SANFORD - William Teamus "W.T." Johnson, 60, of 1741 Farrell Road, died Sunday (6/6/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was employed by Sierra Pines for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Alice Johnson, a brother, Paul Johnson, and a sister, Betty McCutchen.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Endland A.M.E. Zion Church by Dr. Ronald McCrowe. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Martha M. Johnson of Sanford; sons, John Brooks of Fayetteville, Maurice Johnson of Charlotte and Timothy Johnson and wife Takneeka and Joshua and Jeremy Johnson, all of Sanford; daughters, Faith Stewart and Renee Howze and husband Ben, all of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Mary W. Hooker, Martha Gunter, Brenda Bright and Elmalene Cox and husband Garfield, all of Sanford, and Bobbie Jackson and husband Donald of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Roy Johnson Sr. and wife Alice and James Johnson Sr. and wife Katrina, all of Sanford; sisters-in-law, the Janie Harris and husband Johnny and June M. Grant and husband Ronald, all of Laurel Hill; and brothers-in-law, Ozell Johnson Jr. and wife Avis of Laurel Hill and Walter McCutchen of Sanford.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at 1741 Farrell Road.

CARTHAGE - John McLaughlin, 52, of Carthage, died Monday (6/7/04) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will follow in the Ingram Branch Cemetery.
Surviving are wife, Linda McLaughlin; daughters, Rita McLaughlin of Aberdeen and Karren Shamberger of Robbins; a son, Lonnie McLaughlin of Aberdeen; sisters, Flora Simmons and Frances Quick, both of Baltimore, Md., Eyvonne Brown of Newport, Va., and Vivian Ann McLaughlin of Carthage; brothers, Michael McLaughlin of Greensboro and Dalton McLaughlin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

MARTHA LENNON
OAK ISLAND - Martha Cary Eppes Lennon, 88, of Oak Island, formerly of Sanford, died Monday (6/7/04) at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
Born Aug. 2, 1915, in Greenville, S.C., she was a daughter of the late James Frank and Vena Adams Eppes. After many moves, she settled on Oak Island in 1976.
During World War II, she was known for knitting one item per week for enlisted men. Over the past 20 years, she traveled the world. She was involved in civic and church activities and was a member of the Oak Island Presbyterian Church and its women's group.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Hardy Eppes, Judge Frank Eppes and Francis Thornton Eppes.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. June 21 at Oak Island Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are husband, Crom Lennon, at home; a daughter, Lucy Shearer and husband Tom of Lake Norman; a son, William Lennon; a brother, James Albert Eppes of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Mary Ann Eppes McCullough of Greenville, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peacock-Newman Funeral Home of Southport.

SANFORD - Felipa Alfaro, 56, of 67 Lori Lane, died Saturday (6/5/04) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Conrrado Najera, and her mother, Matiloe Goicochea.
Service will be held at 8 p.m. today at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford by the Rev. John Forbes.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Buffalo Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Jacinto Vivas, and a sister, Elodia Garcia, both of Sanford.

CAMERON - Maggie McNeill, 93, of Cameron, died Sunday (6/6/04) at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Church in Cameron. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are daughters, Bessie Brewington and husband Milton of Cameron and Ruby Clegg of Spring Lake, and a son, Lee David McNeill of Sanford.

ABERDEEN - Mary Louise Dunn, 28, of 10070 N.C. 211 East, Aberdeen, died Monday (6/7/04) in Aberdeen.
Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Meroney United Methodist Church in Bear Creek by the Rev. Jim Whittaker. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
Surviving are father and stepmother, Charles and Betty L. Dunn of Spring Lake; sisters, Pamela Dunn and Donna Dunn, both of Aberdeen; and brothers, Henry Dunn of Pine Bluff, Barry Dunn of California and William Dunn of Pinehurst.

SANFORD - Jesse Joseph White, 82, of 600 Harkey Road, died Monday (6/7/04) at his home.
A native of Surry County, he was a son of the late John William White and Sarah Etta Dunbar White. He was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and former owner of Jonesboro Dry Cleaners and White's One Hour Cleaners. He was a Mason and former city alderman.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Joseph White Jr.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with Masonic rites.
Surviving are a wife, Lillian Bullock White, at home; a daughter, Cynthia White Buchanan and husband Richard Scott of Sanford; sisters, Maie White Evans of Sanford, Myrtle White Foushee of Greensboro and Aggie White Norman of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Richard Scott Buchanan Jr., Cindy Buchanan Cole and Jeffrey Joseph Buchanan; and great-grandchildren, Amanda Bunnell, Alex Buchanan, Erin Buchanan, Lauren Cole and Justin Cole.

PITTSBORO - Louise Strowd Moore, 93, died Friday (8/6/04).
Moore was a native and lifelong resident of northern Chatham County. She will be remembered for her unwavering generosity; her love of flowers, babies and other growing things; and her joyful and happy approach to life.
Funeral was held Monday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pittsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bland Moore and a daughter, Margaret Bland Moore Milliken. Surviving are daughter, Frances Strowd Moore Danek of Pittsboro; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
