SILER CITY - Parker Van Coble, 49, of 519 W. Raleigh St., died Thursday (4/8/04) at the residence.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Gray officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian.
He was a native of Chatham County and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Male Chorus. He was also a member of Light of the World Lodge 711, Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Coble; a son, Kendric Coble of Charlotte; his mother, Lucille Siler Coble of Siler City; brothers, Wilbert Coble Jr. and Bennie Coble and wife Carolyn, all of Staley; stepdaughters, Jeanettia Holman of Browns Summit and Rosalyn Higgins of Newport News; stepsons, Ramsey Edmonds of Washington, D.C., and Odell Edmonds II of Fort Sill, Okla.

LILLINGTON - Funeral service for Vida Lee Peed Senter, 84, who died Friday (4/9/04), was conducted Monday at Lillington Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Morris. Burial was in Harnett Memorial Park.
Organist was Ruby Mae Long. Pianist was Shirley Shelbourne. Vocalist was Kathy Sutter.
Pallbearers were Marvin Lester Bethune III, James Fountain Kear III, Christopher Senter Wilson, John Paul Bethune, William Scott Bethune, David Senter Kear, William Patrick Langdon, John Gabriel Langdon, David Aaron Senter Jr. and Stephen Andrew Senter.

SANFORD - Funeral service for Paul Rudolph Holland II, 31, of 3310 Wycliff Court, who died Friday (4/9/04), was conducted Monday at Grace Chapel Church by Dr. Jerry Falwell. Comments were by Andy Murr. Words of comfort were by the Rev. Tim Murr. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Organist was Linda Spivey. Keyboardist was Libby Murr. The Murr Trio sang. Soloist was Donald Perrell.
Active pallbearers were Roger Thomas, Joel Murr, Andy Murr, Wayne Hawkersmith, Joe Brown and Steve Donohoe. Honorary pallbearers were his caregivers.

SANFORD - Funeral service for James Duncan McNeill, 63, of 125 St. Andrews Church Road, who died Friday (4/9/04), was conducted Monday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Yandle.
Active pallbearers were Les Collins, Ronnie Smith, Dennis McLean, Danny Yow, Chad Cameron and Stephen Holder. Honorary pallbearer was L.D. Gillis.

MARY FRANCES WICKER
SANFORD - Mrs. Mary Frances Gilmore Wicker, 92, of Sanford, died Sunday (4/11/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller-Boles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. G. Mark Klass officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wicker was a native of Lee County, the daughter of the late John Mack Gilmore and Mary Elizabeth Dawson. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and took pleasure in cooking for family, friends and her church family, having been a long-standing friend of the First Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Joe Byrd Wicker and L. Craig "Wick" Wicker; two sons, Donnie Merle Wicker and Joe Carl Wicker; and two infant daughters.
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Wicker Desjardins and husband Paul of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Carla Renee Wicker of Sanford, Bridget Wicker Luther of Lexington, Donnie Merle Wicker of Hope Mills and Diane Wicker Nye of Laguna Vista, Texas; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Boles Funeral Home, 1150 Firetower Road.
GRETCHEN SCHUYLER
LAURINBURG - Gretchen R. Schuyler, 85, of Laurinburg, formerly of Sanford, died Tuesday (8/3/04) at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Haddonfield, N.J., to the late Halford and Ethel Schlehner Runge. She was a librarian in the industrial research field and had been a resident of Scotia Village for some time.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Morris Morgan Room at Scotia Village. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Columbarium in Sanford.
Surviving are stepdaughters, Patricia Hawthorne of Baltimore, Md., and Karen Valentino of West Chester, Pa.; a niece; and a cousin.
Arrangements are by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

SANFORD - William Isaac "Ike" Spivey Jr., 60, died Friday (8/6/04) at his home.

SANFORD - J. Frank Kelly, 73, of Sanford, died Friday morning (8/6/04) at his home.
Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Joseph "J.C." and Josie Wilson Kelly. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Maggie Kelly Allen, brothers, Vendral Kelly, Robert Kelly, James Gilbert Kelly and Clarence Kelly and a great-granddaughter, Amber Harper.
Funeral will be held at 7 p.m. today in Rogers Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rocky Fork Christian Church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Hyson Eudy Kelly; daughters, Peggy Faulk and husband Ronnie and Brenda Boyd, all of Cameron, and Deborah Baker and husband Bobby and Carol O'Quinn and husband Eddie, all of Sanford; a sister, Joan Smiley of Goldsboro; a brother, B.M. "Moody" Kelly of Cameron; grandsons, Travis Harper and wife Velvet of Newport, Frankie Boyd and Dale Simmons and wife Crystal, all of Cameron; granddaughters, Paula Jones of Cincinnati and Jamie Harper and David Watts of Cameron; and granddaughters, Kelly Harper and Jessy and Destiny Watts.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

CAMERON - Rodney Glen Wood, 39, of 2757 Nicholson Road, died Saturday (8/14/04) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He was a native of New Bern. He was an organ donor at his request.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Broadway by the Rev. Scott Yow.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Cole Wood of Sanford; a daughter, Samantha Nicole Wood of Cameron; sons, Shawn Phillip Cole and Steven David Wood, both of Cameron; stepfather, Joel B. Randolph of Grovebreeze, Fla.; a sister, Jacquiline Birchall of Grovebreeze, Fla.; and a brother, Greg Randolph of Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the home of Carrie Wood, 904 Hawkins Ave.

GOLDSTON - Carson Steward Townsend, 83, of 539 S. Church St., died Sunday (8/15/04) at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Avery County, he was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Boling Chair Company. He was a member of Goldston Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane T. Hicks, and a son, Bobby S. Townsend Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goldston Baptist Church, 190 N. Church St., by the Rev. David Hicks and the Rev. Gerald Bridges. Burial will be in Goldston Cemetery with military rites.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Mastin Townsend of Goldston; a son, Carson Lewis Townsend of Pittsboro; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home and other times at the family home.
