Wendell Faucett
Lillington - Funeral service for Wendell "Wendy" Faucett, 47, who died Wednesday (4/2/03), was conducted Saturday at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel by the Rev. Robert Hammond.
Burial followed in Westview Memorial Gardens.
Pat Coleman was pianist.
Pallbearers were Bobby Thomas, Junior Breeden, Johnny Langdon, Marty Byrd, Clint Taylor and Jeff Thomas.
William Stewart
Stedman - William Benton Stewart, 77, of 5215 Jaycee St., Stedman, died Saturday (4/5/03) at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers with Dr. Phillip Spears officiating.
Stewart was a native of Harnett County, the son of the late William Benton and Mary Lou Byrd Stewart.
He is survived by two brothers, S.E. Stewart of Wilmington and A.L. Stewart of Lillington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro.
Pearl Hudson
VASS - Funeral service for Pearl Eva Sherrick Hudson, 70, of 107 Johnson St., Vass, who died Wednesday (4/2/03), was held Saturday at Vass Presbyterian Church by the Rev. W.W. Olney and the Rev. Gary Hudson. Burial followed in Johnson Grove Cemetery.
Pianist was Chris Stewart. The congregation sang.
Active pallbearers were Billy Jessup, Richard Allen, David Womack, James Allen Hudson, Timmy Cameron and John Bullock. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Lee Lassiter and Paul Cameron.

Seagrove - Melvin Lee Owens, 88, a master potter of Busbee Road, Seagrove, died Saturday (4/5/03) in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins.
JIMMY DEAN
SANFORD - Jimmy Dean, 37, of Sanford, died Sunday (7/20/03) at home.
He was a registered nurse at Harnett Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Lillington by the Rev. Harry Thomas and the Rev. Jerome Pope. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He is survived by is father, James Dean Sr. of Lillington; his mother, Carolyn Dean Creech of Lillington; sisters, Angela Powers of Lillington and Tina Venjohn of South Dakota; grandmothers, Mildred Wallace and Ida Dean Wallace, both of Lillington; and two nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at the home of Carolyn Dean Creech.

LOIS DAWSON
SANFORD - Lois Stevens Dawson, 93, of Sanford, died Friday (7/18/03) at home.
A native of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Asbury Stevens and Mollie Ragland Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carl Dawson Sr.; sisters, Zelma Irby and Beulah Davis and Ida Dunnstan; and brothers, Ralph Stevens, Alex Stevens, Sam Stevens and Tom Stevens.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Turners Chapel Church by the Rev. Bruce MacInnes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held for 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Dawson Weber and husband Don of Centerville, Mass.; a son, Joseph C. Dawson Jr. of Sanford; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

ROBERT SLOAN
FLORENCE, S.C. - Robert Wayne Sloan, 61, of 1800 Joseph Drive, formerly of Sanford, died at his residence after a sudden illness.
A native of Sanford, he was a son of the late Perry Blease and Pauline Inman Sloan. He was employed with Bell South for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2001 and was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam conflict.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Florence Baptist Temple. Burial was in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

DAVID FREY
PINEHURST - David Richard Frey, 77, of Pinehurst, died Sunday (7/20/03) at home.
He was a native of Paradise, Pa., a son of the late John and Josephine Harris Frey.
A member of the Teamsters Union, he worked for 39 1/2 years for John S. Ewell Inc. as a long-haul trucker. He received many awards for safety, traveling more than a million miles during his career without an accident.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Frey, and sisters, Annie Swinehart, Rachael Miller and Violet Harkcom.
Funeral services will be held later in the week in Pennsylvania.
He is survived by daughters, Judy A. Wendler and husband George of Pinehurst and Debra J. Krasley and husband Wynn of Sanford; a sister, Frances Ditzler of Columbia, Pa.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Boles Funeral Home & Crematory of Southern Pines.

SILER CITY - Pamela Leavy Haire, 50, of 513 S. Second Ave., died Sunday (7/20/03) at home.
A native of Chatham County, she was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church. She was a certified nurse's assistant with UNC Hospitals Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda E. Haire; parents, John Leavy and Elizabeth Burke Leavy; a brother, Edward Leavy; and a sister, Brenda Leavy Jaroslewicz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Brookdale Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Jones. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson B. Haire Sr. , daughters, Melissa A. Haire and Melissa A. Heit, and sons, Nelson B. Haire Jr. and John C. Haire, all of Siler City; sisters, Lou Anne Jordan of Springville, N.Y., and Tina Bonilla of Siler City; and brothers, David Leavy of Reidsville and Billy Leavy of Siler City.

WILBUR LOCKARD
SANFORD - Wilbur J. "Jack" Lockard, 87, of Sanford, a longtime Lorain County, Ohio, resident, died Sunday (7/13/03) at the Durham Regional Medical Center in Durham following an extended illness.
A native of Van Wert, Ohio, he had been a resident of Sanford since 1978, coming from Lorain.
He was employed as an electrician for the Western Automatic Corp. and then its successor company, the Moen Corp. of Elyria, Ohio, for 42 years. He retired in 1978.
He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lorain as well as a member of Lorain Lodge 1301 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel in Lorain, conducted by Sister Catherine Romancik, chaplain of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center. Burial was in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, Ohio.
He is survived by a son, Jacque Lockard of Sanford; a daughter, La Rita Pohorence of Amherst, Ohio; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

CAMERON - Ruth Anna Cook, 72, of 2500 N.C. 87 South, died Sunday (7/20/03) at home.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hillmon Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Allen Admire. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Buel Cook of Cameron; sons, Dale Cook and wife Avis and Jimmy Cook, all of Cameron; a daughter, Connie Cook Tice and husband Doug of Jonesville; brothers, James Sheek and Kenneth Sheek, both of Yadkinville; and sisters, Dot Fulton and Gerry Parham, both of Belews Creek.
