SARAH MANSFIELD
BROADWAY - Funeral for Sarah Copeland Mansfield, 86, of 200 Mansfield Drive, who died Monday (8/2/04), was held Thursday at Broadway Presbyterian Church by Dr. Harold Stone. Burial followed in the Broadway Town Cemetery.
Shatauka Hall-Johnson and Beth Kelly sang. Jimmy Jones was organist, and pianist was Melanie Leslie.
Pallbearers were Robert Jones, Donald Collins, Larry Thomas, Denny Hunter, Johnny Hunter and Gale Black. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Eldon Sloan, Harold Harrington, Eugene Thomas, Edith Sineath, Helen Robinson, Rhea McDonald, Marie Knight, Patricia Burton, Luddie Burns and Janice Crump.
Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home of Broadway.
ROBERT ASHBURN
CARTHAGE - Robert Lee Ashburn, 79, of 2343 Underwood Road, Carthage, died Thursday (8/12/04) at home.
A Moore County native, he was the son of the late Major W. Ashburn and Floyd Essie Hudson Ashburn.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette Hilton; stepsons Ed Hale of Sanford and Vernon Hale of Candor; stepdaughter Judie Duncan and husband James; and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lamms Grove Cemetery by the Rev. David Bibey.
The family will accept friends at the residence, 2343 Underwood Road, Carthage.
Arrangements are by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
MELVIN STANLEY
LILLINGTON - Funeral for O. Melvin Stanley, 77, of Lillington, who died Thursday (8/12/04), was held Saturday at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel by the Rev. Charles Rambeau.
Burial was in Westview Memorial Gardens.
Don Waters played the piano.
Pallbearers were Glenn Messer, Margaret Joyner, Melvin Yow, Eddie Smith, Sammy Suggs and J.C. Suggs. Honorary pallbearers were Ronald Kelly, Foster "Jack" Withers, David Brown, Edison Patterson, Paul McDonald.
Arrangements were by O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.
IRA CAMERON
SANFORD - Ira Cameron, 69, of Sanford died Thursday (8/12/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Kelly Cameron; sons Randy Cameron of Sanford and Stephon Cameron of Maysville, Ky.; brothers John Cameron and wife Joann, Robert Cameron and William Cameron, all of Sanford, and Frank Cameron of Southern Pines; sister Sarah Jefferson and husband James of Sanford; three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, four aunts, an uncle, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at noon Monday at Chestnut AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
There will be no wake.

NORMA ALEXANDER
SANFORD - Norma Alexander, 48, of Sanford, died Saturday (8/14/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.

CLIFTON HIBBARD
SANFORD - Clifton Ray Hibbard, 48, of 4734 Buckhorn Road, died Wednesday (8/11/04) at home.
A native of Enid, Okla., he was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Louise McNeill Hibbard.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Martin Hibbard, of Ada, Okla., and brother Steve Hibbard and wife Alene, of Sanford.
There will be no funeral service. As a memorial, the family will receive friends at the Hibbard home today from 2 to 7 p.m.

KENNETH BUIE
CHAPEL HILL - Kenneth Ray Buie, 55, of Sanford died Thursday (8/12/04) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Buie of Sanford; mother Alice R. "Becky" Buie of Hope Mills; daughters Anna Christine Buie of Charlotte and Candice Marie Buie of Greenville, S.C.; son Geoffrey Buie of Malstrom Air Force Base in Montana; sisters Sheila Weatherford of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Elaine Strickland of Fayetteville; and brothers James C. Buie of Wilmington and Rocky L. Buie of Autryville.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. Edward J. Kita.
Visitation is today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Adcock Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, N.C., 27605.

DANIEL FOX
FAYETTEVILLE - Daniel "Hubert" Fox, 83, of Fayetteville, formerly of Bennett, died Friday (8/13/04) at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.
A Harnett County native, he was a railway section hand in his youth. He received a Purple Heart for his Army service in World War II. He was a member of Putnam Friends Church.
There are no immediate family survivors.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Putnam Friends Cemetery by the Rev. D.L. Hussey.
A visitation is will be held today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Joyce Brady Funeral Home in Bennett.
Arrangements are by Joyce Brady Funeral Home.
RACHEL COMER
CAMERON - Rachel Holder Comer, 73, of 1875 Red Hill Road, died Thursday (4/3/03) at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
A native of Moore County, she was preceded in death by her father, Idle V. Holder. She worked for the Moore County Clerk of Court, holding various positions, until being elected clerk and serving until her retirement in 1993.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rocky Fork Christian Church by the Rev. Misty T. Mowrey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving is her husband, Richard L. Comer; a daughter, Rhonda Sue Holland of Madison; sons, Richard L. Comer Jr. of Denver, Colo., and Randal V. Comer of Cameron; mother, Mamie Davis Holder of Sanford; sister, Edna Johnson of Sanford; a brother, Johnny Holder of Cameron; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
JAMES MCKINNIE
KIPLING - James Brannon McKinnie, 85, of Kipling, died Friday (4/4/03) at Western Wake Hospital, Cary.
He was a lifelong resident of Kipling. He was preceded in death by daughters, Betty McKinnie and Louise Lee, and a grandson.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by the Rev. Eddie Hill. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Gardens, Lillington.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Inez McKinnie; sons, Louis McKinnie of Spring Lake and Allen McKinnie of Tennessee; daughters, Debbie Partin of Angier and Tersas Atwood of Colorado; a sister, Gail Weathers of Virginia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Louis McKinnie.

SANFORD - Funeral for Tyler Allen Branch, 8, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (4/1/03), was held Friday at Central Baptist Temple by the Rev. Mike Oldham. Burial followed in Buffalo Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Henry Grant and April Smith.
Pallbearers were Andy Stone, Michael Stone, Tommy Smith, Greg Stone, Jerry Adkins and Steve Allmond.

SANFORD - Funeral for Glenwood Sherrill, 49, of 1213 Kelly Drive, who died Tuesday (4/1/03), was held Friday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home by the Rev. Otto Meadows and the Rev. Enest Harvey. Burial followed in Buffalo Cemetery.
Soloist was Joel W. Britt. Taped music was played.
Pallbearers were Junior Sanderson, Carlton Sanderson, Michael Oxendine, Gabby Locklear, Gene Knapp and Jeremiah Knapp.
