Aulander, NC - Mr. Sidney Morris, age 70, of Aulander, NC, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC.
The Family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home, Monday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM.
Mrs. Lois Mathis
Ahoskie, NC - Mrs. Lois Mathis, age 70, of Ahoskie, NC, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her children, Dallas Howard Jr. of Woodland, Theresa Poindexter of Woodland, NC, and Kenneth Raymond Howard of Ahoskie, NC. Three sisters, two brothers, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, February 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM All God's Children United Methodist Church in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Laura Early officiating.
Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home, Sunday, February 21, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Mrs. Roselie Dixon
Grifton, NC - Mrs. Roselie Dixon, age 99, of Grifton, NC, and formerly of Kelford, NC, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 in Grifton, NC. Mrs. Dixon was a member of Kelford Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Dixon and her sons, Raymond M. Dixon and Lynwood Dixon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Kelford Baptist Church in Kelford, with Rev. Doug Spivey officiating.
Burial will follow at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery.
Mrs. Irma Lassiter Hurdle
Aulander, NC - Mrs. Irma Lassiter Hurdle, age 90, of Aulander, NC, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Hurdle was predeceased by her husband John Willis Hurdle and a member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her children, Ann Wiggins, Janice Dunlow, Hubert Hurdle and Robert Hurdle. Her brother, James Lassiter. Seven grandchildren, Willis, Ronnie, Dennis Anita and Bobby Dunlow, Scott Hurdle and Teresa Turner. Four great-grandchildren, Dales Turner, Dawson Dunlow, Landon Dunlow and Grant Dunlow.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham and Rev. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
Mrs. Neta Hargrove Futrell
Wendell, NC - Mrs. Neta Hargrove Futrell, age 90, of Wendell, NC, and formerly of Jackson, NC, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.
Mrs. Futrell was born May 19, 1919 in Northampton County, NC, the daughter of the late William Richard Hargrove and Nellie Mae White Hargrove. She was also predeceased by her husband Walter F. Futrell Sr. She owned and operated We Care Day Care Center in Raleigh for many years and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Walter F. Futrell Jr. and his wife Brenda of Rich Square, NC, and Charles Futrell and his wife Barbara of Wendell, NC. Three grandsons, Lewis Futrell (Cheryl) of Greensboro, Brian Futrell (Jean) of Raleigh and Richard Futrell (Colleen) of Knightdale. Five great-grandchildren, Katie, AJ, Thomas, David and Divinity Futrell. Also her brother, Willard Hargrove of Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson with Rev. Jack Glasgow. Burial will follow at the Futrell Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home, Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to services.
Iola Parrish Sanderford
Rocky Mount, NC - Iola Parrish Sanderford, age 62, of Rocky Mount, NC, and a native of Weldon, NC, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.
Iola was born April 2, 1947 in Weldon, NC, the daughter of the late Ralph Battle Parrish and Virginia Louise Daniel Parrish. She attended Gold City Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheri Lynn Vowell and her husband Arnold and her son, Cleven Thomas Sutphin, all of Roanoke Rapids. Her sister, Helen Parrish Wages and her husband Ray of Rocky Mount, NC. Two grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Vowell and Melissa Ann Vowell. Two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Cheyanne Balmer and Caleb Allen Balmer. Four nieces, Deborah Balmer, Bonnie Kruk, Linda Dickens and Denise Jennings. One nephew, Mike Tudor.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, January 29, 2010 at 7:00 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids
Mr. Julian William Rives
Enfield, NC - Mr. Julian William Rives, age 88, of Enfield, NC, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at his home, 309 McGuigan Street, Enfield, NC.
Mr. Rives was born August 14, 1921 in Halifax County, NC, the son of the late John B. Rives and Mary Keel Rives. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Rives. He was a retired Insurance Salesman. Mr. Rives was a World War II Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Julia R. Hoverman of Jacksonville, NC. Two sons, Tim D. Rives of Southmont, NC, and John B. Rives of Durham, NC, one sister, Vivia Creech of Smithfield, NC. Five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 22, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Massey Funeral Homes in Enfield, NC.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC, with Rev. Ron Williams and Rev. Sam Williams officiating.
Lynwood William Jordan
Enfield, NC - Lynwood William Jordan, age 86, died Monday, January 18, 2010 in Garden City, SC. Mr. Jordan lived the first 85 years of his life in Enfield, NC, and spent the last eighteen months with his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Bobbie Strickland in South Carolina.
Mr. Jordan was predeceased by his parents, Ruben Albert and Mamie E. White Jordan, his wife of forty one years, Shirley Strickland Jordan and a sister, Julia Jordan Stallings.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn J. Strickland and Julia Mears. His son, Lonnie Carlton Jordan. Seven grandchildren. three great-grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews. Also three special friends, Elsie Moore, Donna Moore and Merrie Peyton Darnell.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield with Rev. Marc Sanders officiating.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home, 115 South Dennis Street, Enfield, NC, Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Graveside services will be held, Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Aulander Cemetery in Aulander, NC.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC, Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to services.
