MAMERS - Matthew Wayne Allen, 17, of Mamers, died Monday (6/23/03) at Betsy Johnson Hospital from an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Chapel in Lillington by the Rev. Mark Morris. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Gardens in Lillington.
He is survived by his father, Ray Allen of Mamers; mother, Rebecca Janard of Wade; a brother, Joseph Allen of Mamers and grandmother, Elizabeth Allen of Roxboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at home.

SANFORD - Charles A. Covington, 76, of 361 E. Forest Oak Drive, died Saturday (6/21/03) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wards Memorial Church. Burial at the church cemetery. There will be no wake.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Covington; a son, James A. Covington and wife Laurie of Beaver Dam, Wis.; daughters, Sandra C. Chappelle and husband King of Columbia, S.C., and Debra C. Crump and husband Kelvin of Moncure; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

THERESA PALME
SANFORD - Theresa Mallozi Palme, 67, of Sanford, died Sunday (6/22/03).
A native of Queens, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late William and Ann Cianculli Mallozi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Palme Sr. and a son, Charles J. Palme Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Lee Memory Gardens.
She is survived by sons, William C. Palme and wife Donna and Christopher P. Palme and wife Sandy, all of Sanford; and eight grandchildren.

ESTELLE MOORE
CARTHAGE - Estelle Almond Moore, 86, of Carthage, died Monday (6/23/03) at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late John Albert and Maggie Nora Lowder Almond.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Culdee Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Chris Bobo.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Moore; a daughter, Janie M. Taylor and husband Ed of Allen, Texas; a son, Robin Moore and wife Gloria of West End; a sister, Doris A. Blake of Aberdeen; a brother, Wade Almond of Aberdeen and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

She was eulogized Monday at Readshaw Funeral Home in Pittsburgh, Pa.

SILER CITY - Annie Bare Smith, 97, of 554 Javan Smith Road, died Monday (6/23/03) at Sun Bridge Care Facilities.
A native of Chatham County, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Smith and the Rev. Lamont Hemminger. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Joe Smith and wife Virginia, June Smith and wife Elaine, Jesse Smith and wife Frances, and Robert D. Smith and wife Mary, all of Siler City; a daughter, Betty Crews of Kernersville; a sister, Naoma Kivette of Liberty; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home and other times at the family home.

SANFORD - Funeral services for Mary Tucker Norman, 85, of Sanford, who died Friday (6/20/03), were conducted Monday at Rocky Fork Christian Church by the Rev. Jerry Burton, the Rev. Beth Williams and Mitch Norman. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pianist was Libbie Murr. Bass guitarist was Thomas Poindexter. Soloist was Mitch Norman. Thomas Poindexter, Lawrence Poindexter, Jimmy Banks, Amy McKinney and Julie Dossenbach sang. The congregation sang.
Pallbearers were Joe Johnson, Floyd Matthews, Bill Burgess, Wade Norman, Winfrey Caudill and Ned Lankford.

SANFORD - Funeral service for Beatrice Gray, 51, of Fayetteville, who died Thursday (6/19/03), was held Sunday at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Broadway by the Rev. Chalmers McDougald.
Gwendolyn Dailey sang a solo.
Floral bearers were Regina Palmer, Leslie Perry, Carolina Gilchrist, Tonya Hamer, Wanda Frazier, Angela Warren, Shante Taylor, Silver Jones, and Sharde' McNeil.
Pallbearers were Tyrone McKoy, Kenny Lyons, Shawn Dorsett, Royal Swann, John Witherspoon, Scott Simmons, Joseph McKoy and Ricky Hamer.
Honorary pallbearers were John Witherspoon, Brandon Martin, Eric Hancock and Chris Cox.
