SANFORD - Linda Davis LaVerdure, 55, of 223 McDonald Road, died Wednesday (7/9/03) at home.
A native of Lee County, she was office manager at Air Cleaning Equipment, Inc. She graduated from Sanford Business College and was a member of the Benhaven Rescue Squad. She was a member of Olivia Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olivia Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Walton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her parents, Clayboun and Agnes McDonald Davis of Sanford; husband, Robert LaVerdure; sons, Ricky Sullivan and his wife Kate of Belgium and Marcus Sullivan and his wife Terri of Atlanta; a brother, Donald Davis and his wife Sallie of Sanford; and a grandchild.

ALBERTA BROWER
RAMSEUR - Alberta L. E. Brower, 85, of 4940 CC Square, Ramseur, died Monday (7/7/03) at Randolph Hospital.
She was a native of Chatham County and a retired homemaker.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Oakland Baptist Church in Ramseur. Burial will be in Oakland-McCrary Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Fannie Patterson and Girlena McGee, both of Ramseur; sons, Tracy Brower Jr. of Asheboro and Ezell Brower of Siler City; a granddaughter, six grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at Oakland Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Ernestine B. Caviness, 4940 CC Square, Ramseur.

RAYMOND MCIVER
BRONSON, Fla. - Raymond McIver, 74, of Bronson, died Tuesday (7/8/03).
He was a native of Lemon Springs, N.C.
Funeral service will be held Saturday in Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Lena McIver of Bronson; daughters, Mary and Marilyn Fox, both of Sanford, N.C.; sons, Jimmy Joe Buie of Baltimore, Md., James Upchurch of New York, and Ricky and Victor McIver, both of Sanford; half-sisters, half-brothers and seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

NEW HILL - Bessie H. Horton, 74, of New Hill, died Monday (7/7/03) at Western Wake Hospital in Cary.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in New Hill.
Survivors include sons, David Hawkins and wife Brenda of Cary, and Terry Hawkins, at home; sisters, Mary Ruth Horton of Greensboro, Lillian Williams of Apex, Alma Stewart of Apex, Carrie Lee of New Hill, Ruby Mann of New Hill, and Betty Jean Dowdy of Fuquay-Varina; brothers, Calvin Hawkins Jr. of New Jersey, Earl and Elmer Hawkins, both of Philadelphia, Pa., Bobby Hawkins of Moncure and Frank Goldston of Friendship, N.C.

MAMERS - Doris Genora Force, 79, of Mamers, died Wednesday (7/9/03) at Duke Medical Center.
She was the daughter of Malcolm James and Mollie O'Quinn Wood. She was a retired Civil Service employee with Womack Army Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Force of Broadway; a sister, Azalee Currin of Lillington; a brother, Cameron Wood of Lillington; and three grandsons.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington and other times at the home of Cindy Force.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

MIDWAY PARK - Ralph H. Wilmoth Sr., 79, of Midway Park, brother of Wayne Wilmoth and Betty Rae Holder, both of Sanford, Ernestine Seagroves of Gulf and Francis Wilmoth of Carthage, died Monday (7/7/03) at Britthaven of Jacksonville.
Formerly of Sanford, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was the owner of Jacksonville Cap for many years.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Burial will follow in Onslow Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

VASS - Willie Russell McLeod, of 148 Creek Ridge Road, died Tuesday (7/8/03) at Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen.

MARIE DILWORTH
WALHALLA, S.C. - Marie Emma Barbara Brandt Dilworth, 90, of Walhalla, S.C., died Tuesday (7/8/03) at Mariner Health Care Center in Seneca, S.C.
A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Henry William and Caroline Kuemmerer Brandt. She was a homemaker and an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Mabel Deal Aull Circle, the Alter Guild and WELCA.
She was the wife of the late J.B. Dilworth. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Henry C. and the Rev. Dr. Frederick William Brandt, and sisters, Louise Butehorn, Frances "Sissie" Brandt and Henrietta Brandt.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dilworth is survived by a son, Joseph Brandt Dilworth of Sanford, N.C.; two daughters, Frances D. Skaggs of Cayce, S.C., and Barbara D. Wilson of Walhalla, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davenport Funeral Home in Walhalla, S.C., and at other times when the family is at the residence.

A native of Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Will D. Wicker and Roxanne Wicker Wicker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Norris Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers by the Rev. Martin Groover and the Rev. Mike Oldham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Warren Ray Brown and wife Gail, Jerry Norris Brown, Larry William Brown and wife Sue and Tommy Dean Brown and wife Norma, all of Sanford; a daughter, Joyce Sharpe and husband John of Olivia; seven grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

A native of Laurinburg, she was a daughter of the late Luther Beaden McAllister and Novella Parker McAllister.

She is survived by a daughter, Angela Lee Harrison of Sanford; sons, Gerald W. Hayes of Oak Island and Timothy C. Hayes and Warren K. Hayes, both of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Joyce of Oklahoma, Ruth E. Abgunas of Fayetteville, Beulah of Laurinburg and Wanda Caulder of Mebane; brothers, Luther B. McAllister and George O. McAllister, both of Burlington; and seven grandchildren.
