SANFORD - Eunice Edwards McLean, of 2615 Applegate Way, died Monday (2/9/04) at Laurels of Chatham Nursing Home in Pittsboro.
Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim's Rest Church by Bishop Chenner Smith. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Lendell Alston (Barbara) of Upper Marlboro, Md.; sisters, Elon Graham, Frances Heck and Sophia Battle, all of Sanford; brothers, John Edwards and William Edwards, both of Sanford; two grandsons and three great-grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Elon Graham, 822 Juniper St., Sanford.

LINDA JOHNSON
SANFORD - Linda Faye Farrow Johnson, of 13711 Palmetto Circle, Germantown, Md., formerly of Sanford, died Sunday (2/8/04) at her home.
She was a 1969 graduate of Broadway High School and was employed by United Airlines. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Elsie Farrow.
Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Snowden Funeral Chapel, 246 N. Washington St., Rockville, Md.
Surviving are a daughter, Tonya Garett of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Eric Johnson of Germantown; a sister, Frances Farrow; brothers, Robert Farrow, Charlie R. Farrow, Tony Farrow and Larry Farrow; stepmother, Mazie Farrow; and an aunt.

ZELDA THOMAS
SANFORD - Funeral for Zelda Wylanza Thomas, 54, of 316 McIver St., who died Monday (2/9/04) was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Steve Rosser, the Rev. Garland Foushee and the Rev. Pearl Castleberry. Burial followed in Grace Chapel Cemetery.
Soloist was Stephanie Cole.
Pallbearers were Dale Lynch, Danny Gautier, Tracy Gautier, Ronnie Davis, Junior Bodenhamer and Bert Windham.
Among the survivors was a brother, Lynn Thomas.

HELEN HARRINGTON
SANFORD - Funeral for Helen Bowie Harrington, 89, of 1801 Wicker St., who died Monday (2/9/04), was conducted Thursday at St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Coppock.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary.
Organist was James D. Kimball. The congregation sang.

ETHEL EVANS
VASS - Elder Ethel Mae Evans, known as Mother Evans, of 163 Maple Lawn Lane, died Tuesday (4/13/04) at home.
She was born in Live Oaks, Fla. She was the founder and pastor of St. John Holiness Church, St. Joseph, St. Peter, Moores Chapel and was church overseer of St. John Holiness Ministries. She was awarded the state Governor's Award.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Evans; a son, Johnny Pertee; a daughter, Kathryn Fitzgerald; and parents, Edward and Lula Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John Holy Ministries in Cameron. Burial will be in Johnsonville A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery in Cameron.
She is survived by daughters, Catherine Evans of Lillington, Joallo Gaddy and husband James, and Almarie M. Chalmers and husband Ronnie, all of Anchorage, Alaska; sons, Alphonso Mosley and wife Mary Ann of Columbia, S.C., and Alphonso Mosley Jr. and wife Margaret, at home; sisters-in-law, Mary Jackson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Georgia Mae Tulloch-Reed of Hartford, Conn.
The family will receive friends from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

MYRTLE PRESTON
SANFORD - Myrtle Burns Preston, 68, of Sanford, died Wednesday (4/14/04) at home.
A native of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Kemp and Lucille Foushee Burns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade W. Preston.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Flat Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Hinson.
She is survived by daughters, Marion Lamonds and husband Carson, and Rebecca Perez and husband Archie, all of Sanford; sons, Billy W. Preston and wife Hazel and Dennis Preston and wife Debbie, all of Deep River, and James and Joy Preston of Sanford; special companion, Billy Spivey; 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 12 stepgreat-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home and other times at 1183 Deep River Road, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

SHEILA KIRKPATRICK
CAMERON - Sheila Mary Kirkpatrick, 55, of 147 Parker St., died Thursday (4/15/04) at home.
Born in Boston, she was daughter of the late Martha Neames. She was a self-taught artist and was previously employed with Haven of Lee County.
Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cameron Town Cemetery by the Rev. Bryan Sexton.
Surviving a are son, Kirk Kirkpatrick and wife Joy of Fayetteville; a sister, Jacquelyn Roy of Monroe, Wash.; a grandchild and three cousins.
There will be no visitation.

MARTIN GNYP
SANFORD - Martin Gnyp, 78, of Wilmington, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (4/14/04) at the Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Lee Memory Gardens with the Rev. Del Parkerson officiating.
Mr. Gnyp was born in Niederglaserdorf, Germany, on Dec. 5, 1925. He and his family moved to the United States in 1960 and obtained U.S. citizenship in 1965. He worked as a machinist for Ozone Industries in New York until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed reading and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Erika of Wilmington; sons, Dieter S.M. Gynp of Raleigh and Martin P. Gynp of Rocky Point; a daughter, Monika I. Lugavere of Sanford; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
