ANNIS KOTULKA
SANFORD - Annis Pauline Joye Kotulka, 80, of Sanford died Saturday (1/1/05) at St. Joseph of the Pines, Southern Pines.
A native of Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late Edmund Vernon Joye and Rachael Joye. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Stephen Catholic Church, a Blue Ribbon Cook, enjoyed traveling and her family.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. today at Miller-Boles Funeral Chapel with Father John Forbes officiating.
Surviving are husband, Frank Kotulka; a son, Frank Steven Kotulka of Lansdale, Pa.; daughters, Jo Ann Sweinhart of East Greenville, Pa. and Patricia Skinner of Whispering Pines; a brother, Hullon Joye of Gadston, Ala.; a sister, Sarah Martin of Gulf; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

SANFORD - Billy Joe Kelly Sr., 59, of 6835 Bradley Road, Sanford, died Sunday (1/2/05) at his home.
Born in Lee County, he was the son of the late James Abner Kelly and Dixie Womack Kelly. He was a retired truck driver.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Juniper Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. George Stallings and the Rev. Michael Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Broadway Town Cemetery.
Surviving are wife, Suzan Phillips Kelly of the home; a daughter, Leacey Renee Kelly of the home; a son, Billy Joe Kelly Jr. of the home; sisters, Annie K. Buchanan of Sanford and Ida K. Phelps of Birmingham, Ala.; brothers, Bobby Gene Kelly and Bernie B. Kelly, both of Sanford.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Smith Funeral Home, Broadway.

SANFORD - Funeral services for Barry B. Jones, who died Tuesday (12/28/04), were held Monday at Miller-Boles Funeral Chapel by Father John Forbes.
Organist was Evelyn Dooley and Tillie Earp was the cantor.

SANFORD - Graveside services for Jonas William Maddox, 80, of 3201 Lee Avenue, Sanford, who died Friday (12/31/04), were conducted Sunday at Buffalo Cemetery by Melvin Murphy and Michael Murphy.
Soloist was Mary Hawley Oates.
Pallbearers were Harold Clewis, Rob Dietrich, Barry Lambeth, Earl Maddox, Matthew Maddox and Melvin Murphy.
Arrangements were by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

LILLINGTON - Margie Ellen Baldwin, 82, of Lillington died Sunday (1/2/05) at Wake Medical Center.
A beloved mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
Surviving are a son, Willie R. Baldwin and wife, Mary Ann of Texas; daughters, Patsy B. Paul and husband, Larry of Bunnlevel, Betty Lawrence and Rosie L. Baldwin, both of Lillington; a sister, Sadie Casey of Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Betty Lawrence.
ARTIS FRENCH SR.
PITTSBORO - Artis Junior French Sr., 65, died Friday (12/31/04) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
A 1959 graduate of Horton High School in Pittsboro, he was an avid sportsman and baseball enthusiast. He served in the U.S. Army until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He was retired from J.T. Davenport and Sons in Sanford.
Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthews A.M.E. Zion Church in Pittsboro. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Ola M. French; a daughter, Marilyn D. Green and husband, Steve, of Pittsboro; sons, Kenneth A. Griffin and Artis J. French II, both of Pittsboro, and Patrick L. French and wife, Vonetta, of Olivia; brothers, Preston Page and wife, Neomia, of Chapel Hill, and Wade French of Pittsboro; sisters, Carolyn Watson and husband, Joe, Mary Clark and husband, Tyrone, and Deborah Laws and husband, Herbert, all of Pittsboro, and Johnnie M. Goldston and husband, Monroe, of Siler City; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.
SARAH HEARN
SANFORD - Sarah Kendrick Hearn, 85, of Sanford died Saturday (1/1/05) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Grove Kendrick and Vada Yarborough Kendrick. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Floyd Hearn, and a grandson.
Funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Boles Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bruce MacInnes. Entombment will be at Lee Memory Gardens.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia Sharpe and Barbara Simpson, both of Sanford; son, Richard Hearn of Sanford; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the family home on Amos Bridges Road.

SANFORD - Funeral services for Sarah K. Hearn, who died Saturday (1/1/05), were held Monday at Miller-Boles Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bruce MacInnes. Entombment was held at Lee Memory Gardens.
Organist was Pam Riddle and soloist was David Dubuc.
Pallbearers were Mark Hearn, Mike Carter, Ronnie Johnson, Jack Truelove, Scott Johnson and Ronald Hearn.

NELLIE KIDD
BENNETT - Nellie L. Kidd, 87, of 379 Howard Mill Road, Bennett, died Friday (12/31/04) at Pinelake Health and Rehab in Carthage.
A native of Randolph County, she was a homemaker, poultry farmer and member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was preceded in death by her son, Louis C. Kidd Jr.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church by the Rev. Thurman Williams and the Rev. Kenneth Huggins. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Louis Kidd; sons, Johnny Kidd and Jerry Kidd, both of Bennett, and Jimmy Kidd of Bear Creek; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur and at other times at the residence.

SPRING LAKE - Funeral for Jerry Earl "JB" Bell, 45, who died Dec. 24, was conducted Friday at True Vine Reasoning Center in Spring Lake by Bishops Jobe and Hattie Lathan.
Apostle J.A. McDonald presided and gave the eulogy. Cousins from Alabama and the True Vine choir sang. Obituary and acknowledgments were read by Lisa Simmons.
Pallbearers were Billy Bell, Harvey Bell, Dwight McCorvey Jr., Josiah Blue, James Jones and Floyd Graham.
Arrangements were by Elizabeth Street Mortuary Inc. of Spring Lake.

SANFORD - Memorial services for Leroy Pickard, who died Thursday (12/30/04), were conducted Saturday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Eric Porterfield.
Patricia Langston played the organ, and Donald Perrell sang. The congregation also sang.
Arrangements were by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.
