FRANCES WILLIAMS
SANFORD - Frances Gross Williams, 59, of Sanford, died Monday (3/31/03) at Convalescent Care of Sanford.
Born in Englishtown, N.J., she was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav Gross and Mossie Johnson Gross. She was a graduate of Deep River High School.
She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis on Feb. 25, 1981, and passed away after a 22 year battle with the disease.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Hunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Staff Sgt. Robert Alton Williams, currently deployed to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne, and wife Jennifer of Spring Lake.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

BRIDGET WEAVER
MAMERS - Bridget Annette Weaver, 18, of Mamers, died Wednesday (4/2/03) as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by Dr. Ken Dalton. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park, Lillington.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Terry and Danny Gardner of Mamers; her father, Ronnie Weaver of Lillington; brothers, Daniel Weaver and Tommy Ray Gilbert Jr., both of Mamers; a stepsister, Summer Weaver of Mamers; her paternal grandfather, Shelton Weaver of Sanford; her stepgrandparents, John and Rosalee Gardner of Angier; and her maternal great-grandmother, Mary Draughon of Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

SANFORD - Funeral for John Thomas "J. T." Kirkman, 72, of Sanford, who died Sunday, was held Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tom Loftis and Michael Coppock. Burial followed in Buffalo Cemetery, with Masonic rites.
Soloist was Ben Matthews. Organist was Jimmy Kimball.
Pallbearers were Andy Stone, Ronnie Currin, Steve Seagroves, Richard Thomas, Charles Branch and Robert Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were the City of Sanford Board of Aldermen, the Sanford Police Department, Lee County Sheriff's Department and Northview Fire Department.

SANFORD - Memorial praise service for Elizabeth Mary Leppo O'Bryon, of 1901 Autumn Court, who died Friday, was held Tuesday at Sanford Chapel by Dr. S. David Ciliberto, Betty O'Bryon Ciliberto and James F. O'Bryon.
Music was provided by James F. O'Bryon, Cris E. O'Bryon, Kera O'Bryon and Lee Christian School grades 3-6, directed by Betty O'Bryon Ciliberto.
Pallbearers were Daniel J. O'Bryon, Douglas J. O'Bryon, Cris E. O'Bryon, Nathan Ciliberto, Craig Ciliberto and James Barnes.

CAMERON - Funeral for Helen Parker Hinson, 91, of 573 Carthage St., who died Sunday (3/30/03), was held Wednesday at Cameron Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Gilbert Ward and the Rev. Joan Ward. Eulogy was given by Isabel McKeithan Thomas. Burial followed in the Cameron Town Cemetery.
Organist was Isabel McKeithan Thomas. The congregation sang.
Pallbearers were Jim Cameron, Melvin Graham, Leon Keith, Joe M. McKay, James Roberts and Paul Thomas.
HENRY STONE
MONCURE - Funeral for Henry Lacy "Pete" Stone, 74, of 1405 Old U.S. 1, who died Sunday (3/30/03), was held Wednesday at the Truth Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Humphries. Burial followed in the Haywood Independent Bible Church cemetery.
The congregation sang. The Truth Missionary Singers sang.
Pallbearers were Mike Goldburg, Barry Mitchell, Danny Mitchell, David Mansfield, Steve Miller and Bud Lowery.
Honorary pallbearers were Homer Mitchell and J.T. Harrington.

VASS - Pearl Hudson, 70, of 107 Johnson St., died Wednesday (4/2/03) at her residence.

SANFORD - Tyler Allen Branch, 8, of Sanford, died April 1, 2003, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Central Baptist Temple with Rev. Mike Oldham officiating. Burial will be held at Buffalo Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Boles Funeral Home of Sanford.
Tyler attended Floyd L. Knight School and Central Baptist Temple. He enjoyed his farm animals (cows and goats). During his lifetime he has touched and blessed so many others. Through all of his ordeals he was always happy and smiling.
He is survived by his parents, Elizabeth and Bobby Branch of Sanford; maternal grandparents, Sharon B. Adkins and the late Jerry M. Adkins of Sanford; paternal grandparents, Bobby and Wanda Branch of Sanford; maternal great-grandparents, Ruth L. Bumgarner and the late Lloyd L. Bumgarner of Sanford; paternal great-grandparents, Charlie and Mildred Branch of Sanford; paternal great-grandparents, Kathleen Nunnery and the late Luther Nunnery of Sanford.
He is also survived by Uncle Jerry M. Adkins and wife Deborah of Sanford; Aunt Katherine Allmond and husband Steve of Sanford; Aunt Pam Iceman and husband Carl of Sanford; Uncle Keith Branch and wife Dana of Bear Creek; and Uncle Jeffrey Branch of Broadway.

