BROADWAY - James G. Thomas, 85, of 301 Vernon St., Broadway, died Thursday (7/29/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Judd Thomas; sons Barry Douglas and wife Ianthia of Bowie, Md., and Ronald Thomas and wife Janet of Cameron; daughters Linda Thomas Murchison of Broadway and Iris Thomas Fewell and husband Alvis of Greensboro; sisters Anvileen Baker of Manhattan, Laura Jean Todd of Baltimore, Jessie Patterson of Baltimore, and Lucie Davis of Long Island; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Broadway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A wake is scheduled for one hour before the funeral.
Arrangements are by Knotts Funeral Home.
JOHN NALL
SYLVA - John E. Nall, 83, formerly of Moore County, died Friday (7/30/04) at home.
A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Jesse and Florence Hilliard Nall. He retired after 37 years with the N.C. Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife, Ronie Hough Nall; daughter Sandra N. Oldham of Sylva; sons Johnnie Nall of Bear Creek and Earl Nall of Marietta, S.C.; sister Gertrude Mitchell of Mebane; brother Frank Nall of Goldston; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Horseshoe Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Max Williams.
Visitation is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Horseshoe Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and other times at 876 Reno Sharpe Road, Bear Creek.

SANFORD - Mary Ann Garcia of Hope Mills, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (7/28/04).
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Reese; daughter Renee Garcia and stepfather Bill Robertson.
She is survived by her husband, Alex Garcia; daughter Lisa Knowles and husband Sid; sons Ricky Salyers and wife Angel and Alex Garcia Jr. and wife Teresa; mother Mary Higgins and husband Cecil; brothers Walter Reese, Lonnie Reese and wife Deborah, John Phillips and wife Marilyn, Joe Phillips and wife Casey, Randy Robertson and Bill Robertson Jr.; sisters Peggy Atkinson and Bettie Page and husband Steve; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton and Porter Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
ELSIE FOWLER
ORLANDO, Fla. - Funeral for Elsie Partin Fowler, 67, of Orlando, formerly of Moncure, who died July 24, was held Saturday at New Elam Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Leonard Nix.
Soloist was Sherry Holder.
Pallbearers were Donald Fowler, Allen Johnson, Johnny Holder, Steve Holder, Howard Dewitt and Mike Curtis.
Arrangements were by Smith Funeral Home of Moncure.

VASS - Funeral for James L. McCrimmon, who died Tuesday (7/27/04), was held Saturday at Frye's Free Will Baptist Church by Elder Kent L. McMillian.
Soloist was Carolyn McCrimmon. Pallbearers were friends and relatives.

ROBERT HARDY
CAMERON - Funeral for Robert Paul Hardy, 42, who died Thursday (7/29/04), was held Saturday at Pineywood Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Lassiter.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Kenneth Hales played guitar and sang. Organist was Virginia Lane.
Pallbearers were Barnie Comer, Frank Hardy, Reuben Hardy, Ray Hardy, Ken Hardy and Randy Hardy. Honorary pallbearers were Zeb Cox, Jerry Marsh and Donnie Horner.
MARGUERITE CAMPBELL
SANFORD - Marguerite Swaringen Campbell, 85, of 48 Swaringen Lane, died Tuesday (8/10/04) at her home.
Born in Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence S. Swaringen and Martha Amelia Brooks Swaringen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess P. Campbell, a grandson, Danny Morales, and a sister, Gladys S. Whitley.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mitzi Lescher-Thomas. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens at a later date.
Surviving are daughters, Pat Morales and husband Rafael and Gayle Armstrong, all of Sanford; a son, Ronny K. Campbell and wife Liz of Maryland; a brother, Steve Swaringen and wife Carolyn of Florida; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
STANLEY SREDNICKI JR.
BUFFALO LAKES - Stanley Srednicki Jr. of Buffalo Lakes died Monday (8/9/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was a retired U.S. Army master sergeant, serving in World War II and Korea. He was active in the Buffalo Lake Association.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at LaFayette Cemetery Park in Fayetteville with full military rites.
Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Srednicki; a son, Frank Srednicki of Sanford; daughters, Bridget Smiley of Alexandria, Va., and Ruth Burk of Richmond, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller-Boles Funeral Home.
CHARLES HAZLEWOOD
SANFORD - Charles Thomas Hazlewood, 83, died Monday (8/9/04) at his home.
He was a native of Gibson County, Tenn., a son of the late James Ernest and Allie Louise Raines Hazlewood. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Sutton. Burial will follow at a later date in Titusville, Fla.
Surviving are wife, Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Stephens Hazlewood; a son, Steve Hazlewood and wife Dianna of Sanford; a daughter, Jo H. Moberg and husband Rudy of Montreat; a sister, Frances Hassell of Merritt Island, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.

DR. LYNN MANN
LILLINGTON - Dr. Lynn S. Mann, 71, died Tuesday (8/10/04) at his home.
He was a native of Lillington and the son of the late H. Clarence and Mamie Senter Mann. After graduating from Lillington High School, he attended the University of North Carolina. He graduated from UNC Dental School and returned to Lillington, where he practiced dentistry for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Spivey Woodworth Mann, brothers, Roger and Sam Mann and sisters, Willa Mann McGehee, Hazel M. Holloway and Virgie M. Betts. He served in several civic organizations including the Lions and Booster clubs. He was a member of the Lillington Town Board and served as mayor of Lillington in 1973. He was a lifelong member of the Lillington Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday by Dr. William Goodnight. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
Surviving are wife, Rebecca M. Mann of the home; daughters, Cynthia M. Johnson and husband Mark and Marcia M. Kelly and husband Chris, all of Fuquay-Varina; sons, Christopher L. Mann and wife Rosemary of Leland and A. Boyce Mann and wife Lawanda of St. Simon's Island, Ga.; a sister, Louise Johnson of Lillington; a brother, Rex Mann of Sanford; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

PITTSBORO - Elizabeth S. Alston, 87, of 100 East Cornwallis St., died Monday (8/9/04) at The Laurels of Chatham.
Funeral will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at Staunton Memorial CME Church by the Rev. Albert S. Williams. Burial will follow in Pittsboro Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Josephine F. Marsh of Pittsboro; sons, Willie Earl Farrar of Baltimore, Md., and Robert E. Farrar and Lacy R. Alston, both of Pittsboro; sisters, Daisy Mitchell of Durham and Mabel Horton of Pittsboro; a brother, Richard Alston of Pittsboro; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
