SPRING LAKE - Virginia Tyson Gray, 69, of 1126 Riverside Circle, died Sunday (1/4/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Born in Wadesboro, she was a daughter of the late Burgess M. and Dorothy Tice Tyson.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Wroten and the Rev. Jonathon Newton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are daughters, Debra Phillips of Cameron and Cynthia Campbell of Sanford; a brother, Bradley Tyson of Dahlonega, Ga.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FRONTIS WILSON
CREEDMOOR - Frontis Lee Wilson, 82, of 512 Lake Road, died Monday (1/5/04) at Granville Medical Center, Oxford.
A native of Lee County, he was a son of the late Felix C. and Faye Terry Wilson. He was a member of Creedmoor United Methodist Church and was a Marine veteran of World War II. He retired from the Granville County school system. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Esther Kelly Wilson.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Creedmoor United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ron Patton and Dr. Everett France. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are daughters, Betty Wilson Crews of Atlanta and Wanda Lee Wilson Powers of Richmond, Va.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Creedmoor United Methodist Church.

JANET FRALEY
SANFORD - Funeral for Janet McNeill Fraley, 56, of 306 Holt Road, who died Saturday (1/3/04), was held Tuesday at Grace Chapel Church by Dr. Rudy Holland and the Rev. Doug Houston. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pianist was Tammy Strickland. Soloists were Tom Hamilton and Allen Lett.
Pallbearers were Mike Perry, David Medlin, Derek Cameron, Ryan Cameron, Mike Jones and Robert Watson.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

SANFORD - George Robert Fox, 55, of 4100 Jefferson Davis Highway, died Monday (1/5/04) at Rex Hospital, Raleigh.

SANFORD - Jennie Mae Spears, 78, of Sanford, died Monday (1/5/04) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Headen, 713 Minter School Road.

TONI WEINSTEIN
SANFORD - Toni Jo Weinstein, 61, of Sanford, died on Jan. 1, 2004, at her home of natural causes.
Toni was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, daughter of the late Col. Eugene Clark LaVier and Billie Joan LaVier.
Toni attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland and graduated from the renowned Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester in New York in 1965 with a degree in arts. She was also a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity. Toni was an accomplished violist and loved music throughout her life.
She was a music teacher for over 20 years in the school systems of Norfolk, Va., Chapel Hill and in Sanford, and taught private lessons. She helped conduct and played in the Sanford Youth Orchestra and was a member of La Eleganz, a professional string quartet that played various weddings and parties. She was a member of the Fayetteville and Lee County orchestras. She also performed many plays with the Temple Theatre.
Toni loved her family dearly; she also enjoyed reading, going to the beach, playing cards, playing with her two grandchildren, her students and also writing short stories.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mindy Joanne Weinstein and fiancé Christopher Phillips, and Robin Weinstein Soderena and her husband Jon Paul Soderena, both of Wilmington; sisters, Cherie Reed Armknecht of Gaithersburg, Md., and Betsy Joan LaVier of Satellite Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Orion Andrew Swank and Jon Carter Soderena; a nephew, Brian Cameron, and two nieces, Heather Cameron and Tara Cameron.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home at 509 Carthage St.
The family will have a private ceremony Jan. 10 at Wrightsville Beach.
Toni will be greatly missed.
MARGUERITE TAYLOR-NAGY
SANFORD - Marguerite C. Taylor-Nagy, 73, of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla., died Saturday (1/3/04) in Florida.
A native of Pinehurst, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Watts Campbell Sr. and Flora Dula Campbell. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Weeks.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Barbecue Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Sandy Williams.
Surviving are a daughter, Flora Bowman of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Brown and husband Rick; a brother, Thomas W. Campbell and wife Ruby of Sanford; sisters, Theresa Cocolin of Sanford, Gwyn Campbell-Dixon and husband J.C. of Riverside, Calif., and Billie Campbell-Hickox and husband William of Callahan, Fla.; grandchildren, John B. Bowman III, Christopher Scott Bowman, Brandy Nichole Starrett and husband Byron and Crystal Mariah Weber and husband Terry; great-grandchildren, Xavier Orian McMeekin, Heaven Mariah Weber and Thomas Weeks; and numerous nieces, nephews and stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

RAYBA GROCE
PITTSBORO - Rayba Yarborough Groce, 93, of 140 Brookstone Terrace, died Tuesday (1/6/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late James Arthur Yarborough and Rilla Harriet Thomas Yarborough. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Groce, and a son, James Groce. She was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Jonesboro Garden Club and the Jonesboro Bridge Club.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jonesboro United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jeff Davis. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Linda Groce Elkins and husband Randy of Goldston; great-granddaughters, Suzanne Stone and Amy Elkins Coley; great-great-granddaughter, Macy Coley; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

STALEY - Peggy Langley Burke, 64, of Staley, died Thursday (2-12/04) at home.
A native of Randolph County, she was retired from Collier-Keyworth Inc. in Liberty. She was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church and the Ixthus Sunday school class.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek, by the Rev. Robert Capps and Allen Overton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City, and at other times at the family home.
Survivors include her husband, Raeford Burke; stepson, Ronnie Burke of Sanford; brothers, Eugene Langley of Liberty and Tommy Langley of Staley; sisters, Hilda McMasters, Marie Meacham and Linda McManus, all of Staley; a grandchild and many adopted grandchildren.

BERTHA COLEMAN
LILLINGTON - Bertha Strickland Coleman, 87, of Lillington, died Thursday (2/12/04) at Brookfield Retirement Center.
She worked at J.E. Womble and Sons for more than 30 years as a sales associate. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Coleman, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home with the Rev. David Harris. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the home of Larry Coleman.
Survivors include a son, Larry Coleman of Erwin; a sister, Mary Jane and husband Charlie of Mamers; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
