ELIZABETH O'BRYON
SANFORD - Elizabeth Mary Leppo O'Bryon, of 1901 Autumn Court, Sanford, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at her home.
She was born March 11, 1921, in Malden on the Hudson, N.Y. She accepted Jesus Christ at the age of 13. She was married to Frederick Stanley O'Bryon, who preceded her in death. She was very active in the Sunday school programs.
Mrs. O'Bryon worked with the Schenectady Union Star and Knickerbocker newspapers, and was in charge of the advertising department until she retired.
Along with her husband, she was active with the Boys and Girls meetings at Schenectady's Bellvue Gospel Chapel. She was active playing piano and singing with and for the High Hopes Choir and the Sanford Jubilees. She played piano for the Cumnock Baptist Church, the Sanford Chapel, the Enrichment Center and various convalescent care enters in the area. She was a hospital auxiliary volunteer for many years and worked with the Christian women's clubs and Sanford Awanas.
A memorial praise service will be held at Sanford Chapel at 1 p.m. today. The family will receive friends Monday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lee Christian School, c/o Betty Ciliberto, 1901 Autumn Court, Sanford.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty L. O'Bryon Ciliberto and husband Dr. S. David of Sanford; a son, James F. O'Bryon and wife Adina of Bel Air, Md.; nine grandchildren, Deborah Ciliberto Barnes and husband James of Sanford, Valerie Ciliberto Godfrey and husband Edward of Broadway, Mark David Ciliberto of Sanford, Nathan Scott Ciliberto and wife Jennifer of Raleigh, Craig Andrew Ciliberto and wife Tracey of Sanford, Daniel James O'Bryon and wife Stephanie of Medina, Ohio, Douglas James O'Bryon and wife Joanna of Germantown, Md., Cris Eric O'Bryon and wife Alana of Lamesa, Calif., and Kera Lynnette O'Bryon of Newport News, Va.
The Lord has also blessed her with 11 great-grandchildren.

SANFORD - Kattie McLean, of 112 15th St., died Thursday (7/17/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and parents, Will and Artelyer Toomer.
She is survived by a son, Rickie H. McClean and wife Melissa of Greenville, S.C.; daughters, Marian Barns and Jerlene Thomas and husband Ray, all of Sanford; stepdaughter, Agnes Brooks and husband Tyron of Sanford; brothers, Richard W. Toomer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Samuel R. Toomer and wife Dorothy of Queens, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fair Promise A.M.E. Zion Church by Dr. Sherwin O. Greene Sr. Burial will follow in Lee Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. today at Watson Mortuary.
CAREY LONG
ASHEBORO - Carey Moore Long, 89, of Asheboro, died Friday (7/18/03) at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
A native of Surry County, she was the daughter of the later James Henry and Sarah Wood Moore.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Hill of Asheboro, Cookie Street of Franklinville and Nancy Rakes of Ramseur; sons, Donald Long, Pat Long and Loyd Long, all of Asheboro, and Jesse Long, of Rockingham; 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held 3 p.m. today at Lakeside Church of God, Franklinville, by the Rev. Danny Peterson and the Rev. Kelly Dodson. Entombment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. today at the church.
Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home in Broadway.

BROADWAY - Funeral for Ruth Elizabeth Chubbs Cameron, who died Monday (7/14/03), was held Friday at Cameron Grove A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. C.L. McDougald. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Musicians were Roger Lambert, Stephen Woodard and Rodney Baldwin. Old Testament scripture was read by the Rev. D. Blue. New Testament scripture was read by the Rev. Eudora Womack.
Pallbearers were Hoyle Womack, Calvin McNeill, Franklin Prince, Stephen Woodard, Shaun Jackson, Jerrold Jackson and Reginald Cox.

SANFORD - Franklin Kelly, 47, of 509 W. Rose St., died Sunday (2/1/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Lee County, he attended Sanford Central High School. He was employed with GKN for 13 years. He was a member of Star of Hope Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Star of Hope Original Free Will Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
He is survived by a son, NicShaun Kelly, at home; daughters, Lakita McAuley and Francella Kelly, at home, and Lynn Cain of Sanford; mother, Betty K. KATY, Texas - Lois Ellen Jernigan Douglas, 64, formerly of Lillington, N.C., died Friday (1/30/04) at home.
She was a retired self-employed cosmetologist. She was preceded in death by her father, Molton Millard Jernigan, and a brother, Jasper Truett Jernigan.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Schmidt Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Douglas; a daugher, Yvonne Morrison Jones and husband Donnie of Pearland; mother, Mary B. Jernigan of Lillington; brothers, Millard Jernigan and wife Beverly of West Jefferson, N.C., Nathan Hugh Jernigan and wife Faye of Lillington, Ralph Molton Jernigan and wife Linda of Spencer, W.Va.; and two granddaugthers.

SILER CITY - Alta Gibson Justice, 76, of 214 S. Sixth St., died Saturday (1/31/04) at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington.
She was a native of Surry County and a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Glendale Hosiery with 42 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Owen Justice.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Loves Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Roy Helms. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Lutterloh and husband Mitchell of Graham; a son, Randy Justice and wife Linda of Archdale; and four grandchildren.

SILER CITY - Henry Donald "Donnie" Ellis, 51, of 351 Petty Road, died Sunday (2/1/04) at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, he attended White Cross Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sunday School class. He was employed at MasterCraft Fabrics for 32 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Tripp Ellis.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Cross Baptist Church in Staley by the Rev. Edward Brown. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Brady Ellis of Siler City; daughters, Dana E. Berry of Siler City and Donna G. Ellis of Pittsboro; father, Bobby E. Ellis of Moncure; sisters, Cherie Sumner and Vicki Klomparens, both of Pittsboro; a brother, Kennie Ellis of Sanford; mother-in-law, Edith Cheek Brady of Siler City; a granddaughter, six nieces and 15 nephews.

JOSEPH GRIFFIN
SILER CITY - Joseph Lon Griffin, 34, of 317 N. Dogwood Ave., died Monday (2/2/04) at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, he was a member of First Baptist Church where he belonged to Co-Ed 1 Couples and Singles Sunday School class.
He was a 1987 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School and 1993 graduate of Elon University. He was employed as a paramedic with First Health.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Jim Wall.
He is survived by his father, Bub Griffin of Siler City; stepmother, Jackie Tanner Griffin of Siler City; mother, Ada Lynn Andrews Rutledge and husband Steve of Clovis, Calif.; stepbrothers, Andrew and Stephen Rutledge, and Tommy Griffin of Siler City; stepsister, Jaclyn Griffin of Siler City; stepgrandparents, Jack and Maurice Tanner of Siler City; and great-uncle, Bill Hurst of Richmond Hill, Ga.
