SPRING LAKE - Funeral services for Fernado Luis Alvarez, 30, who died Friday (7/25/03), were conducted Monday at Capilla Cristo Redentor Assemblies of God by the Rev. Francisco Soltren and the Rev. Jose Miranda. Burial will be in Utuado Cementaries Muncipial, Utuado, Puerto Rico.
Maribel Bernal and Priscilla Soltren both sang solos.
Pallbearers were Henry Miranda, Eduardo Ramos, Armando Diaz, Tjhomas Soltren, Willie Suarez, and Enrique Miranda.
Arrangements were by Elizabeth Street Mortuary.

SANFORD - Charles McLean of 5104 Briarwood Drive died in South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Knotts Funeral Home.
He is survived by one daughter, Bonetta McLean Johnson of Sanford; one stepdaughter, Angela Swann of South Carolina; three brothers, Neil McLean Jr. and wife Mary of Pineview, Robert McLean and wife Helen of Johnsonville, Johnny McLean and wife Betty of Sanford; four sisters, Dandi McLean of Sanford, Elouis Swann and husband Abel of Swann Station, Annie Doris McGilberry and husband Jessie of Olivia, and Annie Ruth Pulley and husband Robert of Sanford; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

NELL KELLY
SANFORD - Nell Wicker Kelly died Wednesday (7/30/03). She was the daughter of the late Sion E. and Sally Jane Stone Wicker. She was in preceded in death by her late husband Sion H. Kelly, a former Clerk of Court of Lee County. She was a librarian for Lee County Public Schools.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Kelly Spivey and her husband Aubrey of Broadway; one son, James Conrad Kelly and wife Linda of Sanford; one sister, Marie Chaffin of Sanford; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Rogers Memorial Chapel by Rev. Ray Brooks. The burial will follow at Broadway Town Cemetery.

SANFORD - Funeral services were held Tuesday for George Rhubin Prince Sr., 87, at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.
Old Testament scripture was read by the Rev. Derrell Blue and New Testament scripture was read by the Rev. Eudora Womack. Rev. M.N. Douglas conducted the prayer. The eulogy was delievered by the Rev. C.L. McDougald.
The organist was Kelley Evans. Nicole Campbell was the drummer. The church choir performed.
Floral bearers were Savannah Jackson, Sirander Allen, Pat McDougald, Lois Cotten, Linda McLean and Mary Womack.
Pallbearers were Charles Swann Jr., Reginald Cox, Larice Wright, James Prince, Joe Womack, Bernard Sumpter and Jonathan White.

ALBEMARLE - John Edward Underwood, 79, of 1326 Valleydale Road, Charlotte, father of Dr. Steven F. Underwood and wife Melanie of Sanford, died Wednesday (7/30/03) at the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Burial will follow in Stony Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.

SOUTHERN PINES - Memorial service for Anne Pelton Wagner, 90, of Penick Village, Southern Pines, was held on Thursday (7/31/03) at 1 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church by Dr. R. Carl Frazier Jr.
Organist was James D. Kimbell. The congregation sang.

A.E. UNDERWOOD
CARTHAGE - Dr. A.E. "Buck" Underwood, 83, of Carthage, died Monday (10/20/03) at home.
A son of the late Dr. F. H. Underwood and Ida Davis Underwood, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then received his dental degree from the University of Maryland in 1951.
Underwood practiced dentistry in Carthage, with his father, until his retirement in 1995. His passions included golf, fishing, the N.Y. Yankees and UNC-Chapel Hill sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne Stone Underwood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Herndon. Burial will follow in Cross Hill cemetery.
He is survived by daughters, Rose Mary Paschal and husband Steve of Charlotte, Paula Cagle and husband Roger of Carthage and Bonnie Strother and husband Mickey of Fayetteville; sons, A.E. Underwood and wife Jayne of Winston-Salem, Charles S. Underwood and wife Jo of Carthage and Fess H. Underwood and wife Gelynda of Carthage; a sister, Rose U. Frye of Southern Pines; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.
WILLIAM JOHNSTON
SANFORD - William Russell Johnston Jr., 48, of 100 Mercury Lane, died Sunday (10/19/03) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he was preceded in death by his father, William Russell Johnston. He was employed by Moen.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Buffalo Cemetery by the Rev. Les Goodwin.
He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Johnston DiGeorgio and husband John of Cameron; a brother, Robert Johnston and wife Kathy of Sanford; sisters, Barbara Ann Lehrner and husband Terry of Florida and Arlene Smith and husband Terry of Florida; a stepsister, Joann Lutz of Texas and a stepbrother, John DiGeorgio of Pennsylvania.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
DARRELL JUDSON
FAYETTEVILLE - Major Darrell Clark Judson, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 85, died Sunday (10/19/03).
He served in World War II as an Air Force pilot and received several decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Spring Lake, Ft. Bragg Masonic Lodge 667, Spring Lake Eastern Star Chapter 333. He was active in the Spring Lake Rainbows and served as an insurance agent after his military retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Eleanor Smith Judson; parents, William Pell Judson and Nellie Pike Judson; and a brother, Gordon Judson and William Judson.
A chapel service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel in Spring Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ruiz Judson, at home; sons, Lyle Clark Judson and James Gregg Judson, both of West Jefferson; a brother, Wendell Judson of Levering, Mich., stepsons, Xavier Ruiz of Tampa, Fla., Ricky Ruiz of Greensboro and Rodney Ruiz of Fayetteville; a stepdaughter, Leann Ruiz Isaacson of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and a stepgreat-grandchild.

MAMERS - Donald Gene "Bull" McCauley Sr., 38, of Mamers, died Sunday (10/19/03) at home.
He was preceded in death by his father, George T. McCauley.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Chapel in Lillington. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Broadway.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel McCauley of Mamers; sons, Donald Gene McCauley Jr. and Daniel Jacob McCauley, both at home; daughters, Elana Grace Smith and Matia Cheyanne McCauley, both of Sanford; mother, Faye Riggan of Angier; and sisters, Wanda Martinez of Coats and Mary Calderon of Angier.

SANFORD - Carrie Bell Chubbs, 96, of 516 Hughes St., died Saturday (10/19/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was a member of Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Broadway and served in the missionary department, deaconess and senior choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Illa McIver and husband, William Chubbs.
A traditional service will be held at noon Wednesday at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. Chalmers L. McDougald. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Harry McIver and wife Annie Ruth of Sanford, John Robert Chubbs of Broadway and William Chubbs Jr. and wife Nursceil of Suisun City, Calif.; daughters, Sadie Blue of Broadway and Illa Paschal and husband James of Baltimore, Md.; 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