HOMER FAULK
MOORESVILLE - Homer Gray Faulk succumbed on April 2, 2003, at his home in Mooresville, after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 26, 1929, in Winston-Salem, to the late Pearl Atkins and Joseph Monroe Faulk. He spent most of his career as an industrial economic developer, but spent his life as a spirited man who cared deeply for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Perry Faulk, his sons, Joseph Garland Faulk, of Kure Beach, and Bobby Gray Faulk, of Mooresville, three grandchildren, Hillary, Stacey and Gray Faulk, and his sister, Norma Jean Riley, of Carthage. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Dail and Billy Jack, and his sister, Estelle Stout Wilson.
Among his many accolades, Mr. Faulk was a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian honor given by the State of North Carolina. He was a pioneer in economic development for the state that he was proud to call home.
Visitation will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2003, with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. The graveside service will be held at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mooresville Christian Mission located at 480 N. College Street, Mooresville, N. C. 28115 would be greatly appreciated.

MATHEW HILL MABE
DANBURY - Mathew Hill Mabe, 71, of Danbury, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born in Stokes County, Aug. 24, 1931, to the late Berry McCoy and Lelia Hill Mabe. Mr. Mabe was a veteran of the Korean conflict, was retired from R.J. Reynolds, and was a deacon and member of Lawsonville Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Mary Lee Martin Mabe, of the home; two sons, Larry (Sharon) Mabe and Tommy Mabe, both of Danbury; two sisters, Jane Hardy of Sanford and Ailene (Randolph) Mabe, of High Point; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lawsonville Baptist Church, burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church and at other times at the home.

PATTY RIVERA
SANFORD - Patty Lorane Cooper Rivera, 39, of 4198 Cox Mill Road, died Thursday (3/13/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Newport News, Va., she was preceded in death by her father, Ollie James Cooper.
Funeral service was held Sunday (3/16/03) at Swann Station Baptist Church by the Rev. Russell Blackmon and the Rev. John Holder. Burial followed in the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Jody Luis Rivera of Sanford; her mother, Mozelle C. Cooper of Sanford; a son, Cody Webb Rivera and daughters, Jessica Lorane Rivera and Maggie Gaynell Rivera, all at home; brothers, John D. Cooper of Sanford and Jerald Lee Cooper and James Edward Cooper of Burgaw, and sisters, Theresa Kay Thomas of Suffolk, Va., and Joyce Sue Williams of Sanford.

CECIL THOMAS
BROADWAY - Cecil Carr Thomas, 79, of 315 S. Main St., died Monday (7/21/03) at home.
A native of Harnett County, he was a son of Sidney Gattis Thomas and Maggie Cameron Thomas. He attended N.C. State University. He had been a member of the Broadway Presbyterian Church for 50 years, where he was currently serving as an elder. He was a former member of the board of directors of BB&T, the Broadway School Board, the Broadway Lion's Club, the American Legion and the VFW of Sanford. He was a member of the Antique Car Club of America.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Broadway Presbyterian Church by Dr. Harold Stone. Burial will be in the Broadway Town Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Campbell Thomas; sons, Randy Thomas and wife Myra of Rocky Mount and Tim Thomas and wife Cindy of Mooresville; sisters, Ruth Cashion of Sanford and Violet Braxton of Fayetteville; brothers, Sidney C. Thomas of Suffolk, Va., Ted Thomas and Halford Thomas, both of Broadway, and Larry Thomas of Mooresville; and four grandchildren.
