L.D. MARSH
SILER CITY - L.D. Marsh, 64, of 622 Gees Grove Road died Sunday (10/3/04) at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, he was a retired employee of Boling Chair and Chatham Novelty.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Gees Grove AME Zion Church by the Rev. Allen Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Eddie Lee Marsh; sons Jackie T. Marsh of Clanton, Ala., Larry D. Marsh of Waco, Texas, and Michael Marsh and Issac Marsh, both of Pittsboro; a daughter, Beverly M. Burnett of Pittsboro; a sister, Dorothy Toombs of Aberdeen, Md.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. today at the church.

GEORGE McELVEEN
CAMERON - Funeral for George Elvin McElveen, 72, of 2540 Pilson Road, who died Sunday (10/3/04), was held Wednesday at Hunt Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Billy Crabtree and the Rev. Mike Oldham. Burial followed in Lee Memory Gardens with full military rites.
Organist was Sherry Pruette and soloists were Vickie McElveen and Mike Cooper.
Mike Cooper, Billie Cooper and Norma Jean Gunter also sang.
Pallbearers were Gene Carmack, Gregg Dixon, Brian Bradshaw, Brian Langley, E.C. Waddell and Jesse Tillett.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
LENA FIRSOVS
BROADWAY - Lena Ray Haire Firsovs, 73, of 1131 Buie Road died Thursday (10/7/04) at her residence.
She was born in Harnett County, a daughter of the late Johnnie Jones and Mary Kate Ray Haire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Firsovs, and a son, Jerry R. Firsovs.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home of Broadway by the Rev. Garland Smith. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill United Methodist Church cemetery in Lillington.
Surviving are a son, Shawn S. Firsovs and wife Linda of Broadway; a sister, Christine Gonia of Broadway; a grandson and two stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home of Broadway and at other times at the residence, 1131 Buie Road, Broadway.
SHELIA McNEILL
BROADWAY - Shelia Solis McNeill, 46, of 479 Mt. Pisgah Church Road died Thursday (10/7/04) at her residence.
She was a native of Harnett County. She was preceded in death by her father, Velton Lee Solis, and a brother, Danny Wayne Solis.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McNeill Family Cemetery in Broadway by the Rev. Scott Yow.
Surviving are her husband, Ricky McNeill; her mother, Evelyn Webb and stepfather, Zebbie D. Webb of Sanford; a daughter, Penny Lynn Hamilton of Broadway; sons Bobby Joe Hamilton of Hillsborough, Brandon Lee Hamilton and Phillip James Hamilton, both of Broadway; stepchildren Cynthia Lynn McNeill of Newton Grove, Bobby Leon McNeill of Broadway and Christopher Lee McNeill of Lillington; a sister, Sylvia Solis Salmon of Broadway; stepsisters Teresa Hiney of Reidsville and Renee Ware of Concord; and 10 grandchildren.

HERBERT BUCKNER Jr.
SILER CITY - Herbert H. "Pop Herbert" Buckner Jr., 79, of 6424 Siler City-Snow Camp Road died Wednesday (10/6/04) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Born June 22, 1925, he was a son of the late Leola and Herbert H. Buckner Sr. of Siler City. He graduated from Silk Hope High School. For 37 years he and his wife owned and operated Buckner Iron and Metal Co. of Siler City and retired in 1991. He was an active member and deacon at Rocky River Baptist Church and the adult choir. He was a charter member of the Zooland Region Antique Automobile Club of America
DOROTHY CORREA
SANFORD - Dorothy Perkins Cox Correa, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Kindred Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olivia Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Walton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Correa was a native of Harnett County and a daughter of the late Edward Eugene and Rachel Cameron Perkins.
Mrs. Correa is survived by one son, Ralph Edward Cox and wife Christine of Olivia; two daughters, Phyllis C. Swann and husband Billy of Olivia and Diane C. McNeill and husband Dale of Sanford; six grandchildren, Alan Cox, Annette Davis, Richard Swann, Sara Messer, Ryan Patterson and wife Jenny and Jennifer Patterson; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Brianna Swann, Dalton Messer and Abigail Messer.

RICHARD WILLIAMS
SANFORD - Richard Womack Williams, 69, of Carolina Trace died Oct. 1, 2004, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.
Mr. Williams was born to the late Cora Estes and Clyde Williams in Old Hickory, Tenn., on Dec. 16, 1934. He served in the United States Army Reserve and attended the University of Louisville. Mr. Williams was a past member of the board of directors at Carolina Trace, as well as various other committees, and was affectionately known as "Mr. Carolina Trace." He and his wife have been members of the Trace for 15 years. Mr. Williams was also an avid golfer and a sports enthusiast.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Louise Williams. Also, by one niece, Mrs. Cathy Bagley of Hamilton, Ohio.
A memorial service for Mr. Williams will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, in the chapel at Miller-Boles Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service at the Carolina Trace Country Club.

JAMES ZIMMERMAN
CARTHAGE - Sgt. 1st Class James R. "Zeke" Zimmerman, U.S. Army, Ret., 71, of Vass-Carthage Road, died Wednesday (4/9/03) at his residence.
A son of the late James Edwin and Emma Mae Livengood Zimmerman, he was a retired U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a long distance truck driver for Kennedy Freight Line. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Zimmerman.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Victory Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Chaney and the Rev. Darrell Garner. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Corina Kiser Zimmerman; a daughter, Judy Lyons of Jefferson City, Tenn.; a son, Danny Zimmerman of Leesville, La.; sisters, Josephine Brown of Carthage and Betty Futch of Fayetteville; a brother, Billy T. Zimmerman of Level Cross; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ALLIE KEYSER
BUIES CREEK - Allie Jane Keyser, 81, of Buies Creek, died Tuesday (4/8/03) at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital, Dunn.
Born in Kinston, she was a daughter of the late Alonza Franklin and Tessie Lee Hill Harrington. She was a former resident of Greenville.
For more than 30 years she served as secretary to Dean A.R. Burkot and Dean Bryant Ledgerwood of Campbell University. Among her skills was letter-perfect typing. She was secretary of the Friendly Homemaker Club of Buies Creek and was the 1989 Club Woman of the Year.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Baptist Church in Buies Creek by Dr. David Whiteman. Inurnment will follow at Westview Memorial Gardens in Lillington.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Keyser of Buies Creek; a daughter, Julia Ann Faison Janiski of Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Donna Sue Currin of Coats; stepsons, Harold Keyser of Raleigh and Philip Keyser of California; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

CAMERON - Norman E. Smith, 73, of Cameron, died Tuesday (4/8/03) at his residence.
He was born in Inglewood, Calif., a son of the late Kenton and Frances Smith. He was an Army veteran who retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sandhills Veterans Cemetery, Spring Lake.
Surviving are his wife, Eugenia Stokes Smith; a daughter, Terri S. Dull and husband Kenneth of Cameron; and a grandson.

GOLDSTON - Doris Brewer Mashburn, 77, of 1624 N.C. 42, died Wednesday (4/9/03) at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro.
A native of Chatham County, she was a member of Carbonton United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd T. Mashburn, and a daughter, Sandra Mashburn.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carbonton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Frank Lloyd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are sons, Kenneth Mashburn, Eric Mashburn and Gregory Mashburn, all of Goldston, Jeffrey Mashburn of Broadway and Steve Mashburn of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
