LOUISE MOORE
PITTSBORO - Louise Strowd Moore, 93, died Friday (8/6/04).
Moore was a native and lifelong resident of northern Chatham County. She will be remembered for her unwavering generosity; her love of flowers, babies and other growing things; and her joyful and happy approach to life.
Funeral was held Monday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pittsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bland Moore and a daughter, Margaret Bland Moore Milliken. Surviving are daughter, Frances Strowd Moore Danek of Pittsboro; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 269 Mann's Chapel Road, Pittsboro, N.C., 27312.

LILLINGTON - Lee Phillips, 81, of Lillington, died Saturday (8/7/04) at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg.
He was a World War II veteran and a U.S. Army retiree. He was a longtime employee of Whitin-Roberts Company of Sanford.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel by the Rev. George Stallings. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
Surviving are wife, Valley Phillips of Lillington; a son, Tommy Lee Phillips and wife Laurel of Lake Orion, Mich.; a daughter, Suzan Phillips Kelly and husband Billy Joe of Sanford; a brother, the Rev. Frank Phillips and wife Edith of Burnsville; sisters, Maxine DeLlagelphia of Torrington, Conn., and Lucy Fox, Lucille Hunter and Lauri Cooper, all of Burnsville; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the family home.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Lee Leon Dunn Jr., 28, died Saturday (8/7/04) at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.
Funeral was held Monday at Zion Grove AME Zion Church in Eagle Springs by the Rev. Linda Person. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Issac Dunn of Kannapolis; parents, Lee and Doris Dunn Sr.; sisters, Connie Moody and husband Jimmy of Raleigh; Stacie Dunn of Eagle Springs, LaChandra Davis and husband Marcus of Apex and Sabrina Dunn of Greensboro; a brother, Travis Dunn of Cary; and grandparents, Rhoda Dunn and Hubert Dunn Sr. of Star.

SANFORD - Charles E. Jenkins, 51, of 551 Peach Orchard Road, died Thursday (8/5/04) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at True Apostolic Deliverance Center in Sanford by Apostle Samuel Thomas. Burial will follow in Minter Cemetery.
Surviving are wife, Teresa Jenkins of the home; daughters, Jennifer Mickle, Charlene Griffin and Malika McKoy, all of Sanford; sons, Marion Jenkins and wife Maria and William McKoy, all of Sanford; stepchildren, Christina and Gilbert Jones of the home; and nine grandchildren.

BROADWAY - Mary Ida Gardner Sloan, 84, died Monday (8/9/04) at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sloan, and sons, James, Roy and Jimmy Sloan.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at O'Quinn-Peebles Chapel by the Rev. Pearl Castleberry. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Broadway.
Surviving are daughters, Ruby Griffin, Carolyn Hallman and Bearnise Elfritz, all of Broadway; sons, Leslie Sloan and Tony Sloan, both of Broadway, and Bernice Sloan of Sanford; a sister, Hazel Rose of Warrenton; brother, John Gardner of Angier; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Ethel Venitia Jordan, 97, formerly of Sanford, died Saturday (8/7/04) in Gainesville.
Born in Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ada Lucy Ricketts Jordan.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Surviving are daughters, Betty A. Springer of Delaware, Millie Waltman of Linthicum, Md.; a son, Leon Rogers Byerly of Delaware; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - Janet Holland "Rita" Willett, 63, of 521 Greenhill Drive, died Sunday (8/8/04).
She was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker. She attended the Church of God. She was preceded in death by her father, Estice Emmette Holland.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at Edwards Hill Friends Meeting, 92 Edward Hill Church Road, Siler City by the Rev. David Freeman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

CAMERON - Macon L. Moses, 83, of 2896 N.C. 24/27, died Monday (8/9/04) at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
He was a native of Moore County and a son of the late Roger and Mary Moses. He retired after 42 years as a railroad operator with the Seaboard Coastline. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Moses, and two brothers.
Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cameron Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Green. Burial will follow in Cameron Cemetery.
Surviving are wife, Lois Cooper Moses; sisters, Virginia Cooper of Hamlet, Martha Jernigan of Baltimore, Md., and Betty Jean Corbet of Morrisville; and two granddaughters.
