in-law, Beverly Stocks Bracy, Kristy Hall Bracy and Kristie Carter Bracy; grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Harris, Landon Thomas Bracy, Jordyn Gray Bracy, Carter Madison Bracy, Kennedy Elisabeth Bracy, Jayda Emmalyn Copeland and Brynn Elizabeth Copeland; step-grandchildren, Maggie Jo Dawson, Casey Leigh Dawson, Amy Len Dawson and Paul Matthew Stocks and a step-great-grandson, Thomas Ray Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Texanna Parker Bracy; his siblings, Lloyd Bracy, Maude Brinkley, Beulah Byrd, Linwood Bracy and Eric "Buck" Bracy and a half-sister, Rosalie Dixon.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 7:00- 9:00 pm. at the Aulander Baptist Church, 109 Harmon Street in Aulander. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 5, 2010, also at the Aulander Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gladys Louise Stephenson Futrell
Rich Square, NC - Mrs. Gladys Louise Stephenson Futrell, age 74, of Rich Square, NC, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Futrell was born May 20, 1935 in Northampton County, NC. She was predeceased by her father, Curtis Stephenson, who past away when Gladys was very young, and her mother, Dorothy Bryant Brutosky. She was a member of Rich Square United Methodist Church and retired from A & H Electrical in Rich Square, NC.
Survivors include her husband of fifty two years, Roger Buxton "Buck" Futrell. Her daughters, Kathy Louise Futrell Stiffler and her husband Greg of Raleigh, NC, Yvonne Marie Futrell Lassiter and her husband Bob and Angela Celesta Futrell Lassiter and her husband Kevin all of Rich Square, NC. Her father, Carroll Bryant of Rich Square, NC. Two brothers, Linwood Bryant of Rich Square, NC, and David Bryant of Wake Forest, NC. Three grandchildren, Joshua Lassiter, Justin Lassiter and Kelsey Lassiter.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Rich Square United Methodist Church in Rich Square, NC, with Rev. Roger Cope officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Peggy Bragg Floyd
Jackson, NC - Mrs. Peggy Bragg Floyd, age 73, of Jackson, and a native of Weldon, NC, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Floyd was born June 15, 1936 in Weldon, NC, the daughter of the late Phil Bragg and Susie Hudson.
Survivors include her husband Wilbur Floyd. Her daughter, Tracy Cone and her husband Robbie of Rocky Mount, NC. Two grandchildren, Haley and Logan Cone.
Graveside services will be private at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Venice Blowe Martin
Conway, NC - Mrs. Venice Blowe Martin, age 74, of Conway, NC, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mrs. Martin was born January 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Grover Blowe and Bertha Jenkins Blowe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, U.E. Martin Jr., her brothers and sisters, Jimmy Blowe, Martha Martin, Donnie Blowe, Sara Lee Blowe, Mable Blowe, Carlton Blowe, Royce Blowe, Woodrow Blowe, Linwood Grover Blowe and Mittie Blowe. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Stewart Martin and his wife Debbie and Chuckie Martin, both of Conway. Three brothers, Henry Blowe, Harvey Blowe and Floyd Blowe. Her sister, Rachel Edwards. Her special friend, John Harris. Five grandchildren, Chris, Tara, Jordan, Gregg and Storie. Four great-grandchildren, C.J., Edward, Tyler and Violet.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Drew officiating. Burial will follow at Milwaukee Cemetery.

Mr. Ralph Daniel Harris, Jr.
Roanoke Rapids, NC - Mr. Ralph Daniel Harris, Jr., of Williams Street, Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Harris was born July 5, 1938 in Roanoke Rapids, NC, the son of the late Ralph Daniel Harris Sr. and Irma Odell Perry Harris. He was also preceded in death by a son, Frankie Dean Harris.
Mr. Harris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as custodian for many years. He was a former member of the Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad and was retired from the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Sue Jean Harris. His children, Roger Harris and his wife Debra, Susan Harris Majors and her husband Tony and Steven Harris and his wife Sarah all of Roanoke Rapids. A very special cousin, Billy Revells and his wife Ethel. Seven grandchildren, Bryan, Danielle, Joshua, Brandon, Allison, Bradley and Talan. One step-grandchild, Jessica. Also two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, with Bishop Franklin Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
