MAMERS - Jessie Delbert Page, 72, of Salisbury, a former resident of Mamers, died Tuesday (7/22/03) in Buckhead, Ga.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars, he was a truck driver for Jevic Transportation and also owned and operated his own truck for 30 years. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church of Salisbury and a former member of Cool Springs United Methodist Church, Broadway.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Constance Joy Page; a son, Jeffrey Page of Douglasville, Ga.; daughters, Melanie Lowe of Oxford, Ga., and Joy Almand of Madison, Ga.; sisters, Oner Lloyd and Bessie Page, both of Mamers, and Zerla Barton and Gertrude Hughes, both of Chesterfield, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Cool Springs United Methodist Church, Broadway.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, Lillington.

JAMES RALPH SMITH
LEMON SPRINGS - James Ralph Smith, 62, of 2644 Pilson Road, died Thursday (7/24/03) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.
Born in Rockingham, he was the son of the late Jesse James Smith and Flossie Smith Smith. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jesse James Smith and Eugene Smith.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Boyette. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Janie Mae Parker Smith; daughters, Sandra Denkins of Sanford, Charlene Cochrane and husband William of Cameron, and Lori Cody of Daytona Beach, Fla.; brothers, Monroe Smith and Everette Smith, both of Sanford, and Charles Smith of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Janie Bonnett of Manning, S.C., Mageline Walters of High Point, Trudy English of Lexington, Edna McDonald of Hamlet, and Flora Dell Radford of Sanford; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
BRUCE WEST
SPRING LAKE - Bruce Edward West, 64, of Spring Lake, died Wednesday (7/23/03) at Good Hope Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold West and Jennie Margaret Darroch West, and a sister, Mary Ann Darroch.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Roland Byrd and the Rev. Earl Swinson at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington. Burial will be in the West family cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ila West, at home; a daughter, Lisa Mason of Spring Lake; a son, William West of Spring Lake; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at his home.

BROADWAY - Funeral service for Janie W. Cameron, 89, who died Tuesday (7/22/03), was held Thursday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by Dr. Dawes Graybeal. Burial was in Leaflet Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lynwood Holland, Clyde Patterson, Danny Patterson, Levon Cameron, Ronald Cameron and Rodney Cameron.
Arrangements were by O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington.
EDNA NUNNERY
SANFORD - Edna Cashion Nunnery, 85, of Sanford, died Wednesday (8/27/03) at Convalescent Center of Sanford.
Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late John Avery and Annie Wicker Cashion. She was a longtime member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, church historian and was involved in the history of other Presbyterian churches in the area. She served on the session and taught Sunday school many years ago.
After graduating from high school in Sanford, she attended Lees-McRae College. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.G. "Sam" Nunnery; a brother, Jack Cashion; and a sister, Lucille Cashion.
Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Buffalo Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Thomas Marshall. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Julia Nunnery of Sanford; a son, Bill Nunnery Jr. and wife Regina of Sanford; a brother, Jimmy Cashion of Greenville; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Cashion of Sanford.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the funeral service.

SANFORD - Annella Bradsher "Ann" Thomas, 70, of Reidsville, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (8/27/03) at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
Born in Pearson County, she was a daughter of the late George R. and Mattie Oakley Bradsher.
Graveside service will be held at noon Saturday at Shallow Well United Church of Christ cemetery by the Rev. Sammy Young.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Edwin Thomas Sr.; a son, Charles Edwin Thomas Jr. and wife Maria of Nashville, N.C.; a daughter, Carla Thomas Luke and husband Dale of Greensboro; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

LILLINGTON - Malcolm H. McKoy, 67, of Chicago, died Sunday (8/24/03) at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Lillington, by Pastor Larry Robinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia J. Moore of Lillington and Linda Buie of Broadway; a sister, Dresser McKoy of Lillington; a foster sister, Willie Mae Kelly of Lillington; and brothers, Robert L. McLean and wife Alberta of Fayetteville and James O. McLean and wife Carolyn of Baltimore, Md.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home of Patricia J. Moore, 100 Lorene Lane, Lillington.

SILER CITY - Mollie Hardee Brooks, 94, of 918 N. Chatham Ave., died Wednesday (8/27/03) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A native of Horry County, S.C., she was a member of Siler City Church of God and was retired from Hadley-Peoples Manufacturing Company.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Siler City Church of God by the Rev. Neal Kight. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park.
Surviving are daughters, Mabel Todd of Siler City and Linda Bowman of Seagrove; a daughter-in-law, Shelby Causey of Siler City; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, and at other times at the home of Shelby Causey, 86 W. Shannon Road.

SILER CITY - Margaret Scotton Thomas, 84, of 85 Moore St., died Wednesday (8/27/03) at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro.
A native of Chatham County, she graduated from Staley High School, where she was a star basketball and baseball player, and a member of the debating team. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewvoy Thomas.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakley Baptist Church by the Rev. Timothy A. Howell. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park.
Surviving are a son, John Wayne Thomas of Siler City, a grandson and a stepgrandson.

SILER CITY - Marie Smith Wall, 84, of 4558 Pleasant Garden Road, died Wednesday.
A native of Chatham County, she was a graduate of Pfeiffer College, a member of First United Methodist Church, the Ladies Golf Association and Siler City Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Wall; brothers, Chalmer P. Smith and Garland E. Smith; and sisters, Tommie Dark Bernstein, Helen Rayle and Naomi Johnson.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Siler City, by the Rev. Joe Casteel. Burial will follow in Loves Creek Baptist Cemetery, Siler City.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Wall Poe and husband David of Siler City, five nieces and two nephews.
